I wasn't really sold on the spin-offs either, although I did enjoy Rogue One and liked how different it felt compared to TFA. But by now, the Star Wars fatigue is settling in. Even before the debacle, no one has been anticipating a Han Solo spin-off. People called Rogue One unncessary, and maybe it was, but that's what this movie feels like...

Isn't that how spin offs mostly are?

I have not seen every movie out there, but I can only think of an anime/manga series that was absolutely necessary because there were questions never answered in the series.

American movies, however, seemingly have useless spin offs most of the time.

Everyone's out to imitate Marvel's formula, and Disney's Star Wars department isn't any better at it. Ironic, considering Marvel is part of Disney now.

I'm really pissed off about the Star Wars cash grab, tbh. First, they trashed the fandom universe, and now, they're doing what? Honestly, the first few movies were okay, but Force Awakens was overrated. There, I said it. A lot of things about the movie bothered me as a writer. I just felt like it was a more of a tribute and a "remake" than an actually new thing. If it was called that commonly, then I wouldn't mind. But, instead, it was heralded as AMAZING. It was nice, but I'm not sure I'd call it amazing.

Pretty much, maybe unless they have something fresh to show.

I definitely agree, although it's not really a controversial opinion anymore. If you check a lot of youtube comments and the IMDB fan reviews, they flame the movie HARD. It's pretty divisive among fans, but universally received by critics. With all the flack Hollywood gets for not being more creative and original, I'm surprised TFA is as acclaimed it is since it's essentially a reboot of ANH. I'd much rather watch the prequels than TFA tbh...
