  1. Trying out a new avatar pic.  I'm thinking I like the old Taurus better, but I'll keep Hachirota for a week or so.

There are a few shoppes that will edit images for you if you can't pin down a specific image you want to use and simply have a character in mind. #Shameless Plug XD

I'm most assuredly less important, just some guy that showed up and stayed for a bit though I'm not quite gone yet, come September I probably will be unless there's something that piques my interest to return for like more gamers coming around, shoppe picks up, maybe a SoTW basically something forum based that isn't anime related.XD I might try to get a Code Vein discussion going when it gets closer it's anime-esque. Even when I'm effectively gone I tend to return like a bad penny or check for notifications every so often, really wasn't expecting any kind of response or I would have been more specific in the initial post.

Not really different strokes for different folks. People are a product of the society in which they're raised. It's why to an American the prospect of eating an insect is gross whereas in other countries they're delicacies even sold on the streets from stands. It's hard to change people and even with globalization from social media there's going to be long standing values and traditions that keep certain things from seeming off to one another.

Legend of Dragoon has a sordid nationlistic issue really. While it did pretty well in the West (america or europe) it didn't do so well in Japan and unfortunately when a Japanese game doesn't do well locally they tend to not pursue it any further even if it could be profitable out of country.

I'm pretty sure the Legend of Dragoon sequel and remake are both dead. There was a sort of small tease at a sequel years ago, but it never went anywhere and as for the remake it's apparently a licensing nightmare that kills all hope of some HD retexture not to mention how the game was actually made would make a straight remaster difficulty like the Final Fantasy 7 remaster you can update certain aspects but only to a certain point that it'd still look very old something that doesn't go over great this day and age when most people expect a certain level of graphics with their game or barring a minimal graphic level some sort of aesthetic that excuses the lower graphics like a pixel art style or cell shaded, both are fairly easy on resources and create an art style people are okay with rather than the low poly count of yesteryear.

Whilst that's true, it's primarily an anime site and while I like anime just fine I was primarily out of place to begin with. For example the Borderlands 3 thread got minimal replies and that's a fairly publicized and anticipated game so if that garnered so little attention any topic I'd create in-line with my interest in the gaming section would be akin to flooding the forum with threads that wouldn't go anywhere. A bunch of dead threads looks bad for a forum making it look less active than it might be in general at worst and at best it'd be mostly me talking to myself. While I enjoy talking to myself as much as the next guy when I joined I was primarily to test the waters in my field of interests since there are so few active forums left these days, but it's likely best I simply bow out gracefully rather than flood the forum pointlessly.

  7. :3 I have spent a bit of time today refining my shading for pixel-art stuffs

Other then that, as crazy as ever, isn't that right me? *Nods in response*

Have you considered using a dither style shading? You'll be able to get a much more seamless type gradient that way and it'll still be pixelated for that type of aesthetic.

  8. Spent a couple hours going through old long dead forums, old accounts, etc now I not only feel old, I'm a bit depressed. I miss how things used to be, people I used to know, conversations I once had. These days forums are mostly a relic of a bygone age and I've lost touch with every single person from every single one of those old accounts. Now that history is simply out of context conversation, broken links and broken images. Haven't even left the house in years and old friends have long since moved on most notably almost 10 years of gaming with one and now not a so much as an idle pleasantries exchanged with them. Time does indeed degrade all things I suppose.

Does it? I'd imagine you could draw connections with most people's live to a number of anime. Art mimics life as they seem to say, but one hitch with it being a romance is our relationship is platonic.

It's less that i put time into them and more that they're not around anymore or if they are they're relatively slow. They were a good way to kill time and stay in touch, though in terms of the latter I only ever had a single friend irl which the school system kept us separate because politics or maybe an incident that resulted in a broken arm, but it was probably political. She lives with me now, but it's not the same and our schedules don't really align, she works I don't, she sleeps at night, I sleep during the day so the actually interaction is somewhat limited and it's those times when there's nothing going on even if it's just fleeting that you miss the good ol' days and the other people you used to know.

  10. In an effort to find the best sausage style meat stick I ordered 22 types now I'm swimming in meat. Might not have thought this one through especially when trying to get through them without them molding since they're varying degrees of dryness not to mention the leftover jerky from the previous round. Could be worse I suppose I could have over ordered something 'healthy' and not delicious. Long live the meat industry I for one welcome my inevitable massive coronary and say it was worth it. If anybody is curious Old Trapper Hot and Spicy won the jerky round though walking away with the number 2 slot for taste the overall texture and the fact that it didn't make me violently ill like the number 1 slot in taste gave it number 1 overall. Uncle Mike's Spicy Hot was number 1 in taste, but it was onion powder heavy which I can only tolerate small amounts of onion even in powder form so for the vast majority of folks who can eat onions and garlic it shouldn't make them sick though they're above average in heat level relative to other products who claim to be spicy so that may be a turn off if you only like mild levels of spice. Texture wise Uncle Mike's was tough as shoe leather though there is always some variation in these products they usually hover around a baseline texture and since crowning Old Trapper as the winner I've returned to the brand and it is consistently fairly soft for jerky anyway.

Why can't meat be a side? Seems a little foodist to say a meat has to be an entree and only an entree, I believe in a united dinner where any food no matter it's origin can strive to be anything it wishes. I say yes to candied bacon for dessert, I say yes to a side of chicken wings and I say yes to bacon soda though I horribly regret saying yes to the latter, but I won't say it can't strive to be the best beverage it can be.

Yeah for the time being while he's able anyway, it's getting harder for him to keep up with raising them between age and health issues, but as soon as the new house is ready and we get moved there's a meat market about a mile away that's sourced by the local butcher in the area just down the street the same butcher that we currently go to with our cattle.

I would, but meat is meat, nobody ever gets excited about potatoes when they have meat and potatoes so I just stopped trying to kid myself and have meat with a side of meat and for desert meat or meat byproducts, besides cheese is meat's fruit and I eat cheese.

Organic wouldn't necessarily affect mouth feel so I went with the factor that is more likely to and that'd be the fat content in the meat which largely more exotic meats tend to be leaner and thus went with exotic as a substitute for "higher quality". Most beef jerky companies that I've looked into that advertise organic are 'made with organic' or have' organic ingredients' rather than being actually organic so usually a threshold of about 70% or below by USDA regulation. If it were say a steak then I'd maybe be more concerned with getting organic since I like my steak mid-rare which comes with a naturally higher risk of bacteria infection than something that's cooked to a more well done region so the less of a chance of that potential bacteria being drug-resistant is nice, but if it's cooked well through that shouldn't be terribly much of an issue and it's not like heavily processed jerky is exactly a health a food so the potential for lower Omega-3s in them isn't that much of a concern either. Any jerky I make myself is however organic straight from my grandfather's farm and tends to be a little under what one would be served from a commercial product. *Basically any jerky I make might in-fact kill you has about a week in terms of 'safe' shelf life, but hey it tastes good, it's moist, and soft.* I think I'd be more concerned with organic fruits and vegetables than meats in all honesty, that is if I actually ate any fruits or vegetables. Too hard to find good fruit in the stores around here and I'm pretty sure I am deathly allergic to anything green and healthy for you so that rules out vegetables by default. :P

I've had alligator before, but not in jerky form. When I had it tasted more akin to chicken than anything else was a prepared similarly. I've also had an ostrich steak which was more in the Venison line IMO. As for that particular brand I'm not a fan of soy sauce in any way shape or form and given the order of the ingredients the linked jerky would likely make me sick from the garlic and onion which usually I have to look for them to be listed in a lower percentage than the generic "spices" so they're not in large enough quantity to be the main spice note. The inclusion of soy sauce in that jerky could have resulted in a softer jerky as typically teriyaki jerky is simply softer as it tends to retain a bit more moisture which is fine it simply reduces the shelf life a bit.

When I go for jerky I look for the inclusion of Nitrates and Nitrites so the addition of such are regulated by the FDA whereas the alternative Celery Salt is literally the same thing, but isn't regulated and lets them claim nitrate and nitrite free when in fact products that use celery salt are likely to contain significantly more of them than those who don't make that claim with some of the larger offenders being 10x the FDA regulated amount. Though when I make my own jerky I just use extra salt as I make it small enough portions that not curing it isn't that much of a risk since it doesn't sit on the shelf for more I also don't mind MSG contrary to myths it's really no worse for you than salt is and there have been no conclusive studies to suggest that it is even a trigger of "chinese restaurant syndrome" as it was dubbed when it's use became controversial.

I wouldn't exactly call exotic meats of a higher quality, they're more lean, but they can have a tendency to be a bit stringy from tougher connective tissue. You can get lean beef jerky dependent on the cut. Old Trapper for instance makes their jerky from beef brisket so they do have some fat throughout as the nature of the cut, but that's also what makes it more tender. Softness doesn't always reflect the 'quality' of the meat persay, but is usually an indicator of how much moisture is left in the jerky itself, more moisture left and it'll naturally be softer.

I tend to work small so making something so large is eh, plus I'm about as creative as a rock 99% of everything I do in photoshop or the like never sees the light of day and gets deleted without being saved it's also why I am but a humble image editor affixing backgrounds behind other people's characters. In that same vein signatures that come out photoshop for me preferably have no text from the lack of ability to make it fit with the image most of the time. About the only thing I do well is copy things off reference images and that doesn't really help me in the come up with something.
