Sonic Whammy
I am in a situation that is very time sensitive. In March, there's a convention in my region that my daughter really wants to go to because there's a special guest there that's on her dream list. However, the following weekend, she's leaving for a week-long school trip to Europe that she's been preparing for all year. My wife has justifiably said we shouldn't do this con because she knows the stories from me about the infamous "con plague" that people often suffer from in the days following. Obviously, that's the last thing my daughter needs because she'll lose out on Europe, they won't let her go, I don't think. We made a soft agreement that if I could devise a way to make avoiding con plague for either of us (but especially for my daughter) as foolproof as possible, we'd discuss this again. With that said, I'm searching for tips and suggestions. What's the best way you've kept yourself from catching it on the con floor? And don't be afraid to go over the top with it, given the stakes. Sakura
Okay maybe I'm dumb but what is "con plague"? I've never heard the term and I've been to loads of cons. I'm assuming maybe something like the flu people catch at cons and stuff? I've never caught anything or been sick after any but I'd imagine following Covid type rules would work pretty well. Washing your hands constantly, avoid touching areas people touch a lot or wash your hands after you do, wear a mask or face covering, avoid the public bathrooms there, and avoid the most crowded areas. Make sure you don't sit anything like your cellphone or cups down on surfaces and wash them after the con. 2
Jellal
I'd say that there's no guarantee way to avoid getting sick when it comes to large groups of people in small spaces like this, however your best bet is an n95 mask and making sure you don't touch a lot of surfaces and washing your hands a lot. 1
Animedragon
Also carry a bottle of hand cleanser with you. 1
Eris
No way to 100% guarantee anything but some good ideas is the best type of mask you can buy and dousing your hands in sanitizer as often as you touch anything.
