I finished my rewatch of Sounds of Life. This is a Slice of Life series about the members of a high school koto club as they prepare to take part in the National Koto Championships, it takes a couple of episodes to get going but those episodes are important to set the scene and establish the characters and their backgrounds.
The series has an interesting cast of characters, some of whom are experienced koto players while others are delinquents or trouble makers looking for somewhere to mess about.
Although this series is a Slice of Life style it's also a drama as the koto club faces opposition from both inside the school and outside it several of the cast also have problems and conflicts in their pasts which they need to work through and come to terms with so there is initially a bit of conflict between some of the characters.
I think that this is an underrated and underappreciated series with an excellent storyline and a heart warming ending.
