Yah I suppose though honestly what honest income can support anyone these days at least support you in the way you want to live.

Kinda hard to support myself and a 3 year old on less than a grand a month. That's not even 12 grand a year. Average rent in CO is over $900 a month. It's not a good idea to work for that much for long.

Excuse me for not reading the “ai/yuri” part properly. That’s on me. Next time just let me know and I’d gladly fix my post to suit the topic.

Now, for the recommendations on that topic:

    Whispered Words

    Revolutionary Girl Utena

There’s a couple of others I cannot recall. I don’t watch much ai/yuri shows. I think I’ve read more though. With Utena, it is a very um old school show and complex. But it is a wonderful story. ❤️

Utena is a great story, but it's not the easiest series to fall into. I have found myself unable to watch it on a continuous basis in the least. But I do love the characters and a lot of the story premise. I just wish it was an easier series to be drawn into, for me.

    Talk about personal preference!

My point of view will always be that one cannot honestly put up a comparison on which was better. Yes, it can be easily done and has. But a manga will always have the original story and detailed information. One cannot expect an anime series to have the same elements as a manga. That's just ludicrous. If there is an anime based off of a manga, chances are things were changed or left out for certain reasons or just trying to give it a different spin. It's like books being made into a movie and people always saying the book was much better. I find it fun when you see your favorite manga being turned into an anime and most times the show is pretty decent and sometimes some turn out really freaking amazing. Then there are those moments where you wish it was left on the manga and not animated. The more passionate you are about the manga, the more you'll criticize the anime. That's how I see it. It just depends on your attachment to the manga.

This is a very good point. It's not really a choice to pick between them, because although they contain the same story, like @Persona said, things do get left out when taking a piece of literature, either graphic or text, changes are made to fit the budget and time allotted for a serial or film production.

Personal experience, Shijou Saikyou no Deshi: Kenichi dropped the last two thirds of the story from production and cut off after the final episode of the first complete story arc. I was disappointed because I had also picked up reading the manga and knew that there was more content and the story was only getting deeper and more interesting, to me, at that point. They made attempts at a later time to fill out the series, but never completed it and some of the additional episodes/OVAs/short films, left out a lot of content that made the manga interesting so, that is something I easily picked up on.

Another case in point, the conclusion to the Fairy Tail anime skips about at least a full volume's worth of content that was in the manga at the very beginning, the episode that's supposed to follow the finale of the second series. I wasn't even able to get more than 5 minutes into the episode and haven't watched the new series at all because I was so disappointed that they skipped a really good mini-arc.

While I do understand WHY they cut/change content, doesn't always make the anime or manga better than what it's based on.

  4. While I was in K-12 I played the Viola from 3rd grade until I graduated HS. I honestly love classical music when I'm feeling lost or confused. It's an amazing way to re-center oneself. Even though I was a miserably bad player.

I picked up Guitar in the 11th grade and I find it really fun to do once in a while. I try to learn songs I played on the Viola on the guitar and often succeed at getting some of the melodies down. I found a way to transcribe the music I've learned onto multiple instruments by mostly using the tones of the notes. I'm far from perfect at it though.

I learned how to read all three clefs used in the basic setup of Orchestra's I've been in. I can read treble clef: guitar/piano/violin, alto clef: viola, bass clef: Cello/Upright Bass/Piano. I love all of the theory courses I took in the time from when I was 16 until I was 20. Not many, but I learned alot.

Both of those sound fun though if I were going to do one I would honestly go for the package handler. Not that I do not like animals because I do. Just would want more regular income.

Income is only marginally better. So far I've made like $400 in the two weeks I've been actually working.

  6. It's now in the lower 20s maybe upper teens in some areas here. And around a half a foot of snow too. Had family pictures last night too. Just glad it wasn't anywhere near 0 degrees. Really sucks when you've got some sort of infection in your respiratory system.

Ya winter where I live hit like a brick shit house no joke. Its like 19 degrees here.

It's been flip flopping somewhat here. It gets warm, then a frigid front rolls through and it is crazy how cold the wind feels, yet it refuses to snow.

Ghost in the shell or cowboy Bepop?

I would have said the same thing, but looking at the promo art for both GitS films and the Bebop film don't match the description. I haven't been able to find anything either, but the only other series that comes to mind for me along the vein of guns would be Trigun. But that doesn't look to fit either.

This has been really high on my list for a while now, and I can’t wait to see it. It reminds me a little bit of Aria and New Game! from the desc. From what I’ve heard, it’s really amazing, but I’ve learned from experience to never completely trust a review, especially with SoL shows. The perspective of the viewer can completely change their experience watching the show, especially in SoL shows where the show is paced much slower.

    Anyone seen:

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun ? - It’s a great show, hilarious and such a great rom-com. Unpredictable and very real - well developed characters make this show great. But by far the best episode was the OVA, if you ever get that far.

I've heard of that one a few times, but I really find anime of this premise tend to not draw me in at all.

Jing: King of Bandits/King of Bandits Jing

  10. Writing prompts are amazing for getting ideas flowing. I've created two separate multi-story universes from a handful of random writing prompts I've found over the years. There are some writing prompt sites that have like categorized prompts, so it's possible to find some that work together.

Yeah, that is why I hate freemium games.

The one things that I wish was more prevalent on the mobile scene would be VNs. Other than turn based RPGs, they seem to be the only kind of games today that do not require two hands.

There is Ace Attorney and Planetarian, but nothing like Clannad, Narcissu, and other series.

I would honestly love to see VNs go mobile. There are SIM like games on the android store, but they're all pay to access more of the story(s). I find that annoying, so I've only tried one or two. They're not bad content wise, but having to wait a day to have the necessary in game thing that lets you progress is annoying. I think that it's a horrible business model.

  12. I don't really have a singular favorite game, mostly franchises and favorite releases in those franchises.

Zelda: torn between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, Final Fantasy: VIII followed by X-2, Metroid: The Prime trilogy, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and for Pokemon it's Yellow with the Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald set. For non-franchise games: Legend of Dragoon and Chrono Trigger. I really should get around to playing my copy of Chrono Cross.

  13. I'm a bit in the middle with this one. I like a lot of different anime from many different eras. 90s shows like Slayers, Cowboy Bebop, the first Zoids series, and Monster Rancher are some of my favorites of all time. Then shows like Azumanga, Gurren Lagann, FMA, Rahxephon, Haibane Renmei, Chobits, My-Otome, HSD: Kenichi, s-CRY-ed, and Angelic Layer of the 00s are also on that list. I don't recall watching any anime from earlier than the 90s outside of Studio Ghibli films, some of Dirty Pair, and Speed Racer. But I also found out that the original Cutey Honey was aired in the 70s, so I did watch that one too. And some of the newer spin offs.

@RepentantSky Your list is awesome, so I wanna chime in a response.

    10. @leinwandname has a point really about both the target demographics and the life experiences of a large number of Mangaka. As a author, and as a tip to other authors, writing from experience is the most used tool/crutch in creative writing. It gets tricky writing from a view point that the author doesn't know or may not understand. So, it typically doesn't happen in most of the writing industries.

    9. It's an unfortunate aspect of anything commercialized. The line "Sex sells" is like an industry standard in any sort of media production. However like @Beocat said, it's grossly skewed in favor of sexualizing women. Not that there isn't any cases where they sexualize men though. Just not as common to see. It would require a massive shift in the way people react to the oversexualization of character's in any type of media production to see it come to an end.

    8. Do you mean how certain genres use the same tropes and character archetypes/stereotypes repetitively? I'm not sure exactly what you mean here.

    7. I hate when they try to overlay one world on top of another and don't really try to blend the two in any cohesive way at all. It usually give me a headache trying to comprehend how anything functions in these awful mashup type settings, so I usually stop watching them like a couple episodes after the worlds are blended.

    6. My own personal art style is me trying to find a blend between comic book styles and a more realistic anime/manga style. I find it hard to get into an anime that go for a massively disproportionate facial/body anatomy. It's honestly my biggest hangup with shows like Sailor Moon Crystal, or anything by CLAMP. I find it really difficult to get past the lack of proportions in the art style, so I kind usually give up.

5.I DESPISE harems. I find it UTTERLY RIDICULOUS for a half dozen people to fall in love with a single person. I also find that it's typically a completely bland Protagonist that this happens to. The fact that they say the protag's lack of personality is so that the audience can more easily put themselves in the MC's place just pisses me off even more. I see this as a lack of creativity on the author's part, or a typical male self-insert. HAREMS NEED TO DIE. PLEASE.

    4. I have a personally involved perspective on this, being a member of the LGBTQIA community in two aspects. Yaoi anime is typically more Ecchi, Yuri is usually written by guys that have no clue(I used to be in this category) on the complexity of female emotions. Dramas do exist for these as well, but are also typically bland in someway or another as the cast/crew really don't understand what they're trying to depict in these scenarios. Or they do and they're not given the okay to make it more accurate. I am really sad to say this, but the probability of a Bi MC who is torn between being involved with a member of BOTH binary genders is extremely low. With the way society sees Bis and Aces and non-binaries, such a media production is not likely to make it past the pitch phase.

    3. I agree with you here. I find it really hard to be interested in something when they don't film or animate what they're trying to convey.

    2. Never been a fan of gore really. So I can't add anything on this.

    1. This has more to do with who gets cast. Usually they try to bring in Seiyuu, in the case of the original, or VAs, in the case of dubs, who have proven themselves and live near to the studio doing the audio production. It's typically a budget concern, but there are cases where they want to use an actor's fame to bring in more audience. It really doesn't always have to deal with the lack of talented seiyuu/VAs, but more concern toward the budget. They also tend to not like taking risks on unknowns.

So, there's what I have to say on this matter.

Well a couple I would suggest you buy that aren't to hard to find are Sarge's Heroes, DK 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Golden Eye. Those are all amzing N64 titles and they are not to hard to find. The can be a bet bank braking though.

I don't have to lol. MY bestie has 3 out of 4 of those. I can play them whenever I think to ask for 'em. I just have a lot of fond memories of Diddy Kong Racing; one of the only good set of memories involving some of my cousins. I am just astounded that the market for nostalgic games like N64 games is almost identical to the resell market of MtG.

Lol....and most SAO fans don't even know that dot Hack even exists.

The parallels are unmistakable but I love dot Hack (don't love SAO). The original :) I hate to say it, but this happens a lot. An author is inspired by one story and models their own after their "muse".

I honestly forgot that the dot hack series was of the same genre and had the same central plot as SAO when I watched the first 3 SAO series. My ex before last was a massive dot Hack fan, so much so that she owned all DVDs of the series that had been released at that point and several of the games too.

Honestly, looking at SAO again, and comparing it to dot Hack is kinda insulting dot Hack. SAO was a completely improperly paced story. It honestly feels like something a 12 year old in the 90s would have written as a fanfic for dot Hack. At least that's how I see it. I'm kind of in a mood to sit down and properly watch dot Hack again, as I never got to finish it.

What titles have you gotten for it already, and thats great you got one in such good condition.

It was given to me with Star Fox, Goemon's Adventure, and the other games elude my memory right now. I think there's two others and I can't remember if one of the Banjo titles was in there. I'd have to actually search for it all. My best friend actually has a system too, so we share games. I need to go fetch my Super NES and see if I can get it working again.

edit: I just remembered that there was a copy of both LoZ: OoT and Majora's Mask. Still drawing a blank on the other game.

Eesh. This one is a bit hard for me. Like, I know there have been several animes that have pulled at my emotional strings. Just cannot recall them all or specific scenes (been awhile since I've been touched..unless we talk of anime movies).

When I was a young lass, the scene in Sailor Moon:
Season 1, Episode 34: When the scouts and tuxedo masked were caught in a trap devised by Zoisite and the rainbow crystals were gathered. Ultimately it led to Damon being severely injured and Usagi in tears as she comes to the realization that they knew one another in their past lives. Thus, the epic song comes on and she finally transforms.

I mean I was a little kid and I was so touched.

Other shows I recall that I have had a moment of sadness with were:

    1. Nana
    2. Honey x Clover
    3. Orange
    4. Erased
    5. One Piece
    6. FMA - Major Hughes death.
    7. Naruto - Asuma's death.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Mamoru's name in the DIC dub Darien?

And I agree with Asuma's death. That was horrific for me. It was probably the major influence why I didn't finish Naruto until after Boruto's first season was on Crunchyroll. I hated that such a well developed character was killed off.
