What if we host our own contests? Put the reaction vote thingy to good use. That way the community itself can vote for best photos, art, writing and so on. 

Mmm, sadly most of the moderators are inactive...

over the years the moderators for the most part have been inactive in this area to speak of and the community members made the events and contests , tho some mods got involved in participating , if you dig thru the forum the past community events/contests can still be found

feel free to resurrect one or make a new

the forum its self was never a large form to speak off tho it did gain members as other forums of similar nature closed down , and it can be hard for a mod or a member to get events and such going especially in small member base forums

over the years members have come and gone (even the mods changed) , some due to life changes some due to falling outs , but a few of the older members that left were also destine to return at times

i do think finding a mod (even if you could find some one to become a mod) to take on such a work load for a small part of a form would be hard , i know as i tried to get a few going years back too when we had a larger community base

and as for mods getting them going you'd need more than 1 event or contests so that would more so increase the workload involved for 1 person for something that may not even be accepted by the members , hence it maybe easier if a group of members that felt something was worth giving a shot , gave it a try
