Fire Force Season 3

Enjoyed this series more than I expected when I first saw it and appreciated that the seasons were 24 episodes each. Supposedly season 3 was confirmed back in 2022 but it's been completely quiet since. Also shook things up a bit that Funimation shut down, so I'm wondering if we'll see this come around any time soon. Does anyone here happen to know any more than that, or perhaps am I the only one here who even likes the anime?

While I didn’t enjoy it as much as it’s related series Soul Eater, I am admittedly impatient to see how it ends (could always read the manga which has ended but, nah). As to when, no official announcements. Same thing as Tanya the Evil season 2 (announced in 2020, got a single OVA ep a year later and reassurance it was still go & then nothing). Sequels are just taking longer (just got Konosuba 3 this year, Tower God season 2 in July & no date for My Dress-up Darling 2). My understanding is the Studio who did Fire Force 1 & 2 was busy with Undead Unluck until recently, but no idea what their itinerary is going forward.

I read this as well, and for some reason I too don't really have an interest in reading the manga. So much of the show is action and sound so I'm going to try and wait it out.

@Wickett
Finally an official announcement on this

https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/7/7/fire-force-season-3-anime-april-2025-crunchyroll

Almost a year away before the first half airs so delays are still possible, but hopefully they are taking the time to do a quality final season.

April 2025 and January 2026? That'll be perfect to binge during World War 3.

Funimaton is still dubbing anime.

Watched the 1st ep of season 3 today. As I feared, despite it’s attempts to recap previous events, I still feel like I’ve forgotten a lot of details. Going to try to stay with it, but will probably wind up rewatching from the series beginning before the grand finale next year.

Digging that ED though (both the song & visuals)

The first episode was definitely mid though I realize it would be difficult to make it very interesting with as many flashbacks as they tried to include. I will say that the recap they provided was in fact some of the more crucial and recent information learned in season 2 which was good, but as you say, there's just too much ground to cover. I rewatched the series through the winter in preparation and I'm glad I did, because even as big of a fan as I became of this anime there was a lot that I had forgotten.

Also for anyone who has watched the first episode, question below.

Spoiler

Do you think Burns' conversation was true, or was it a calculated ruse on his part?

At this point I’m inclined to think it’s an act, perhaps to make it easier for Obi to escape/be rescued

I do too, before she even started her manipulation tactics I think he already saw right through it. I also wonder if his role will eventually wrap Joker back into it after their meeting at the Holy Sol Temple from before.
