Kirika_Madeleine
I know this is stupid, do you think should I watch mainstream anime? You see I was a 2000s kid I watch old anime thanks to my parents are fan old anime, but I want to try some new anime any recommendations? ( By the way any genre as long is not Dark or religious theme like Neon Genesis Evagelion or Death Note.)
Animedragon
I'm not quite sure what defines "mainstream anime", but I come from the roughly the same anime era as you. I discovered anime by accident back in 1996 while TV channel hopping one evening when I was bored. So I watched a lot of the old 80's and 90's stuff as well as the 2000's series. So I offer you some of the more recent series that I think you might like: A Place Further Than The Universe. A Sign of Affection. Aquatope on White Sands. Hyouka. Yuru Camp. Days With My Stepsister. I think that may be enough for you to check out. I hope that some of them will interest you. I guess I'd be remiss for not mentioning my favourite series, but I suspect it's one you may have already seen given its age. Clannad & Clannad After Story.

( By the way any genre as long is not Dark or religious theme like Neon Genesis Evagelion or Death Note.) Should you watch mainstream animes? Maybe, if you want to chat about animes with younger anime fans. I'm not following newer animes myself but I'll try to list animes that seem popular with my peers and mainstream. Demon Slayer - About a boy joining Demon Slayer Corps after having his sister transformed into a demon. This is very mainstream around 2020. (But this is a little dark.) Spy X Family - What would happen if a family consists of a spy marries an assasin, not knowing eachothers' secrets. And on top of that, adopting a smug girl that can read minds? Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Elven mage Frieren along with her party defeated the demon king in a journey spanning 10 years. A long time to the members but not the elven mage who have very long lifespan. She left to do her own things after that but now regret having not bonded properly. She sets on a journey to say goodbye to her dead companion properly at where the souls reside. My Hero Academia - A boy with no power who wanted nothing but to join the hero academy ran in to save his friend, the N.1 Hero was touched by this and offered his powers to the boy. Other than these, the big 3 from '00s are still being talked about quite actively, especially one piece since it is still running. Some honorable mentions I excluded due to the dark themes: Jujutsu Kaisen Chainsaw Man Attack on Titan
Ohayotaku
Don’t know about “mainstream”, but I do believe it’s possible for lovers of retro-anime to find modern titles they enjoy as well (you’ve slready discovered some like Lycoris Recoil). Some I think you might enjoy: Metallic Rouge • Appare-Ranman! • Black Fox • BNA • Little Witch Academia • Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury • Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. 16 hours ago, Animedragon said: Place Further Than The Universe +1 for this (group of high school girls going on an adventure to Antarctica with some personal stakes and lessons on friendship) & Frieren (some similar vibes to Kino & Wandering Witch). You might also try Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken. Some recent faves of mine that may be worth checking out: Kaiju No. 8 • Shangri La Frontier • Vinland Saga • 86 • My Roommate is a Cat • Tomo-chan is a Girl • Fruits Basket (2019-21 remake) Edited October 13, 2024 by Ohayotaku
Wickett
It is a little darker but a personal favorite of mine, Attack on Titan. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood if you've never seen that. As mentioned above, Kaiju No. 8 and Vinland Saga are both top tier in my opinion and for completely different reasons so some good variety there. Honorable mentions you may have already seen but throwing out there anyway: Bleach Fairy Tail Kuroko's Basketball Samurai Champloo Highschool of the Elite
Sarada
If by meanstream you mean popular to not so well known anime, I watch a little of both myself. I've seen popular animes such as Naruto, FMA, One Piece or Dragon Ball then lesser known ones such as To Aru, Sing Yesterday For Me and From the New World. If you want some recommendations for less popular or lesser known animes I would suggest Horimiya, Maid Sama, Yuru Camp, Flying Witch and A Place Further Than the Universe.

DylanMax
"Totally! Mainstream anime is popular for a reason great for starters or just easy binge-watching. Stuff like *Demon Slayer* or *Jujutsu Kaisen* has hype fights, solid stories, and big fandoms to geek out with. But no pressure if you vibe with niche stuff more, own it. Lucky
Nothing wrong with it if you do. More people watch mainstream ig so you have more to talk about with other anime fans and you might find somethin you like too, never know. There's some romance theme ones that are pretty popular or well known if you like that kind such as SAO, Clannad, Fruit Baskets and then the really popular ones like One Piece if you're into watching a really long show, even Fairy Tail or Naruto and Boruto are good. Toradora, Free, Angel Beats, Lucky Star, Tsuki ga Kirei or Nagi-Asu are fairly popular or at least anime I chatted about with other fans before and they are light or cute animes imo.
