Whensmanly0o5
Anime made in the 2020s has too much vibrance and needs to be dulled and a little bit paled, over editing when a simple jumbcut would do it just fine, and to much lore and overdramatic scenes, not trying to go for more silly and goofy humor and replaces that with dumb "depressing" (more just edgy and not deep at all) backstorys that i am reminded of every 2 minutes when I just want to have a good time watching an anime that looks good at first glance (every acton anime i have seen dose this all the time) , and dose not have the charm that the ones from 2000s-2010s had. idk maybe its me looking at the past with a rose tinted glasses but it dosen't feel the same and feels soulless. 2
nyaa
I disagree, older anime has its charms but the stuff made today is every bit as interesting-look at a series like Violet Evergarden or almost anything that's Fate related.
Moestub
Overall this is definitely a bit of a hot take but i kind of understand both sides. I find current animes "focus" to be less relatable and enjoyable ; this comes with the territory of new animes being shaped for a new and different audience, and the old one's specific interest fading a bit more into obscurity. On the other hand, when you really take a look at how things are going, there are a lot of great anime being aired that will be worth remembering, just as much as the 2000s-2010s had. For me, where the issues truly lies is that i enjoyed "mediocre" or run-of-the mill anime pre-2016 a lot more than the "mediocre" or run-of-the mill anime of now, this a very sujective and acquired taste though, lots of good stuff airing. PixxieTart
oh my gosh i was literally rambling to my boyfriend about this a few days ago!! Newer animes feel way to bright and also less texture and line. I love older animes like azumanga daioh, card captor sakura, etc because the duller colors that feel just right and i feel like theres more line or texture. Same with like newer anime themed backgrounds for pc and stuff theres always such high saturation and bright colors i really do think the duller stuff looks way better
ReverzerO
Is this another discussion of past present and future anime? Mostly I witness the past always on the upper hand!
Wickett
I guess between the two I really just don't care. If all new anime looked like it did in the 80s and 90s then those decades wouldn't have the charm they do now. As long as CGI isn't abused (or even used at all preferably) and rotoscoping isn't overused then I'm fine with it.
