Sherlock discussion.

I've recently started watching the show Sherlock, although I started watching it just a few weeks ago I've already finished the first 3 seasons, and I have to say ... I'm absolutely in love with this show.

I usually start a show off and within the first 3-4 episodes I can tell if I'm going to love it, enjoy it, dislike it, or just down right hate it. Upon starting Sherlock I was expecting to go through this same process, watching the first few episodes before deciding anything about where I stood, but nope. I ended up hurtling head first into the Sherlock fandom after about .2 seconds upon Sherlock being in the show ... After finishing the first whole episode I was completely ecstatic and down right obsessed, this is the first time I've ever become so obsessed so quickly with any show and I was taken so off guard at how much I it.

I'm usually a picky person when it comes to shows, I could absolutely love a show but if I find one plot flaw or scene where the logic is faulty my appreciation drops, it's just the way I am ... I prefer shows that have logic, other wise I just feel like they're not even worth my time.

I'm also very picky when it comes to humor in shows, my sense of humor is quiet different than most peoples ... I tend to enjoy the darker side of humor, while finding childish/slapstick humor to be somewhat dumb. Now, while watching Sherlock I hadn't expected it to make me laugh, but how surprised I was when I found myself trying to hold back laughter so many times ... I've always enjoyed witty, sarcastic, dry humor because it's just on the spot sarcasm that makes, the person who your sarcasm is directed at, feel like a complete moron. Ah, the beauty of sarcastic jokes that make others feel dumb.

Oh, and the character development!

One of the biggest reasons I will like a show is if the characters are developed, not from the beginning though, I want to see how they grow and interact with one another, how they react to different situations, and how change impacts them ... That is exactly what I got with this show!

The development of Sherlock is beautiful, just down right beautiful.

I also absolutely adore the friendship between the main characters, it's absolutely adorable at times but still very serious and heart wrenching at others, their contrasting personalities and abilities fit so perfectly together that everything just falls into places and makes you love them both.

I've always been a fangirl but nothing has made me feel the same way their friendship does ... There are so many cute moments they share together, they help each other so much, and I absolutely love the way they're so different yet they work together so perfectly.

The character of Sherlock is just amazing, and I instantly fell in love with him ... A few minor spoilers in the following text, nothing major though.

The fact that Sherlock lived his whole life being misunderstood and mistreated by those who treated him like an animal, like he had no emotions, and they could say whatever they liked about him, made me disgusted ... The first episode shows how the other "Detectives" and police officers treated him, with the female cop always calling him "Freak" and the dumb detective acting like he was better than him.

After meeting John and having him along on one of the cases Sherlock finally got some recognition for his skills ... I absolutely loved the scene where John is so amazed by Sherlock's genius that he just keeps throwing out compliments like "That was Amazing!" and "Fantastic" while Sherlock deduces the crime scene. The reason why I loved this scene so much is because Sherlock looked genuinely surprised to be getting a compliment, he seemed shocked for a moment as he realized someone actually found his skills to be amazing, I also love how Sherlock then tries to hide his surprise by saying "You know you're saying that out loud." but as soon as John says he'll stop Sherlock quickly waves it off and says it's fine because he's genuinely happy to be getting a compliment for once.

This show is so perfect, and I was so entirely amazed at how much I love these characters, that I've been unable to stop fangirling about it since the first episode ... Most of my fangirling has been on another forum where people are getting somewhat upset with my constant ranting, oh well.

This show is just completely amazing and I wanted to let you guys know about it, maybe I can get somebody else to watch it too. ;)

Never saw the show, but read a few of the original Doyle works, and kind of liked them.

Did you watch it on BBC or an associated channel (e.g. BBCA) or online?

I kind of wanted to check it out, but none of the services I use has it online.

I'm an on-again, off-again fan of this show, hahaha. I still remember when it first came out. I was literally drooling with anticipation. The show looked like it would be smart, funny, and ridiculous. The pilot basically bought me.

Look, I've seen almost every single portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in books, movies, TV shows, and art. I'm picky as hell and extremely skeptical when someone says that they're making another Sherlock Holmes anything.

This. Show. Was. Fantastic.

They take an old concept, an old story, and they modernize it without losing touch with the source material. The humor is great, the production values are top notch, and the execution is basically flawless. Sometimes, I have had issues with specific adaptions of the original stories, but I can easily say that nothing really makes me *dislike* an episode. At worst, I end up neutral.

@ItsSammy Do you have a favorite episode?
