Seshi
Sometimes we just need a place to let off some steam. Have a bad day? Something on your chest that you want to rant about? Get it out here. Lets aim to keep this a judgement free zone. I will report posts that are demeaning of other members. Let’s try and respect each other and be supportive - or just don’t say anything at all. / end rant 1 1
SanguineTear
Oh hey I was talking about something rant worthy with a pal earlier. It drives me even more crazy than I already am when somebody who hates anime deliberately goes to something anime related, like a workshop mod on Steam or a YouTube video, to bash anime and people who like it. If you hate anime, why would you even bother going to something clearly anime related? Are people really that bored and petty that they need to take time to specifically go to anything anime related they see and hate on it? I don't have any problem with people disliking anime at all, they are totally free too, but going out of your way to hate on it, or anything, is just sad and pathetic frankly. It is like going to a restaurant, ordering a plate of something you can't stand, and then throwing a tantrum because they served it to you. Of course this can happen with things other than anime, but anime seems to be by and large the main target for this kind of behavior at least from what I have seen. 1
brycec
I would say multiple things bother me that would be rant worthy, in my eyes, from situations like @SanguineTear‘s, which I have observed but never really dealt with too often, to people who berate others for being entitled when they themselves come off as entitled, with the false belief in what chivalry is and/or make assumptions, to how people are in general. However, only two things annoy me to no end. First, people get on my case about being lazy, or a perceived sense of being lazy. Even though I can indeed be lazy, I usually have things to do of my own, whether or not they are actually important, and, most of the time, people just will not do their own homework. Plus, there is also the possibility that if I do help out or do something that it was not actually something that would help other people out to begin with, in comparison to doing nothing. The second thing that gets on my nerves is when my family tries to get me to go to church again. Churches can help some people, and I was more faithful when I was younger and more naive, but as time went on, I was never truly happy there. Preachers and fellow parishioners would be driving into people that they were broken and needed fixing, people were too caught up in what things looked like or how they would be perceived, they thought they absolutely needed to be in a serious relationship to be happy, and they promoted both blind trust and ceasing the thoughts of when to say no, such as for financial reasons. I did meet good people at church that could think for themselves, but I always felt more at peace when I was alone on the streets, and when I stopped going, it became easier for me to accept myself and do what made me happy (and even found things with more powerful and/or uplifting messages). I do not want to go back to a place where I can see that people are letting church leaders do all the thinking, putting a wedge in their potential, and makes it hard for people to accept themselves and others because of being told that we are completely and utterly broken and need saving, to make sure that place continues to exist. However, if said family is happy in that church, I will not force them to stop going themselves.
