Yes, I saw that one live! It was awesome! Never expected the Simpsons to actually do that...especially in the style where they look like real people.

To be honest, I'm really more of a retro gamer. Everything just seemed simpler back in the day.

To be honest, the full length animated films were actually more enjoyable than the original series was; the only problem was that you had to see the pilot episode of the series where the characters are introduced in order to fully understand why everything is the way that it is in the films. After watching "Beautiful Dreamer", I expected that the series would be something more akin to "Ah! My Goddess!" - it was nothing like that; however, the author of the manga did actually base much of the stories and the characters themselves off of Japanese Folklore and Mythology, which I thought was really neat. Apparently the Oni were like the Japanese equivalents of the Giants and Ogres in many Western Traditions, although it is often translated to mean something like a bad spirit or an Imp. I'm actually disappointed that they decided to reboot the series unless they intended to use the same retro animation style from back in the VHS Era. I'm really not big into remakes as a rule. Why can't they just leave the classics alone? I know why...money.

Those are certainly some freaky anecdotes. It sounds like at least one person here has read a lot of literature about paranormal phenomena. In a very old documentary film about the haunted castles of Wales, there was a very unusual account of a spectral dog who would occasionally appear and make friendly company with the people who were then occupying the property. Nobody was afraid or uncomfortable around the animal apparition at all. It was said that after the remains that were attributed to this canine were incinerated by the lab that had custody over them, that the dog spirit stopped appearing anymore afterward. If true, it would suggest that the remains of organisms are somehow used by the spirits of the deceased as a sort of anchor which allows them to manifest into the world of the living. Contrary to the popular perception that cemeteries are the most active places for ghost activity to occur, it is believed that spirits are typically inclined to haunt the places where they had lived before. Too bad Egon Spengler is a fictional character, or we could get him on the case to explain how this all works. The particular documentary anthology series this story was a part of was later rebranded as, "Historic Hauntings." The pinnacle of the series by far though, was "Castle Ghosts of Ireland." Whether real or not, the reenacted dramatizations they cut for that one were downright terrifying. I practically about sh*t myself when I watched that as a kid in the 90s. Scotland has the more famous reputation but, Scotland has nothing on Ireland when it comes to really scary ghosts. One little thing that bears correction regarding Mildred Darby's alleged encounter inside the chilly walls of Leap Castle, is that whatever that thing she saw was, it was most certainly not an "elemental spirit" -- that is, unless you consider decayed carrion to be an element in the same sense as fire or water; the thing looked like something straight out of "Silent Hill." I have seen other specials like on an episode of "Ghost Hunters: International" ( I think ), where they brought those guys in to record some EVP, and the voices that were captured were all speaking an archaic dialect of Irish Gaelic which is no longer spoken anymore. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know what they were actually saying. Both videos below... ( the original unedited version was even better ) ( not as good as "Castle Ghosts of Ireland" but still very interesting )

The two that I have not seen personally but would be most curious about, are "Blood of Zeus" and that reboot of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." I know that He-Man isn't technically anime but, I still kind of associate it with anime because...fantasy setting and visuals.

Generally, the type of anime that draw me in are the ones that deal with high concept. Otherwise I mostly like the slice of life type anime and the occasional quirky action/adventure. And okay...some hentai, though I am very selective.

Bad music - almost a rarity in anime, can nearly be enough to break a good show. I thoroughly enjoyed the supernatural comedy anime, "Actually I Am", but I hated the soundtrack in it.

Another aspiring content creator! A mix of almost every genre that can be all things to all people though would be next to impossible to make without it alienating the target demographics in question. One also has to consider the pacing and the amount of character dialogue which helps to explain the plot. I think flashy visuals are great, but the story must have substance behind it. Story development is unfortunately one of the most frequently overlooked elements that goes into making shows.

Welcome to the forum. So what do I think anime is missing? Aside from a handful of underused premises and themes, not really a whole lot. There are quite a number that I liked that I believe could have been written to be even better. There is certainly never a shortage of pretty girls, although I think it would be nice to see more tall women with ripped figures. With that being said, I do think that the trend toward fan service has come at the expense of the plot development of many anime - to the point where the cleavage being shown becomes more important than the story itself is; I think this is unfortunate.

@efaardvark@viruxx I never dreamt there would ever be a Beavis & Butthead edit of "Legend of Zelda." That was great.

@efaardvark I always enjoy a good slice-of-life anime.

"Chaos;Head" had some pretty raunchy scenes in it, although there was a lot more to the plot. I think everyone already knows about "Fairy Tail." The latter has become notorious for being one of the most ecchi non-Hentai anime. To be honest, I actually kinda liked Fairy Tail in spite of how silly some of its scenes were written. Yeah, her bosom got the most screen time of any single member of the female cast. No doubt about that. There were still quite a few scenes where Rimuru was hanging out with the Dwarves and hitting on those scantily clad Elf chicks. I think my biggest problem with the story is how they misused the big bad from seasons 2 & 3. I don't want to spoil it for anybody, so I will not comment further on that aspect. Although it looks to still be a work in progress, I might give my two cents about the Season 3 Conclusion of TTIGRAAS in the "How it Should Have Ended" thread. Urd, Hilde and Brandish ( together in a crossover ) would be quite the trio of fun. lol
