With Anime Midwest 2024 just around the corner, I wanted to start a thread to see who else is planning to attend this year! Whether you're a seasoned convention-goer or it's your first time, let's connect and share our excitement for this upcoming event. I'm particularly excited about: - Checking out the amazing cosplay outfits - Attending panels with some of my favorite voice actors and creators - Hunting for exclusive merch in the dealer's room - Meeting fellow anime fans and making new friends So, who’s planning to go? What are you most excited about? Are you cosplaying, and if so, what characters? I'm planning to wear Sailor Mars casual outfit and Tomoyo Daidouji's yellow outfit the next day. Looking forward to hearing from you all and seeing you at Anime Midwest 2024!

Absolutely agree about DanMachi! Another title that feels misleading is The Devil is a Part-Timer! Despite its comedic premise, it offers surprisingly deep character development and engaging plotlines. Similarly, Attack on Titan might sound straightforward, but it's far more complex and thought-provoking than its name suggests.

It sounds like the anime you're describing might be The Adventures of the Little Prince (Hoshi no Ojisama Puchi Puransu). It has an older art style, and although the specific scenes you mentioned don't match exactly, the themes of mystery, adventure, and encountering different characters might align with your memories. Another possibility is Vampire Princess Miyu (Kyuuketsuhime Miyu), which features encounters with vampires and has an older art style. If neither of these suggestions seems to fit, consider checking out old horror or mystery anime lists from the 80s and 90s, as they might jog your memory. Good luck in your search!

Anime convention questions
KT Pendragon replied to RealityIsLemonade's topic in Cosplay & Conventions
I'm already late and someone has already given a good answer, but anyway, how was your experience with the con? I'll be attending Anime Midwest next month, and I'm super excited! Any tips or advice you picked up from Anime Boston that might be useful for a first-timer like me? -
What do you like best about Anime Cons?
KT Pendragon replied to Geano's topic in Cosplay & Conventions
It will be my first time attending an anime convention next month at Anime Midwest, and I couldn't be more excited! I'm especially looking forward to seeing the amazing cosplays and checking out the artist alley. I'm also eager to attend some of the panels and maybe snag some exclusive merchandise. -

KT Pendragon replied to ShenmueOutLoudAgain's topic in Cosplay & Conventions
I know I'm late to the conversation, but I'm going to Anime Midwest next month! It's my first-ever anime convention, and I'm super excited. I've already started preparing by looking into hotel options and budgeting for food, merchandise, and any other expenses. I’m trying to get everything in order so I can just relax and enjoy the experience. Any tips for a first-timer? -
Which Anime Convention is worth going?
KT Pendragon replied to phoebefett's topic in Anime Discussion
I know I'm late but you should definitely go to Anime Midwest! I'll be going next month, it's in Chicago. It'll be my first ever convention and I'm so excited -
I really can't remember much from when I was half my age, but I do recall that I was in college and really focused on my academics. That was also the time I got obsessed with Tumblr because I loved sharing quotes and beautiful pictures. If I'm not mistaken that was the year Frozen was released, and "Let It Go" was everywhere!

First time Anime convention. Need tips!
KT Pendragon replied to KT Pendragon's topic in Cosplay & Conventions
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear that the community is welcoming and that cosplaying is embraced with positivity. I think I'll give dressing up a try! I'm definitely taking your advice about the food—long lines and mediocre meals don’t sound great, so I'll be sure to bring plenty of snacks and maybe scout out some nearby restaurants. Can’t wait for Anime Midwest! If you think of any other tips or must-see events, please let me know! Thanks again! -

If you were sucked into your favorite anime...

I want to be in the world of Ghibli movies, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Angelic Layer because I would really love to play it! -
Hey everyone! Is anyone else heading to Anime Midwest this year? I’m super excited because this will be my first time attending, and I'd love to connect with others who are going! I've been a huge anime fan for years, with some of my all-time favorites being Cardcaptor Sakura, Fullmetal Alchemist and Code Geass. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow fans, checking out the artist alley, and attending some of the panels. I'm particularly interested in the cosplay contest. I'm not sure if I'm going to dress up but I can't wait to see what everyone else has put together. Also, does anyone have tips for first-time convention-goers? I'm trying to plan my schedule and make the most of the weekend. Any recommendations on must-see events or things to avoid? I've heard mixed reviews about the food options, so I'm considering packing some snacks just in case. Looking forward to your advice!

Based on your description, it sounds like you're looking for the anime movie Castle in the Sky (also known as "Laputa: Castle in the Sky")

I was just thinking about several anime pairs who clearly care for each other but never quite make it official. Take Riza Hawkeye and Roy Mustang – duty to their country keeps them apart. Then there's Violet Evergarden and Gilbert; their love is tragic, with Gilbert choosing to stay away for Violet's sake. Mikasa and Eren also come to mind – their different paths keep them apart. And Maka and Soul stay firmly in the friend zone, focusing on their growth and partnership. These stories show that sometimes love isn't about being together, but about sacrifice and personal growth. But I still ship them
