Either that, or just dis-affiliate it, imo. Things like that in my experience just end up fracturing communities into the 'forumers' and the 'chatters', creating increasing amounts of disconnect between them. Also, the chat on the site works well and is quite enjoyable to use. Just my opinion, though. I'd much rather drive people's attention and activity toward the on-site chat and the forum itself, basically.

Delightful banner provided by our very own Nectar. Good evening ladies, gentlemen, and everything in between, and welcome --- to a Mafia thread! For those of you not familiar, Mafia is a party game that can be played in person, on forums, in chat rooms, or any combination thereof! It's a game of murder and mystery, suspicion and betrayal, wherein a group of players come together and attempt to discover the identity of a dastardly murderer hiding within their midst. Mafia games are divided into two phases - a 'day phase', in which players come together to discuss the events of the game, and decide which among their number they suspect of being the murderer, before coming together and voting for who they find the most suspicious - with the most-voted player being removed from the game. The other phase is the 'night phase', in which the murderer or murderers pick out a poor unsuspecting player, and murders them - thus removing them from the game. The game ends when the number of innocent players is equal to or less than the number of murderers, or when the murderer himself has been voted out of the game. So, that's a basic idea as to how the game works, and here are a few specific rules: At the start of the game, I will send the murderer a PM informing him or her of their role. If there are any non-murderers with special abilities, they will also receive a PM. These special roles will be granted based on the results of a random number generator. Players are not allowed to PM each other with regards to the game. Players who have been removed from the game may make a final post in the thread, but are otherwise asked to not participate in game discussion beyond that - this means that if you accidentally kill off your best detective, you're going to be missing out on their assistance moving forward. I'll make a group PM for all deceased players to discuss the game. I will announce the start and end of all game phases, the results of all night actions, etc. Day phases will end after 48 hours, or immediately after a majority vote is reached. Vote with caution. If no majority vote has been reached by the end of a 48 hour day phase, the person with the most votes is removed from the game. To ensure that your votes are counted during day phases, state the name of the person you are voting for in bold. Players with special roles may not share or quote any part of their role PM in the game thread. If you're interested in joining the game, please post here indicating as such, and I'll add you to this post. True, though having never ran a game myself I'm quite interested in having that experience as well Besides, this way people can get a little bit of experience in the game without me steamrolling over everything with my goofy massive posts.

Yeah, unfortunately continuing a game without the original GM is a little tricky, since he's necessary for managing night actions and calling an end to voting phases / etc. I'll work on a thing, and see if anyone else decides to bite.

@Kirry , @Sekkarou , @Scrooge , @zin , @Nectar , @Wedgy , @Kohloo , @John jobs So uhhh... Stuff happened and Orius has apparently left the forum. Obviously that leaves the current mafia game in a state of limbo. I'd be happy to host a new game with a couple modified rules though, if people are interested in continuing. The tweaks I'd have in mind would basically take things closer to more of a 'classic' style mafia game, which would be... Less GM interference. One or more (depending on player count) 'enhanced' innocents that have their own, defensive night actions. Minor rule tweaks - no PMs, for example. Just something to ponder, since this game didn't really get very far.

As with any forum, I think the best way to help this place is simply to be active, make threads, comment in threads, and be a pleasant presence. Bask in the good vibes from other members while contributing your own good vibes until a good vibes feedback loop is created and we all drown in positivity.

As far as I'm aware, all of the current anime team members have become fairly inactive... with that said however, I'm not personally aware that there has been a push to cycle them out for more active members, or if the concept itself might be up for retirement. Heyas, I could be mistaken, but I don't believe the anime team concept had any bearing on the Discord server, if I'm not mistaken - as the opening post indicated, it was specifically meant to benefit the anime board here.

Hello! Welcome to AF! I love your intro thread, and would normally strive to make a long, substantial, and meaningful response --- but I woke up about three hours earlier than intended, so I'm a tiny bit dead on the inside, I'm afraid! So I'm afraid we'll have to make due with something a little more modest. You have my apologies! I can definitely agree with that - Kobayashi's Dragon Maid managed to inch its way into my all-time favorites, I think.

Well, to help move things along, I'll just Vote @Sekkarou I'll confess that my effort output has dropped substantially as hints and clues of a particularly meta nature have pointed at me over and over in a way that I've never really had to deal with in other mafia games, thus the lackadaisical nature of my recent posts. With that said, however, Sekkarou's status on the forum when you click his name has said Engaged in Conversation during and around some very interesting periods of time with relation to this game, in particular as the first day wrapped. Right when the killer would be naming his victim in his PM with Orius. Obviously that's not very concrete and is totally unable to be evidenced, and is certainly less tantalizing than things posted by the GM - enough so that I wasn't going to mention it, but since I'm here, doing a vote thingy, I may as well toss it out before I'm tossed in the acid bin.

Not really impossible, imo - you can get some super impressive looking anime style graphics with good cel shading and such, so there's no reason this couldn't be a thing. It should be a thing!
