Apparently Japan to start censoring anime

Not good, i've hated censorship since i wanted to see A Clockwork Orange in the 1980's, and now they're trying to censor anime at the source.

I think that some degree of censorship would be a good thing. The amount of fanservice in some series is sometimes excessive, and I often wonder if the storyline really needs all those changing room scenes where the female cast are shown in their underwear or those gravity deifying skirts that flip up for no discernable reason.  Not forgetting those sometimes impossibly well endowed ladies who when they lean forward display a cleavage that would rival the grand canyon.

I agree with that and to add on to this the fanservice is usually from characters depicted as minors. While I realize it's "just anime" so no minors are being exposed or abused to create it technically, it's still a little creepy o_O

That's the main thing I don't care for when they show it with characters that are meant to be minors.

I wouldn't mind a little censorship either some anime isn't listed as "Ecchi" but has a lot of scenes in it that could easy be borderline this. I don't mind if that's what I know I'm about to watch but some of it is just very in your face and a lot with school girls or as mentioned girls that are meant to be underaged.

The main thing they do with those is showing skirts blowing up and showing panties like how Animedragon mentioned before. It wouldn't be okay to see that happen to a 12 or 13 IRL so it feels a little odd how it's constantly depicted on anime. I guess some would argue that it's just drawings, and it is, but I'm not fond of seeing a drawing of a minor in a precarious position either.

I don't think it's OK IRL whatever age the girl/woman is.

In anime such as Fairy Tail there isn't any episode that goes by without fan service like this even on the younger characters who are shown to be 12-14 such as Wendy. Even though FairyTail isn't considered to be classified as "ecchi anime" it's on many cases bordering hentai in some scenes and a lot of anime are like this with any ages woman. It seems to be the norm in anime to show off a lot of cleavage.
