  1. I have finally managed to rebuild and upgrade my main PC. It now has a Gigabyte B560 HD3 motherboard with an 11 generation Core i5 CPU and 64GB DDR4 RAM along with a NVIDA GeForce GT730 graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 memory. Not a particularly powerful machine when compared to some games machines, but then I don't play video games as I'm more interested in DTP, photo and video editing.
  2. I've now finished watching Orange. It's a good series with an interesting storyline. It also has a good cast of characters that I can believe in and care about, which in my opinion is important in a series.
  3. "Never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig" I don't know who said this, it was one of a number of quotes I saw on a list somewhere. While not really a favourite quote there are situations where I've found it a very useful one to remember.
  4. Loving beer more than your family is not a good situation. It sounds like your friend's father could be on course to becoming an alcoholic.
  5. There's two things I really don't like about this time of year.

    1: Is the cold weather.

2: The low bright winter sun that's always below my car's sun visor so that I have trouble seeing where I'm going.

Was having this issue with the sun about a month ago, but not so much now. Sadly due to the fact that it ‘s generally dark when I leave for work & dark when I head back home 😢

  8. Yes. It would appear that when you first click on a series the you're taken to the block of episodes that are dubbed in English, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page there's a link called "Next Season" and if you click that it leads you on to dubs in other languages and the English subbed episodes, although sometimes it leads you to the second series of the anime. It's a dual purpose button! And a bit confusing. I watched another couple of episodes of March Comes in like a Lion and decided that after 5 episodes I'd given it a fair chance to engage my interest but the wandering and rather muddled storyline and inconsistent artwork and character designs were just too distracting and off-putting. So having having found the subtitled episodes of Orange I started watching that this evening. The excellent artwork, character designs and animation along with an intriguing storyline caught my interest and attention from the first episode.

  10. I've started on March Comes in like a Lion. So far I'm 3 episodes in and I haven't got a clue what the story is about, it just seems like a series of random scenes with no overall storyline. The artwork is also inconsistent, in one scene there's good character and background design and animation and in the next it's a simple basic cartoon style. I'll give it a few more episodes, but at the moment it's heading for the chop.
  11. There was nothing really obvious for setting sub/dub preferences but there was a slider to set subtitles/CC ON which I did, it didn't seem to make any difference. However, while poking around the site I found that if I scroll through the dub episode list there's a button marked "Next Season" and clicking on that brings up a list of the same episodes with different languages and sub/dub options. More poking around is clearly needed to find out how the site works, it's not quite as intuitive as I thought it was.
  12. Today it's more a case of what am I trying to watch than what am I watching. Lunchtime I settled down to watch Orange and selected the subtitled option because I really don't like dubs, but when the first episode started it was the dubbed version and it didn't matter how many times I went back and selected the sub option it always played the dubbed version. So I gave up and decided to watch something else, but every series I tried to watch played as the dubbed version despite me carefully clicking on the sub option. Even shows with only a subtitled version listed played dubbed! This is really weird because I had no problem watching My Dress-up Darling subtitled. So what's happened since yesterday? Have I missed some preferences option that only shows me dubs? And if I have how to I cancel it and set it to show subs? Have CR changed their plans and now only stream dubbed anime? If they're only going to offer dubs from now on they've just lost a subscriber because I really, really don't like dubs.
  13. I've now finished My Dress-up Darling. An interesting look into the world of cosplay. Kitagawa and Gojo have such different personalities and it's fun to watch how they react to each other in the various situations they find themselves in. I'm pleased that it's getting a second series because it just ended too quickly.
  14. Interesting about the Sound Euphonium movies being added, if they're only available for one day then that's a bit annoying as I haven't got time today to watch lots of movies. But as far as I can work out: Sound! Euphonium: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band : Is a compilation of series 1 Sound! Euphonium: May the Melody Reach You! : Is a compilation of series 2 Sound! Euphonium The Movie - Our Promise: A Brand New Day : Is a sequel to series 3 Liz and the Blue Bird : Spin-off from series 2 (I think) So perhaps I won't miss much. I'm not a great fan of compilation movies and I've seen series 1 and CR have series 2, which I intend to watch after I've re-watched my Blu-ray of series 1. Hopefully CR will have series 3 at some point.

  18. Last week I upgraded my Internet service to something a good deal faster so streaming is now a practical proposition.

As a result I've now taken out a subscription to Crunchyroll. Which means I can now watch those series that are not available on DVD/Blue-ray or are too expensive to buy. 🙂

Congrats. As someone who came late to streaming myself (just 5 years ago), I can say it certainly broadened my enjoyment of anime. Not sure how CR’s UK library compares to the US though.

There's quite a large selection in their UK library. I've made a start with My Dress up Darling, the interaction between the two main characters is very good and great fun to watch.

If I might be so bold, some future suggestions based on past series you noted enjoying: Fruits Basket (2019 - 2021 version) • A Place Further than the Universe •  Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song • Laidback Camp • Bocchi the Rock
