  1. Goodness, this is a real shame, it's scary how much this year seems to be death, as a lot of celebrities have been dying this year! Yeah, the next movie has to be dedicated to Wada Kouji! Looking at his songs for Digimon, it seems that unless he was going to record some new ones, the next ones, if they were to be re-mixed for -tri-, would have been Target -Akai Shougeki- and Boku wa Boku Datte!
  2. I feel like I should have made a note of my opinions on Xros Wars earlier, because now, for some reason, I can't think what those opinions were, even though I just rewatched all the way up to Hunters! I think my opinion was how it feels quite different to the other Digimon series, and not just because it uses DigiXros, rather than evolution! Also, before re-watching Hunters, I felt I had an opinion that it wasn't as good as the rest of Xros Wars, however, after re-watching it, I'm thinking "where did I draw that conclusion?" Xros Wars has many aspects that have featured in previous series, mirroring Adventure and Frontier in how it mostly takes place in the Digital World, whilst Hunters has aspects of 02 and Savers: 02 in which the Hunters spend time in the real world and -a- Digital World; Savers in that Digimon are affected by human emotions! I think the reason why I thought I didn't like Hunters as much as Xros Wars, might have been the limitation on the number of partners a Hunter could use for a DigiXros, and/or the fact the most of the Chosen Children/Tamers from the other series didn't really get any proper airtime (silhouettes, or orbs of light, etc.), and some didn't feature at all (were Yoshino, Rosemon, Touma and MirageGaogomon busy?); I felt that the voices of the Adventure/02 children were a bit different from the original series, but then, it had been 10 years! Actually, another reason why I might have thought Hunters wasn't as good as Xros Wars was during the kendo episode; it's been established that Zenjirou holds a grudge over Taiki for beating him, and yet, a kendo episode, and Zenjirou doesn't feature!? Sure, you could argue that a lot of people might have grudges against Taiki, we just didn't see them before! It's interesting to note the different dynamics between Xros Wars and Hunters, like the difference of the protagonists' childhood friends, in Xros Wars you have Akari, who scolds Taiki for being wreckless, but at the same point, she's supportive of Taiki, however in Hunters, you have Mami, who berates Tagiru, and isn't supportive! Actually, I wonder if Mami and Tagiru are childhood friends now, given that they're in year seven, which I'm guessing is meant to be the first year of (secondary) school, they just seemed somewhat close to me, although she and her friends Haruka and Midori are all into Yuu; you could say Hunters is like the "Everybody loves Yuu" show, what with the aforementioned classmates, Airu developing a crush for him, and Miho (girl snared by Blossomon) seeming to have some feelings for him, possibly just friendship though! A thought came to mind seeing Akari in her uniform (during Hunters), which was that she goes to the same school as Ruki (Tamers), but comparing the uniforms, they're not really the same, just similar colours! Speaking of Akari in her uniform, it was bizarre that she was still wearing her uniform when she went to the hotel with Taiki; she comments that he dressed up nicely, but shouldn't she had worn something that wasn't her school uniform? I have been reading up on the characters on both Digimon wikia, and Wikimon, I didn't realise Zenjirou was younger than Taiki, given how much taller he is to Taiki (I know height isn't an exact indicator of age, etc.), but Wikimon credits the first chapter of the manga as a source, so must be the case! Seems Taiki's short for his age (in Xros Wars), given Kiriha is possibly the same age, or a year older, although by Hunters, he is the same/similar height as Nene and Kiriha! It's interesting in that one year gap between the end of Xros Wars and start of Hunters, how quickly a number of the characters have grown up in other ways, wonder if that's because of the sources of fanservice (Lilithmon, Mervamon and Bastemon) are absent for most of Hunters (and for one, all together)! Was reading about some of the dub censoring of Xros Wars! Speaking of the dub, I'm disappointed with Bastemon's dub name, Beastmon, couldn't they have picked a nicer name? Persiamon, perhaps? Or would Pokémon try to claim copyright infringement, just like DC did, when Marvel introduced Wonderman (that case was successful), or like Marvel did, when DC introduced Power Girl (that case was unsuccessful)? Oh, seems she has already been called Persiamon, but that was in Digimon World 3, it's crazy when character names aren't standardised, like in Pokémon, Lorelei of the Elite Four (Kanto), is also known as Prima, however that was because Lorelei was too long to be a replacement for Kana, in the anime! They also changed Lilithmon to Laylamon, however that was most probably due to the fact American dubs try to remove references to God, or Gods, so they don't get complaints from religious groups; the Warriors of the Goddess are renamed Warriors of Light (with the Goddess being demoted to Queen), and Heaven's Zone is renamed Sky Zone in the dub! Interestingly Lilithmon also suffers from inconsistency, given that she was called Lilithmon in World Data Squad; need to play that game at somepoint! For ease, I'll probably get US version, however will be crazy, given I've only seen Savers as the sub! Another thing I need to do at somepoint, is read the Xros Wars manga! It's a shame that it hasn't been released in English, I would even import from Singapore, if Shokugan Asia released an English language version there, like they do for Pokémon Adventure, however since the Singaporean-English version has "changed" hands (used to be Chuang-Yi, before they collapsed), I think they're back to sub-licensing the Viz version, possibly including their censoring! Speaking of Pokémon Adventure, most of the volumes have been sitting unread for a while now, so even if Xros Wars had been released in English, it doesn't mean I'd find the time to read it anyway! Lilithmon and Cho-Hakkaimon are fun characters in my opinion, both prone to "exploding", Mervamon is pretty fun too, so as I mentioned on the Adventure/02 thread, it was interesting to learn that both Cho-Hakkaimon and Mervamon are voiced by the same seiyuu (Ryoko Shiraishi), along with Akari! Also liked Lilamon and Stingmon, especially in their first two episodes, in which Lilamon cries when Stingmon upsets her, when he gets embarrassed at her open affection towards him, in front of everyone! Those episodes also featured the hilarious Love-Love Dance between Akari and Zenjirou, which also featured a scene of the members of Xros Heart, too embarrassed to participate, which included one PawnChessmon, the others had no problem with participating! Thought as much, Mermaimon is mis-coloured in the final of Xros Wars, when she and the other Digimon return to the Digitial World, after assisting in the formation of Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode!
  3. Reviving an old thread ! Not played Dynasty Warriors in a while, but yeah, I'm a fan, although not fully completed one yet, problem I have with Dynasty Warriors is that there are so many characters, but not that much variation, so I kinda prefer Samurai Warriors over it! I might be wrong, but I see Dynasty Warriors as completing the Wei/Wu/Shu story, yet it's still viewed as if it's a "character" story, whilst Samurai Warriors you complete a character story! On the subject of weapons, I like using Sun Shang Xiang, with her chakram, so it's a shame she switched to a bow and arrows in Dynasty Warriors 6! Similarly, I like using Oichi, with her kendama, so again, shame they changed her weapon later! Need to get round to getting Strikeforce at somepoint, along with Warriors Orochi! I do have Hyrule Warriors, but never found the time to play it, and they've now releasing/released Hyrule Warriors Legends! Need to play Capcom's "version" of Samurai Warriors too, at somepoint, Sengoku Basara; I say "version", as Capcom did the Sengoku period first - it's crazy to compare the differences between the characters!
  4. I seem to be creeping over to the main forum, one topic at a time ! This time it's this one, obviously ! I watched episodes of the third and fourth Doctor as re-runs back in the 90s, and then the reboot series... oh I also watched the movie with the eighth Doctor, an arc with the seventh Doctor (Remembrance of the Daleks), and the Peter Cushing movies (technically not actually part of Doctor Who, but Dr. Who)! Since then, I have also watched a selection of older Doctor Who episodes, thanks to a special run on a television channel called Drama, and later, an incomplete showing (although a complete showing couldn't happen anyway) on Horror (part of CBS)! I enjoyed the reboot, in the beginning, through Russel T. Davies reign, although I didn't given Eccleston a fair chance, the modern look (shaven head, etc.), put me off*, however of the episodes I saw, I thought he was a good Doctor, shame he left because of thoughts he'd be typecast! My favourite reboot Doctor would have to be David Tennant; I didn't feel Matt Smith was that different to Tennant, which urked me, however this was also when it changed from Davies to Moffat, or what I call, the Dark Time ! A problem I have with the reboot series, is the introduction of River Song, it's cool that she and the Doctor are travelling in different directions through time, but are they? Really? Unless the episodes are out of continuity, surely any episodes after "Let's Kill Hitler" contradict this, because you could argue this is Kingston-River's first meeting of the Doctor! I will admit, that I thought he did a good job with Silence in the Library, and the 50th! A friend despairs at the thought of Chris Chibnall becoming Head Writer, but I thought Dinosaurs on a Spaceship was alright, pretty zany in my opinion! After being able to watch the original series, I personally prefer it to the reboot, it has a great outlandish factor, and I feel just better than the reboot, or at least since Moffat! [spoiler=Moffat Rant: Spoilers]Yeah, you can probably tell I'm not his biggest fan, didn't like the Cybermen in Death in Heaven, they looked pretty cheap to me, wasn't a fan of making the Master a woman, I enjoyed Chris Addison's performance however! The Magician's Apprentice was cool for bringing in all "shades" of Dalek, and a faithful representation of the Dalek city from the first Doctor's era, but that was it, then there's The Zygon Invasion, everything about it was too predictable, although it was nice Osgood came back, or did she...? Still, the matter of which Osgood it was aside, it was cool that she came back, and was referencing another Doctor with her outfit! Actually, going back to the 50th, they did do that mini-episode, Night of the Doctor, which was the other visual appearance of the eighth Doctor! That was quite well received, that people called out for an eighth Doctor series, to run concurrently with/replace the current Doctor Who series! Moffat put the kaibosh on that, saying "there can only be one Doctor Who at a time!" Personally I think he was afraid of competition, I mean if there was another series, I'm guessing another head writer would helm it, and they might do a better job than he does! Given how we appear to be making Doctor Who with a mid-series break, just like how the Americans make their shows, an eighth Doctor series, could fit nicely into that gap, rather than just giving us a Doctor Who void, until the series returns! I'm aware Capaldi is Scottish, but I wonder if the Twelfth Doctor's Scottishness is because of the Eleventh Doctor's love for Amy Pond! Technically the use of a Scottish accent could have multiple reasons, such as the BBC's relaxing on the use of a Scottish accent, something denied to David Tennant, except in Tooth and Claw! Before I did a proper watch of the original Doctor Who (thanks to Horror), I would have said Tom Baker was my favourite Doctor, but given the re-runs on the BBC in the 90s, only included the Fourth Doctor, and the Third Doctor, it's not like I had many to choose from... that said, I keep forgetting about the fact I watched Remembrance of the Daleks and the eighth Doctor movie, but yeah, I guess that would have still stood, past tense! Since having a proper watch of the original series, I'd have to say I lean more to Patrick Troughton, and Colin Baker; Patrick Troughton because he was a bit of a ditherer "wait it's not safe, oh no, they've gone, should I go after them?", and I can't really say for Colin Baker, but he was in a great era, very zany, zany soundtrack, opening, well the Peter Howell one! However, I have enjoyed the other portrayals of the Doctor too! When I have the time, I try to work my way through the Second Trial of a Time Lord (Series 23), although I still haven't watched the First Trial, need to do that at some point, along with a couple of older episodes! At somepoint, I mean to watch through the episodes only available as telesnaps and audio, and the audio dramas of the original series 23! Right, now we move into the final segment of this post, and it will be short: Sonic Shades: *in the style of Dragon's Den* Moffat, I'm out! Favourite Doctor(s): Original Series: Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker, so Two Doctors arc was Christmas! Reboot Series: David Tennant! [*]Favorite Companion(s): Donna Noble, there might be others! [*]Favourite Episode(s): Series 2 (2005) as a whole, but School Reunion featuring Sarah Jane Smith, and K-9!! Rest in peace Elizabeth Sladen, I sometimes consider a continuation of the Sarah Jane Smith adventures, with Generated Anomaly (Jenny - Georgia Moffet-Davidson-Tennant) at the helm! *if he had the longer hair that he had in Clocking Off, then I might have watched all of Series 1, although I do plan to, at somepoint EDIT: Ended up adding more to "Moffat Rant"!
  5. Internet lying to me there for a moment, saying no new posts! Hahaha, it was different, I thought it suited him, however I do like the original voice! I don't think I could watch the dub anymore, all those changes! I almost feel like re-watching it now, to see if I feel it could have done with a sequel; I felt like it had a nice ending, that said, they could have gone the Tamers route, and made a movie in which the chosen children are reunited with their partner Digimon! Hahaha, main character was Masaru, and sister was Chika! With Masaru leading, it was a very shounen series; FURU POWAA -full power-!! Surely "Naruto" (Junko Takeuchi) should have been in this one ! Think my favourite characters might have been Yoshino, Lalamon, Megumi, Miki and PawnChessmons! Actually, I'm curious where they'd go if they followed the events from the non-canon/out of canon movie, in which Rhythm tells Agumon that she loves him! Another thing I'm curious about, is if the chosen children were reunited with their partner Digimon, would Nanami, Ivan and Kouki receive partner Digimon, and become chosen children? It might not be an actual thing, but "villains" in Digimon series have become chosen children! Indeed, it even gets re-used in Xros Wars, the realisation that the Digital World is not a game! Reminded me of a comment Sarah Millican made on QI "I have a rule that if an insect comes into my house I can kill it, because it's my home, but not if it's outside because it's their home"! That said, I think I heard that the spiders that lurk about the house, are apparently house spiders! Goodness, I tend to ignore spiders, if I need to, and I mean, really need to, I will deal with them, but if I don't, then I just ignore them, although doesn't mean I don't check to see if they're lurking about anywhere new! Haha, ah right, think it's just one of the Japanese food things that jumps to mind, possibly because I might be one of those foods that hasn't made the leap overseas (I could be wrong)! There's Okonomiyaki too, think I've spelt that right, although that might have made the jump! Was just like a switch for me, think I liked the taste of meat; chicken, pork, wasn't too fussed on beef, but I gave it up like a flick of a switch! I sometimes miss the texture of meat, because nothing vegetarian has the same texture, well Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), Halloumi and Tofu can, sometimes, depends on how you cook it! Ah right, I'm happy being ignorant, not gone to the doctors to find out if I'm diabetic, or anything! Each to their own, interestingly I also had chili today, however, I quite like a meat-free carvery as a treat, which could also be described as nothing interesting ! Very true, to form a true opinion, you'd have to erase my memory of the other series, and "extra-canon" information! Or maybe just ask after a while, as I may have forgotten by then; was just watching Xros Wars, which I last watched probably not that long ago... wait *checks release date of Hunters, five years ago!?*, I stand corrected, some time ago, so it's a given I forgot a couple of things then! He also misread it in Hikari's diary as eight over one ! It's possible, I can see them doing it to reference the series, however would they just reference when Vamdemon searched for Hikari, and Wizarmon's death, or the later featured 1st August (in 02), when they're with three of the 02 quartet, and Wizarmon "returns"? If they feature the later 1st August as well, but not mention the 02 quartet, we will know something's up! True, I can understand how "Digi-hell" fits into things (although you could say that's because the internet told me how), not sure how "Digi-heaven" would fit into it, but then, perhaps I can! I was thinking that given how the "Digi-Gods" are on the Digital World, is there a need, but I don't believe they're always on the Digital World, so perhaps there is a "Digi-heaven" that they return to, also, it's possible that when a chosen child passes on, a partner Digimon choose to "ascend" to "Digi-heaven"! Bit of a morbid thought, but was just thinking of how "Digi-heaven" might work, given the re-birth cycle of Digimon! Still it might not be the case, as Oikawa's partner Digimon (Pipimon) didn't appear to make this choice, but their appearance was only a brief one! Just remembered, Cho-Hakkaimon is also a fallen angel Digimon, well, she isn't classed as one, but she was originally an angel Digimon, but incurred the wrath of Orphanimon! Wow, bloody hell, she's voiced by Ryoko Shiraishi in Xros Wars, thought she sounded similar to Mervamon, wait, and Akari too!? Gotsumon and Pumpmon are the key to Patamon's ultimate evolution ! Probably got it from somewhere, my mind's saying comics, but could be wrong, actually speaking of comics, I quite often when I think about how -tri- doesn't acknowledge the 02 quartet, I jokingly think that the Adventure universe got affected by DC's Flashpoint (a reboot of their products, with some changes)! Quite true, Shuichon and Kenta did not feature as silhouettes in the first version of the opening, so as you say, Ayaka might have been considered as possible later edition, along with Juri, as I said, same might have been true for her other friends, but wasn't as easy to identify them as silhouettes! Thinking of the opening, I have to wonder if they had grander plans for Tamers originally, given all the silhouetted Tamers that featured, Adventure/02 had chosen children of the world, so was Tamers planning on doing the same? If I think about it, this is not done in any of the other series openings: Adventure does not change its opening to account for Hikari and the Perfect evolutions; 02 does change its opening, minor foreshadowing (Ken "in" the Kaiser's hair, and evolutions); Frontier doesn't change its opening to account for Koichi and later evolutions; Savers has multiple openings, and Going! Going! My Soul!! does feature silhouetting, but only of partner evolutions; Xros Wars has multiple openings, but no real foreshadowing, I don't think, although given I've just watched it, I should know (that said, there's foreshadowing in the first episode - the future Xros Heart)! On the subject of openings, although there were no amendments to Butterfly in Japan, the Americans did swap scenes in Butterfly, for Keep On, which I must say, worked quite well, in my opinion! I found it interesting that with Akai Shougeki, the Japanese amended the opening, whilst the Americans didn't, a reversal of the previous situation! I also stand corrected, Hunters does feature many silhouetted "Hunters", whether (some of) these are the Legendary Hunters, is unsure, you can't really get a feel for who the silhouettes represent! I don't think SATS was optional for us, so that might be why we have automatic progression in UK schools (as long as you can pass the re-sit)! That's interesting to know about how they made that decision, based on seiyu! True, "gotten over", and wanting are two different things, I'm sure he'd still want his parents together, I'm sure he'd be happy for his parents if they were seeing other people, but probably would be happier if they got back together! That's something I found curious in 02, how the original chosen children were still hiding their partner Digimon from their family, or the fact that the younger children, were also chosen children! I guess it could have been they didn't want to worry their family, I mean "if the Digimon are back, then [insert name(s)] will disappear again", and same for the families of the younger children, perhaps! Apparently that thought no longer applies in -tri-, given how Agumon, Tailmon and Gomamon have the run of the respective homes! That's interesting to know... !
  6. Maybe I missed the memo, but I noticed that the Edit Function appears to have a "time out" period of around most eight days. I noticed earlier that I was not able to edit some of my old posts, but I've identified the "time out" period due to the fact that, I've just noticed that one of the posts I made eight days ago, is also not available to be edited. Is this a new change that was implemented to the site, or a temporary occurence, that will be resolved at a later date? Also, on an unrelated note, but means I do not need to create a new thread, did the site have to be restored to an earlier version between now and 9th January? I ask because, I'm sure that some of the content on one of my posts is missing. It's not really important, but just wanted to know.
  7. There's another variation that features in Persona 4; the bath operates a rotation, in which men and women use the bath at different times, the girls enter at the wrong time, the guys enter later, but the guys are still in the wrong, and are pelted by wooden buckets!? Similar thing happens in Persona 3 as well (guys enter first, then the girls), not sure if it's the same reason or not, although I made sure to escape unseen, I did however see what happens if you don't escape unseen via the Persona 3 movie(s)! Before Determination (Digimon Adventure -tri-) came out, I actually thought it was going to feature the "old" onsen scenario too; Ogremon crashes into the women's onsen, Mimi, Sora, Hikari and Meiko are in there, their screams alert the boys, who come crashing in, only to be pelted with, and knocked out by wooden buckets, Lilymon evolves into Rosemon, Ogremon is defeated! In the end, the "old" onsen scenario was not used, however the girls do cross into the men's area, for reasons revealed in the movie! In regards to Dog Days, doesn't Millhiore like Shinku anyway? Although it cannot be on account of -spoilers-! I need to resume Dog Days at some point, watched series one, but now there's series two and three!
  8. From what I can still remember of the dub, Wormmon's voice matched quite well, and it's a different choice to the direction that the original version went with; a very cute voice! If I'm right, Ken is voiced by Derek Stephenson Prince, and I found it amusing that, he voices a similarly looking character in Bleach, and in some instances (dark spore), similar attitude! I'd say that you need to remedy that with a re-watch of Savers then ! Yeah, you're probably right, I was looking at this too coldly! I was at one point going to argue that the original children may have not considered the moral side of killing due to the "game" theory, but that was only something brought up later, during the Etemon arc (in which Taichi is wreckless, because he believes his main body is safe elsewhere)! What you should say, is that you're compassionate... or God fearing ! You could say I'm chicken too, I'm so "against" killing, I'm vegetarian, although if I did ever go to Japan, I might put my vegetarianism aside, just for the duration of the trip, I mean I have to experience Takoyaki at least! I became vegetarian as I decided I didn't want to eat something killed for "my" benefit, obviously it wasn't killed for "me", it's not like I'm a rich kid, but basically if I ate it, it would be "like" it was killed for "my" benefit! That said, I'm also a hypocrite, because although I don't eat meat, I do still wear leather shoes! Nearly went into all this further, but decided on the subject of politeness, probably best not to! In the example you gave, I try to do the same, herd flies and other insects out of a window! If I was one of the chosen children, and found myself having to kill, either for survival (Adventure), or to protect the city (02), I don't know if I could do it, sure I have looked at it quite logically in my previous posts, but in actuality, would I still use logic? After all, some of this logic, is based on information I would not have to hand, such as knowledge from other universes (Frontier), and of the world! I think if someone had asked me about it before my re-watch, I wouldn't have remembered it either, it was Hikari and Takeru's "date" (1st August), which Daisuke got all upset about, and then got interrupted by the ghost of Wizarmon! You'd think for every hell, there's a heaven, however there was no mention of it on Digimon wikia, although I think there's a heaven, might be mentioned on one of the cards, or something, plus Devimon and LadyDevimon had to fall from somewhere, else they can't be fallen angels ! Just means that Shibuya is possessed; any strange events, will be Gotsumon and Pumpmon ! Interesting idea, and I can see that being the case, as Dinobeemon does have "elements" of XV-mon to it! Looking at wikimon..., it appears that it is also a jogress of Stingmon and XV-mon! Given how ImperialDramon doesn't sport any Stingmon "colours", I think Dinobeemon's ultimate "should" be GranKuwagamon, with GrandisKuwagamon as an answer to ImperialDramon Fighter Mode! I was looking at the evolutionary options for Dinobeemon (excluding ImperialDramon), and GranKuwagamon seemed to be the only one I was "happy" with, and I say "happy", because we're "entering" at the "end" of an evolutionary chain, so kinda doesn't feel 100% right, to me! It seems that Stingmon and XV-mon are the only ones with alternate jogresses, or at least alternate jogresses within the group; I was just looking at the other partners! I have however, come up with some ideas of possible evolutions: Tailmon + Aquilamon > Hippogriffomon > D'Arcmon - Hippogriffomon has a similar colour scheme to Tailmon, four legged posture of a usual cat, and has wings and a beak, same as a bird, whilst D'Arcmon, is kinda cheating, because she's actually an adult Digimon, rather than Ultimate, but didn't like any evolutions from Hippogriffomon, D'Arcmon also plays against the more "male" Silphymon and Valkyrimon; Ankylomon + Angemon > Shakkoumon > Shakamon - Shakamon again is kinda cheating, I couldn't find an acceptible evolution after Shakkoumon, in my opinion, however I stumbled across Shakamon through Angewomon, or Sanzomon, and thought "actually, not bad, and in my opinion, plausible!", it also appears Shakamon can evolve from HolyAngemon, so not that much of a stretch from the evolutionary jogress pool! Valkyrimon is a good shout for Silphymon's ultimate (features in Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer), however it seems that an alternate evolution for Silphymon can be AncientIrismon, although that feels like a knife in the back, on account of JetSilphymon being absent in the anime! As for potential Angemon/Ankylomon possible evolutions, I couldn't find any I was happy with! Now that I'm looking at alternate evolutions, I seem to be unable to stop, as I'm now thinking about non-jogress evolutions: XV-mon > Aero V-dramon > Ultra V-dramon - "only" option, and probably most used option, for XV-mon if not jogressing, also it seems no matter if XV-mon jogresses or not, he still ends up as being a Royal Knight; Stingmon > Cannonbeemon > TigerVespamon - was either this, or Okuwamon > GranKuwagamon, and I decided to make that the jogress, and this the normal, especially as if picked Okuwamon line, Stingmon's orange hair would disappear, only to re-appear later; Aquilamon > Karatenmon > Ravmon - although Garudamon might make more sense, colour scheme, and also, Hawkmon was given one of Garudamon's feathers after all, Hawkmon has a samurai-like nature, even when he isn't Shurimon, so Karatenmon, and from there, Ravmon; Ankylomon > Brachimon > UltimateBrachimon - only choice there was in my opinion, from the options, makes some sense, with the dinosaur theme, although not quite the same dinosaur as before, but then that's how Digimon work some times; Angewomon > Junomon or Venusmon - have no problem with Angewomon to Orphanimon, but just thought these two evolutions were quite interesting, Junomon, because of the similarities of the outfits, and Venusmon, because she's the "clothing" extreme of Orphanimon (one is a very covered up evolution, whilst the other is a very undressed evolution)! Hehehe, well, would make a change, a human villain in Adventure/02, I mean, all the other villains have been Digimon! True, but if she was taken over by bad data, similar to Oikawa, she could be evil, temporarily, not sure how they'd cure her, unless, she "burned" the bad data out of her system, with a tough battle against the other partner Digimon! The cultural differences are a bit hard to get your head around some times! I do believe that Miyako does refer to one of them, or both of them by name, at one point in the episode! As you said, it could be a mistake that Micchan and Tako became Miyako's classmates, it could just be that the animators picked some "under used" character designs for the episode, similar to how Juri's friend Ayaka is featured in the animation to Biggest Dreamer as a "Tamer", but not in the series; it's possible that more of Juri's friends might be "Tamers", but Ayaka's the easiest to spot! Schools work the same in the UK, or at least I think they do, I don't recall anyone being kept back, it was just an automatic progression, quite possibly even if you failed your SATS, although I guess you'd re-sit those, but they weren't really an entrance exam, I don't think! Quite true, MiyaKen doesn't feature as much in the series as SoraYama, so they needed to show more MiyaKen in the epilogue! It's possible, you are shaped by your experiences, so Yamato might try to ensure his marriage does not end in a divorce! I actually wonder if Hiroaki and Natsuko get back together, I mean they seem to be on friendly terms, however, we know as of -tri-, they're not back together! If I was asked which of the two statements I'm more likely to believe is true, I'd have to say Mimi and Koushirou being a couple, is more likely than Hikari and Takeru! However, I know neither is true ! Yeah, as mentioned, I believe it's the same in the UK, however I don't think we even really have entrance exams (unless it's a Private School), as I said, there are the SATS, but I think you can still get into -a- Secondary School if you fail them, although you might need to re-sit them first! Some places, actually, like where I live, have the 11+ (as well as SATS), which could be described as an entrance exam, however I didn't take the 11+ myself, I went to school elsewhere! SATS may possibly be entrance exams, or the second round of SATS at least, given that in some parts of the UK, we have Middle and "Upper" schools, although the Secondary School, I went to covered Years 7 - 11 (Years 1 - 6 were Primary, and Years 12 and 13 were Sixth Form)!
  9. I try to have fair Pokémon battles with all my opponents, even going so far as to use moves that aren't "super effective", unless the only other moves I'm using are "not very effective", or if their Pokémon have the type advantage! On the subject of customisation, it was sad that it was absent in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, I remember a user on YouTube (giancarloparimango11), and his "theories" regarding the upcoming games, along with thoughts when actual information had been released! My GooglePlus avatar (see below) came from one of the images featured in his videos (fanart of May), I also ended up uploading some other images from his videos onto my GooglePlus account (some required quite a bit of internet searching to find), which included a fanart of Roxanne and trainer customisation! I would have liked it if a "Sapphire" variation of the trainer costumes was available, given we've had "Ruby" and "Emerald" variations; in Pokémon Adventure, Sapphire does wear a blue version of her outfit, at one point! Need to find time, and upload some more Pokémon images onto my GooglePlus account, still "missing" images for a couple of characters! I actually thought the actual remake costume for May was quite cute, actually reminded me of Shauna (X/Y), however I would have liked a dress-up option! Almost thought there might have been, as I recently stumbled across the fact that there are key items by the name of "Aqua Suit" and "Magma Suit", I got excited, but then found out they were spacesuits, which I'm guessing are once use only! Actually put some thoughts about Sun and Moon on the Pokémon Series topic, just wondering if I should re-post those thoughts here!
  10. Yeah, I believe it was "in universe", I mean it is definitely "in universe" in Japan, as a follow up special (Mewtwo Returns) screened as a feature length episode, but in the west, it was released as a straight to video movie, so the movie could be classed as part of a seperate universe, but the mind wipe is possibly a hint that that the movie was in the same universe, just that Pokémon didn't know that it was going to be the start of a line of movies, as well as a long running series, actually depending on when the movie was made, the idea of continuing after the first series, may not have entered in their minds yet! I think movie 10 is even canon, looking at Bulbapedia, it seems I'm right, but not for that I was thinking, although it doesn't disprove my reason, just doesn't mention it... unless I'm thinking of the flashbacks from movies 11 and 12 (that formed a movie trilogy with movie 10)! Apparently according to Bulbapedia, all movies are canon (except for one of the versions to movie 14, as they're the same movie, just with different "events"), not sure I really believe that! That's quite true, I can see your point, about survival, maybe I'm being too hard on them! Technically you could argue that the re-born Digimon will not be quite the same as they were before, a point Angemon makes, and again (in seperate canon) is made in Savers regarding Agumon! Similarly I find it crazy how they set up a "pre-established" Digimon partner in Re-Digitise for the protagonist, only for that partner to die because you've not completed the game by the end of its life cycle! Unless that just hints that I was playing the game too slowly! My opinion as to why re-birth might have played into it, was because the re-births as Digitama all happened before/around the first kills, in that they saw that a Digimon will be re-born after death: Angemon returned to a Digitama after defeating Devimon - technically the first kill was Bakemon, I think, but I meant as a group; Wormmon returned to a Digitama some time after the defeat of Chimeramon - although as he was an artifical Digimon did he count, or the fact that the chosen children didn't perform the "kill"? However, my knowledge of Frontier could be influencing my opinion, in that you're purifying evil, by returning them to a Digitama; returning them to their "natural" state! True, it could be argued that a "group" first kill, or that you didn't partake in the first kill, could make you apprehensive, when you are required to take your "first" kill! True, in the episode of Odaiba Memorial, the original eight talk about their adventure in the Digital World, but doesn't seem to come up, although, given that there hasn't been a need for "killing", perhaps they didn't see a need to bring it up! Hikari does mention to Taichi that the 02 quartet will come up against this connundrum, but can't remember where exactly this features, in relation to Odaiba Memorial, and Demon and his "minions"! That's what I read from the article, I could have misread! Basically I think it's a case of evil Digimon go to "hell", although if they're able to let go of what makes them "evil", then they can be purified, and reborn! I didn't think about Gotsumon and Pumpmon not being reborn! Quite true, I do sometimes wonder if the anime should take on these alternate paths, I mean do partner Digimon need to evolve into the same Digimon? I know that there has been some differences in evolution (in the same canons); Greymon to SkullGreymon, Tailmon to Angewomon, Nefertimon and Silphymon (with Aquilamon), 02 evolutions, Angewomon to MagnaDramon and Orphanimon, Growmon to MegaDramon (or whatever it was), and Frontier with Human and Beast spirits! Still, would it be better for it? Yeah, I'd quite like to see Dinobeemon too! Hahaha, I can see that, although I would have said Villainessmon , however D'Arcmon was really Mumuxmon in disguise (Frontier movie), so "male" Digimon masquerading as a "female" Digimon has happened before! Think it might have happened other times too, but don't know! When I read your comment, the first Digimon that came to mind was Rosemon (an evil Rosemon), however given we already have a Rosemon for Adventure, couldn't be Rosemon, Lotusmon perhaps; she kinda featured with Nanami bio-evolving into BioLotusmon (in Savers), but would be the first time Lotusmon actually features! Actually, first Digimon to spring to mind, after thinking about how Rosemon already features, was Lilithmon, probably more appropriate than other choices, plus in one of the Digimon card games, she features on a card along side Alphamon! Managed to see Himekawa's smirk this time, was in a different place to where I thought, was at the split screen bit, rather than the walking away bit! Yeah, could mean she's evil, but also could be that she has come to a closer understanding as to events of -tri-, why Meicoomon was being targeted, etc.! I mean in the first Tamers movie, in my opinion, Renamon has a bit of an evil laugh moment, but nothing happens after that, it could have been I misinterpreted it, or was an "after effect" of absorbing the "strange" Pteramon's data! Didn't realise until this last re-watch of the Tamers movie, that the Omegamon featured, may be Adventure's Omegamon!! It's interesting I bring up the first Tamers movie, as like -tri-, it too has a Digimon nicknamed "Mei", kinda, not quite ! True, it's just when people are similar ages, I believe the rules of honorfics can blur, although even when ages aren't similar, the rules can somtimes be blurry, as someone could be referred to as "older", even if they're "younger" as a sign of politeness, respect, experience, etc.! Well Digimon wikia refer to Micchan and Tako as being Miyako's classmates, might not be 100% true, however they are on the Kyoto trip with her, and appear to know her! It's possible that they're in different years, in that Kyoto is a combined year trip, but I believe Miyako is in year 6 at school, and I'm guessing that's the final year at their school! However as I said, does seem strange, given that they were Mimi's friends in Adventure, unless either Mimi was in the year above, or, nope Mimi would have to be in the year above, given that Koushiro is in the year above too! It could just be the difference between the two couples, both Sora and Yamato may not be outwardly affectionate people by the epilogue; Sora and Yamato may have taken after their parents, in that Sora may be quite reserved, similar to how her mother was, and depending on what Yamato's father's love life might have been like, Yamato might not register a need to be overly affectionate! Still, there's also the argument that everyone's their own person, so Sora and Yamato of the epilogue may not have been shaped majorly by their parents! Nature versus Nurture, and other things; could take this into a fandom debate! Bit confused what you mean here, well the last bit, for silliness ! My mind jokingly thought, did you mean-Koushiro "Do it for papa, my daughter, network with Mimi's son, so I can get closer to Mimi-san!"-? I'm guessing you mean, how close Koushiro and Mimi were with their own children? EDIT: Re-watching the epilogue, I can see what you mean about Koushiro, Mimi and their children looking like a family in the first wide shot, given how close they're standing together! I can also see the "merit" for the divorce argument regarding Sora and Yamato, it was interesting to note that in the first wide shot, Sora is standing closer to Jou, whilst Yamato is standing closer to Taichi; obviously patched things up since -tri- !
  11. Apologies for double post, but I think that the fight between Angewomon and LadyDevimon in 02 was cattier (in the original version at least), but it was also much shorter, as LadyDevimon disappears when the other partner Digimon turn up! There's a "spiritual successor" in the next episode, where Silphymon fights LadyDevimon, but didn't see that as catty, to be honest!
  12. True, the movies could always be set in a different "universe" to the series, I know with Pokémon, it's a bit of give and take; the first movie (Mewtwo Strikes Back) possibly was set in the series "universe", given that Mewtwo Returns was a feature length episode in Japan, rather than a straight to video movie, however the seventh movie (Destiny Deoxys), appears to be set in an alternate "universe", as the episode "Deoxys Crisis" mentions the events similar to that of the seventh movie, and yet Ash, May, Brock and Max who were all present, don't say "I remember"! Back to Digimon, another out of place point to make is, that it appears the chosen children are aware of the Digimon re-birth cycle, whereas although Wormmon is reborn (a bit later on), the 02 quartet still don't seem to get/know, when Demon and his forces attack, re-watching 02, that annoyed me a bit, I mean surely there wasn't need for all that angst, I mean surely the original eight chosen children should have told them that Digimon are reborn! Unless we follow the argument of "because they were evil Digimon, they may not be reborn", because reading into it on Digimon wikia, it appears that evil Digimon can find themselves resigned to "hell", whereas in Frontier it appears they can be purified and reborn, unless that too, is a case-by-case, but I think Lucemon was also scanned at the end of the series, so I think that means everyone can be reborn! I'm now trying to remember about Belphemon, in Savers, was he "purified" too, I think he was, turned back into a Digitama, but can't remember! Think it's only Tamers where "dead is for life", although apparently in one of the early episodes Ruki believes that Digimon have a re-birth cycle, though this may be a dub line! Trying to remember what happens in Xros Wars, I know certain Digimon are purified when the Code Crown is obtained, but don't know if everyone is "purified", such as Lilithmon, still, that's the series I'll be watching next, and I'm digressing! A minor out of place point was in the fourth movie, in which Daisuke has borrowed Jun's phone, which has a phone charm of Yamato on, which is interesting given that Jun is over Yamato, when he saves Sora, that said, I think you mentioned to me at one point (possibly in the -tri- topic), that Jun still attends Yamato's concerts, so thinking about it, it's justifiable that she might still have a phone charm of him! Sorry to clarify, what I meant regarding my comment of "people commented" was "in movie", should have said "characters"! Basically what I meant was that all the characters commented how Vikemon was a new evolution, but when Mimi evolved Lilymon to Rosemon, there weren't the same sort of comments, meaning it can either be read as the characters not needing to say "wow, new evolution", or that it's a subtitle reference to the fact it's happened before, rather than referencing it out right, and people wondering "when did that happen before?" I remember that "indecision" about Zudomon's next evolution! When I was on Digimon wikia, I found out that Vikemon has been used as Armadimon's ultimate as well in one of the games, which I find interesting, as if they were to have the 02 quartet evolving to ultimate, that would mean that Armadimon, theoretically would get different ultimate (unless they stick with jogress for the 02 quartet)! It helps if you're blitzing through Adventure just after watching -tri-, because I thought surely the first new ultimates would be for Sora and Koushiro, then I realised the order in which the crests were obtained in! Yeah the order you recall, is correct! Still, if they do follow the crest order, for Takeru to not be the last to receive a new evolution, would the world be able to cope ? Although as mentioned, if the third movie is classed as canon, then he and Hikari have already received ultimates! True, I didn't think of the e-mail, and as I said, would address a storyline not followed up, which is a no-no in story writing 101, I would think ! They could even revive Demon's storyline (who got sent to the Dark World), I mean he just popped up in 02, making demands, and then got sent away! That said, given how Vamdemon has trolled the chosen children in the series, and Diaboromon has trolled them in the movies, perhaps one of those will be the main villain of -tri-, or given that -tri- was to be a series, and now is a movie, perhaps it will be a jogress of Vamdemon and Diaboromon ! Unless Himekawa is the main villain ! [spoiler=Other thoughts on Adventure and 02]Since my last re-watch of Adventure and 02, I seem to have all these problems with these two series, in that it almost feels like they've written the events, and then when they've been breaking them up into episodes, decided they didn't have enough story to fill the total episodes alloted (54 for Adventure, and 50 for 02)! As I've mentioned, it seems I'd almost completely forgot about the plot of Adventure after episode 39, you can argue that given the time difference between the Digital and Real Worlds at that point, and the absence of Vamdemon, it goes without saying that "someone" would step in to fill the void, however apparently the Dark Masters "pre-date" Vamdemon, so what were they doing during Vamdemon's "reign", and unless this is dub canon, the Dark Masters work for Apocalymon! With 02, I forgot about Demon and his minions, as with the Dark Masters, I almost feel like they might have been to fill a space that they didn't expect to have! Also, when the chosen children are travelling the Real World, unless the Dark Towers aren't active (however in some instances, they appear to be), Digimon seem to be able to evolve to Adult! I find it interesting that Miyako calls Mimi (occasionally), Mimi-oneesama, given that they are relatively the same age, difference of a year, however looks like they're in different years at school, unless that's just based on US and Japanese school systems, given how Micchan and Tako (Mimi's friends from Adventure), are in Miyako's class! Still, I guess honorfic can be used in various ways, so fact that they're similar ages is irrelevant! Watching the third movie I noticed that Hikari and Takeru appear to have two summer outfits, one of which is based on their winter outfits, Hikari's removes her fingerless gloves, whilst Takeru's is a short sleeve top, instead of a long sleeve top! As mentioned, the pattern reminded me of the top Sora wears in the first movie, but looking at her top in that movie, it seems the pattern is slightly different, same/similar colours though! [spoiler=Other thoughts on the Epilogue]I know you mentioned how a couple of the earlier comments by members are fan fiction/theory, just thought I'd weigh in, now after watching the Epilogue, again: Hikari and Takeru - I see no evidence supporting the idea they are/were married, I mean surely if you were married, you'd have stood next to each other during that wideshot (of the original eight and 02 quartet) at the end of the episode; Sora and Yamato - I see no evidence supporting the idea that they are/were divorced, I mean they're standing next to each other through most/all of the epilogue, have to wonder if the theory of divorce was based on the idea Yamato comes from a "broken" home, the argument for the effects of such a thing can be "positive" and "negative"; Mimi and Michael - as you mentioned, it was fan fiction/theory, and when watching the epilogue, it did appear there was no mention of Michael by name! I actually thought that Hiroaki and Natsuko might have gotten back together, but looks like that was me remembering things wrong! Seems you were right about Koushiro working with both Shuu and Haruhiko Takenouchi in the Epilogue, might have been I watched the series a little slower last time, or just didn't remember, but this time, I did see Sora's father! Feels like there's something I've forgotten, but oh well, written quite a bit anyway, writing too much would be overkill ! EDIT: Remembered what I've forgotten now, added to appropriate section!
  13. True, it was just their conviction, that made be believe it could be canon! After all, there are parts of the canon (or were parts of the canon) that I am not aware of, or want to look into, but sites such as Digimon wikia have articles that are written using the dub canon, and not always compare it with the sub canon! Watched the episode featuring Dagomon recently, wow, the "Hanyamon" wanted Hikari to become their Demon Baby Momma!! From the synopsis of the episode on Digimon wikia, I was unsure if that was changed, would have though it would, I mean "you will be our bride, and together we will make superior offspring" (or words to that effect! Although I'm not 100% sure, from the synopsis on Digimon wikia, does look like it was changed, from Hikari being a demon baby momma, to the "Hanyamon" wanting Hikari to be their Queen! Reading some of the dub changes to the series, in some instances, it almost feels like you're watching a completely different show! Actually because Dagomon's storyline was never addressed in the series, do you think it will play out in -tri-? Probably not, but it's a possibility, although would they get Chiaki J. Konaka back? [spoiler=Further divergence onto -tri-]I was also thinking further about -tri-, in that similarly to how all original eight chosen children will have their partners evolve to Ultimate, will we see anymore unaddressed evolutions, from the 02 quartet, so Silphymon and Shakkomon's next forms, or maybe even the perfect, ultimate and unanimated (in 02) Armour evolutions of Veemon, Hawkmon, Armadimon, Wormmon, Tailmon and Patamon, or maybe even Armour evolution of the partners to the original eight, because apparently it's possible; Palmon to CheerGalmon! Just thought given if they keep at the same speed, two ultimates per movie, leaves no new (partner) ultimates in the last two movies, however also requires the 02 quartet finally making an appearance! Was thinking that the order the ultimates are in was odd, but they might be following the order the crests were found in, so that means next would be Koushiro and Takeru (given Taichi and Yamato already got their ultimates), then Sora and Hikari, wow, for a change, Takeru, won't be last, maybe, although technically as Seraphimon did appear in the third movie (third part of amalgam dub movie, he techincally wouldn't be last anyway)! Speaking of which, will the fact that Angewomon has achieved a different ultimate (Orphanimon) to before (MagnaDramon in third movie/part of amalgam dub movie), be referenced? That said, the fact that it was apparently Lilymon's second evolution to Rosemon, wasn't referenced either, although perhaps it was, given how people commented on Zudomon to Vikemon being a new evolution, but the same sort of comment was not mentioned about Rosemon! It's annoying nothing for the third movie is up yet, I mean a low quality poster for Determination was out around the same time Reunion was in cinema, and the teaser in the Determination trailer isn't much to go on, even tried translating the words on screen that popped up during the teaser, nothing of consquence, basically "story unfolds with new developments", if I translated it right
  14. Ah right, thanks for the information, Digimon wikia didn't seem to list CaptainHookmon, or at least in the Never-ever-land page, wonder if Deckerdramon fills the role of the crocodile !
  15. Was on Digimon wikia, and came across these: latest?cb=20111209030132 Tinkermon, and Petermon of Never-ever-land! Apparently they hail from Digimon Web, whatever that is, don't know what year they were created in either! I also came across this, from Digimon Crusader: latest?cb=20140319154319 Was actually aware of these Digimon, Cho-Hakkaimon featuring in Xros Wars Hunter, along with Saigomon(?), but an actual Journey to the West reference, too cool to ignore! latest?cb=20111222051722
  16. In the process of watching 02 at the moment, I stand by my opinion that to Daisuke, friendship is like breathing, so be wouldn't know how to describe it, but in that episode, it also seemed to me that the other forms of friendship had confused him; saving someone pain by "killing" them, and letting your fists do the talking! In regards to "killing" someone to spare them, it's possible that at that point, Daisuke is unaware of the rebirth element to Digimon! As for swapping the Digimentals of other 02 characters, I'm unsure, I mean there have been couple of mentions as to Iori and a curious mind, i.e. a thurst for knowledge, whilst Miyako has knowledge, but currently does not seem to be on a "quest" for more knowledge, however that's what I have concluded, where I am now! In regards for Miyako and love, currently I only have the third movie (or third part of the amalgam dub movie), in which Miyako tries to stop Poromon from fighting Cherubimon, on account of him being injured, there are similar instances with Sora and Piyomon! EDIT: For some reason, I appear to no longer be able to edit old posts, interesting that I forgot that at time of posting this comment originally, and thus had to make an edit !
  17. I didn't think there was that much to it in the Japanese version, Sora and Hikari got annoyed given how LadyDevimon only addressed the boys when she arrived, and Angewomon did take on LadyDevimon, but I don't think there were that many catty moments! There were a few fists exchanged between Angewomon and LadyDevimon, and Angewomon did get a bit annoyed, telling AlturKabuterimon to get out the way, so she could get at LadyDevimon again, but that was it in my opinion! Actually, Hikari got a bit annoyed too, during the fight!
  18. Seems I stand corrected on a couple of points, one being that not all Digimon series follow the same format (just similar), as re-watching Adventure has reminded me that I'd forgotten most of what happened after episode 39, pretty much thinking that that's where it "ended", so its possible that the same could be true for other series! The other point is also on Adventure in that to some extent Devimon and Etemon do pursue the chosen children, but I don't think to as much of an extreme as Cherubimon's "minions"!
  19. Just finished re-watching Adventure, if there were more hours in the day, I'd be starting 02 right now, although in some sense, it's a good thing there isn't, because gives me an opportunity to squeeze in Our War Game, before starting 02 ! Don't you think Taichi in 2027 looks quite similar to his father, same goes for Sora and her mother (the hair's different, but her face is quite similar), Jou looks quite like his brother, Shin (as not re-watched 02 yet, can't say about Shuu, although should also re-watch -tri-, so I can compare him against his parents), not sure about Hikari going off the image here, so will have to wait until I get to the Epilogue! Wait, Mimi married Michael? When did that happen? By that, I don't mean the marriage! Sure her son does look a bit like Michael, but did the romance happen in the audio drama? Or have I forgotten a bit of 02? Wouldn't surprise me, as I just found out re-watching Adventure, I pretty much completely forgot the plot after episode 39!! [spoiler=Slightly off original topic of thread, but still on Adventure/02 ]As I said, I almost completely forgot about the Dark Masters and Apocalymon, I thought they beat Vamdemon, the end! Although I still remembered about Pinochimon, MetalEtamon and some of the events featuring Pielmon, but not Pielmon, so I associated those events with Pinochimon, and Pinochimon as being a "subordtinate" of Vamdemon! Remembering this, I'm now trying to figure how all the villains fit together; first there's Devimon, who I believed to be a "subordinate" of Vamdemon, then there's Etemon, who I also believed to be a "subordinate" of Vamdemon, next there's Vamdemon, who I believed was the "big bad", which was wrong, was he originally a Dark Master who went "rogue"? I considered that the Dark Masters might have arose in Vamdemon's absence, but in the flashback it's shown that they were present before the series! Think I'm going to have to read into it more! Re-watching Adventure, I was noting the different heights of the characters, such as easily observed fact that Mimi is taller than Koushiro, even though they're the same age, that said, I also noticed that Mimi's friends Micchan and Tako are of similar height -I am aware of the usual reason-, however I also noticed in some (all?) scenes Mimi is taller than Lilymon!! Still, size of Digimon appears to be taken with a pinch of salt, as Digimon can be smaller or larger in different series, as with Lilamon in Savers, and Xros Wars, however can also happen in same canon, as Angewomon appears to be larger in Revenge of Diaboromon, than she is in Adventure! Actually Hikari is another, in some (all?) scenes, she seems to be taller than Takeru, looking at her age in Adventure, could be for same reason as Mimi! Was trying to figure out if Sora was also taller than Taichi, in some scenes it looked like she was, but only by an inch or so! I don't know whether Sora has a "hard" hat, or a "soft" hat on, or she wears two very similar hats, I mean in the Digital World, it appears very rigid, as Jou uses it as a drum to defeat Bakemon, but in the real world, it's soft, as evident when her mother returns it to her! The fact that only Agumon and Gabumon's evolutions to Perfect and Ultimate are computer generated kinda annoys me, although it's the same in most of the other series; 02 animated Stingmon and XV-mon jogress only, Tamers misses out all of Renamon's evolutions, and Savers doesn't animate Lilamon to Rosemon, or Yatagaramon to Ravmon! Some how, the anime animated evolutions don't look right when matched against the computer generated ones! Although the evolution sequence in -tri- is a little basic, it seems everyone is treated the same, to a kinda cell shading look animation! You know after re-watching Adventure, and being reminded about bits of plot I'd forgotten, there's something I'd like to see; the adventure of the original chosen children, the ones that first saved the Digital World from Apocalymon! EDIT: On the subject of 02, I have to wonder why Takeru is wearing one of Sora's old t-shirts ! Well, not really, it just has the same pattern and colour scheme of the t-shirt Sora was wearing in the first Digimon movie (first part of the amalgam dub movie)!
  20. Yeah, thanks, as I said, I didn't see it, so I'll have to re-watch to see if I can see this "smirk", could change my whole opinion of Himekawa ! Still, even re-watching it, I might not notice, as I mentioned that in Final Fantasy XIII-2, Alyssa Zaidelle smirks, seen that clip a couple of times, and I've still not noticed that smirk either !
  21. That was something else, given that we're only the second movie, and Yamato's band has already received two different names, do you think this will continue through in the other four movies ? So, further proof, Joe has a girlfriend, we still don't see her, but she texts wishing them both success in their next test, apparently! Might need to re-watch Determination again, because apparently "Himekawa has a smirk unseen by the others"! I didn't even see it, but then, could it be like Alyssia Zaidelle in Final Fantasy XIII-2, apparently she smirks in a certain point, but I didn't see it !
  22. Bit longer than gap between Reunion and this movie, but oh well, however there was a similar gap between the original release of -tri-, when it was to be a television series, and the actual release, when it became a series of movies! [spoiler=Ok, dislikes...] That's something I forgot to mention, Himekawa was aware of Imperialdramon, it wasn't "Who's that Digimon?", so we have the question of how do they know about Imperialdramon, was it data provided by Gennai, or did it feature in tampered memories (theory), because he didn't make an appearance as a Royal Knight in Adventure! I'm assuming this will be the main crux of -tri-, Taichi and Yamato's conflict, Taichi looking at the implications of their fight, whilst Yamato saying that they have to do it regardless! Even Hikari chimed in, saying that she felt what they were doing wasn't wrong! It's possible that this conflict will be on-going until the final movie, in which the resolution of said conflict will awaken Omegamon Crimson Mode , or an Adventure version of Susanoomon, fusing all the ultimates together! [spoiler=Theories...] That was another thing I forgot to mention, that it might not be the real Ken, but a copy! Oh something else I forgot to mention, that ending, WTF!? I know what happened, but man talk about cliff-hanger, now the fact that I know there's a six month wait, it hurts even more! EDIT: That was another thing I forgot, I'm still unsure of "Hypnos Prime", I know it's not called Hypnos Prime, but that's what I dub the organisation Himekawa and Nishijima work for, although if I say it enough, I might feel that Yamaki needs to cross the divide and feature, or just bring in his "Prime" counterpart ! Their performance against Ogremon in this movie/these episodes was a bit rough, I didn't feel there was enough emotion in it; an organisation created to neutralise Digimon, either so the chosen children didn't need to, or because they wanted to show that they didn't need the chosen children! Oh, I could have also described it as "DATS Prime" as well! I shouldn't have done that, now it's making me think more of the idea of "Prime" counterparts!
  23. Apologies for double post, just thought I'd say next part of -tri- is up, so that's either a movie, if you're in Japan, or episodes 5 - 8 if you're following by CrunchyRoll format! So Seven is the new ending for this movie/these episodes, whilst the opening is still Butterfly, but then, Adventure did only have one opening, unless they use Akai Shougeki for later movies, but that would depend on whether they're planning to do 02 movies after this or not! Opening animation is still the same, well in episodes 6 - 8, as an opening animation didn't feature in episode 5, I almost thought made a new one for this movie, but then, I assume the opening animation is only something that (continually) features in the episode format! I was thinking the opening animation might change to account for the new evolutions introduced, but possibly not, or perhaps not until all new evolutions have been introduced! Still, if the opening animation isn't changed, it will mirror the original animation to Butterfly in the series, as the animation to that didn't change, well in the Japanese version! Actually the English version didn't do too bad a job editing the animation to Butterfly, replacing the evolution scenes with scenes from the second ending Keep On! After hearing about the onsen trip, I was expecting it to feature more than just the first episode/thirty minutes of the movie! Although, there were some amusing scenes between Himekawa and Nishijima! However, we're still none the wiser about the 02 quartet in this movie! [spoiler=There be spoilers] From the scenes at the start of the movie, I thought that we were seeing a flashback, Leomon fighting Ogremon, and Digimon Kaiser looking on! We then find out that this is not a flashback, and for some reason Ken has gone back to being the Digimon Kaiser! I don't have a problem with the fact that Ken has become the Digimon Kaiser again, I mean I feel the mysterious e-mail Koushiro received could be read as "conquer your darkness, or it will conquer you", so defeated by Alphamon, he could have been infected by the darkness! The problem I have is with the dialogue from the original eight chosen children, when Mimi said that Ken had taken Meicoomon, there was no question as to why, then there was someone's comment "Him again, why?", why again? Or are we referring to the Digimon Kaiser persona re-manifesting itself, rather than Ken returning? I don't believe we're on an alternate timeline, and when Ken was beaten by Alphamon (in the first movie/episodes 1 - 4) he was as himself, and ot the Digimon Kaiser! I did mention a theory previously about whether the original eight chosen children's memories had been tampered with, and that possibly still could stand! As we were aware, ImperialDramon was set to return, but rather than his/their usual colour scheme, he/they sported a colour scheme similar to that of Psychemon! Similar to how much screen time the onsen was given, the path to new evolutions was given a similar short length of time, with Gomamon and Palmon cycling through evolutions as quickly as Agumon and Gabumon did in the fight against Alphamon, and in a similar way, given that Gabumon and Palmon were already at Adult when the cycling begun! As Rosemon and Vikemon were in a seperate space to everyone else, plus they were the only ones evolved anyway, don't know how big they were compared to WarGreymon and MetalGarumon, thought it was daft that they, well WarGreymon, was smaller than MetalGreymon, but you could say that it's focusing the power more! That said, couldn't really make that much of a comparison beteen Rosemon and Vikemon either, due to camera angles! Still, although the path to evolution was pretty quick, I will give them the keys to the evolution, in that Jou had to realise that he had not been honest with himself, and that Mimi had to be reminded that her pure attitude to things wasn't always wrong, or something! Last points I had to re-watch the previous movie/episodes: first was the comment that "Alphamon was defeated", I'd say more like he made a strategic retreat, I wouldn't say he was defeated by any means; second was that "Omegamon's fusion was broken", it is quite subtle, I mean it starts to happen right before "Alphamon was defeated", so you can miss it, but yes, it is there! Finally, it seems similar to the DS9 episodes in the Mirror Universe, where every time they go, a Ferengi dies, and I've made a similar observation about someone in each series of Flash (2014), Digimon seems to have a habit of killing of Leomon, I mean wasn't Leomon killed off in Adventure, Tamers (obviously, much emotional trauma for Juri), Savers (kinda - Saberleomon), Xros Wars (BadLeomon is killed, and reborn as Leomon), and now they've done it in -tri-, and if he's the original Leomon as in Adventure, someone's got it in for him! Actually there was even a Panjyamon in Frontier, believe he met his "end" too, believe he was purified by a "Digi-scan"! However that just says something about Leomon in Digimon!
  24. Interestingly it appears I didn't notice this post before, however, now that I have, I will post my two cents! How do you find Digimon Frontier compared to the other Digimon Series? Not been that long since I last watched Frontier, but now, with this thread, I almost feel like I should rewatch it, for my opinions to do it justice! Interesting, I'll start by saying my favourite series is Tamers, and unlike a couple of people on here, I also quite liked Savers and Xros Wars (not 100% sure of Hunters)! I agree with sapphiresky, that each series brings a new enjoyable aspect to the table! Spirit evolution was an interesting addition, would have liked it if they'd explored it a bit more, in the case of double spirit evolutions, I would have liked Izumi, Junpei, Tomoki and Koichi to have received the power of double spirit evolution, not just Takuya and Koiji - I'll expand on later! The Digital World in Frontier was the most real, and I use this kinda in a negative sense, but stow the pitchforks for a moment, I did like how colourful it was, physical might be a better word than real, Xros Wars Digital World is also quite physical in appearance, however I feel the bizarre and digital elements of the Digital Worlds in other series call out to me more: Adventure - Various technological objects were scattered about, like telephone booths and telegraph poles, etc.; Tamers - Digital sky and that dust data packets; Savers - Digital streams and flowers! Actually, Frontier's Digital World had some elements similar to Adventure's, such as the factory where Junpei's human spirit was, and the fact it assembled and disassembled items, I believe that was not too unlike a factory in Adventure! If I think about it, all Digimon series seem to have the same structure: Chosen children try to defeat a threat to that Digital World; Half way through the series they "accomplish" this only to discover a new bigger threat; They spend the remainder of the series defeating this new threat! Even though they are re-using the same story frame, it doesn't mean this series, or any of the other series before or after this are unwatchable, a possible difference between this series and the others, is the handling of Cherubimon's "minions" (Ranamon, Mercurymon, Grumblemon, Arbormon and Duskmon), in other series they usually stay put whilst the chosen children "seek" them out, but in this series, you could say it's a mixture of the two! There's even added elements: Ranamon, Mercurymon, Grumblemon and Arbormon are "incomplete" when you first encounter them, so not only are the chosen children on a path of evolution, but so are the "villains", as they're in search of their beast spirits; Duskmon's troubled mind in regards to Koiji (trying to remember if Duskmon was "troubled" by Koiji before, or after encountering him)! Another thing I like the backstory featuring HolyAngemon, Orphanimon and Cherubimon, actually thinking about it, this might be the first series in which there is a history of the Digital World, I mean we hear how Lucemon fell from grace and was defeated by the Ten Legendary Warriors, and of how the Trinity of Holy Digimon governed the world until Cherubimon was corrupted by Lucemon - that's another point in Frontier's favour! Still getting back to HolyAngemon, Orphanimon and Cherubimon, I like the fact you have a "completely" Human Digimon (HolyAngemon), and "completely" Beast Digimon (Cherubimon) and a Digimon that could have been either (Orphanimon and MagnaDramon), or maybe both, if she can slide evolve! Might be imagining it, but did Cherubimon have feelings for Orphanimon? If he did, it's interesting, because if she reciprocated those feelings, would she take the form of MagnaDramon? Also if she did, this would change the spirit balance, as Orphanimon and HolyAngemon orginally held five spirits in total, whilst Cherubimon held five on his own! Your favourite Digidestined and why? Izumi or Junpei, perhaps! Izumi with her multi-lingual quirk, and her development in the series, where she is able show off her real self, similarly with Junpei, before his journey into the Digital World, he is unable to make real friends! Your favourite Hybrid and why? Fairymon, perhaps! Could be partly based on the fact Izumi is one of my favourite chosen children, especially as we come back to multi-lingual quirk, but she is also a pretty playful character with her moves, favourite instance is where she tries to break Orphanimon's cage using Carino Anca, before sliding to Shutumon! How did you find the ending? Content wise, I don't think I had a problem with the end, I quite liked the "Ten Warriors Finishing Move" at the end of the fight, however in regards to closing the book on Frontier, there are a could of things I'd still like to see, and some things that I might have done differently! Like to have seen: Going back to spirit evolution, would have liked it if they'd explored it a bit more, in the case of double spirit evolutions, I would have liked Izumi, Junpei, Tomoki and Koichi to have received the power of double spirit evolution, not just Takuya and Koiji! I am aware that this is a common occurence, not just in Digimon, but other series as well, that the main protagonists usually receive more power than anyone else, so another Frontier movie, one set after the series would be nice, although only if we can get to see more double spirit evolutions, such as JetSilphymon! Question is what scenario could they make that would require such an event, maybe Takuya and Koiji are held hostage (without their digivices), however their captors are too powerful for single spirit evolution? Another idea is whether there could be alternate forms of Susanoomon, depending on who are serving as the basis for the "Anicent Spirit Evolution", rather than Takuya and Kouji, could we have a Izumi and Junpei variation, Susanoomon: Storm Mode? I'm sure I mentioned it on a thread here, possibly one I created, but can't find it, I also can't edit old posts, which is strange! Not sure if "Storm Mode" is the name I originally used, because I think I considered a Izumi and Tomoki variation, or Junpei and Tomoki variation, either of which could possibly also be a "Storm Mode"! Might have done differently: Towards the end of the series we were introduced to another group of children in the Digital World, Katsuharu, Teppei, Chiaki and Teruo, two of whom pushed Tomoki onto a train to the Digital World! When these characters were introduced, I thought that the "extra" spirits that the main chosen children had collected, would transfer to the other children's phones, transforming them into digivices, and thus the team's numbers would increase! As we know this wasn't the case, I don't know if it would have been better or worse for it, but it was just a thought I had! Another thought I had was whether the forms of Ranamon, Mercurymon, Arbormon and Grumblemon that featured in the series were "incomplete" manfestations, or childforms similar to Takuya as Flamemon, but looking at Digimon wikia, evidently that's not the case! Personally I feel that Agnimon, Wolfmon, Fairymon, Blitzmon and Lowemon look quite different to Ranamon, Mercurymon, Arbormon and Grumblemon, hence my original thought, Chakkmon closer resembled the latter Digimon, to the former! I wondered that if the Spirits used, were swapped around, would the Digimon be different, would Fairymon take on a different appearance if she had "manefested" rather than being used by Izumi, and vice versa, would Ranamon's appearance be different if the Human Spirit of Water was used by a chosen child, rather than "manefesting"? Noticed we don't have a thread for Tamers or Savers, with you creating a thread for Frontier, because there wasn't one, I'm now tempted to create threads for Savers and Tamers !

    Pokemon Series

What to start with, first, hello, I'm usually lurking on the Digimon side of this forum, you can probably guess by the avatar, however saw the Sun/Moon thread, then saw this one in "similar threads" table! So that's the easy bit out the way, now the harder bit! [spoiler=Generation II vs. Generation III]I agree with other people that Gold, Silver and Crystal were good additions to the series, and that it's good they got remade, given that "the internal battery has run dry" doesn't happen on the remakes ! Unfortunately, listening to the soundtrack, I believe they've played around with the music too much, for my liking! Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the other hand, I feel have remained very faithful, same can be said for LeafGreen/FireRed! I also feel that Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald were good additions to the series, I hadn't played LeafGreen/FireRed, until recently (lack of funds, also meant I missed out on the whole of Generation IV too), they too are a good addition, though, that's a given, due to the fact they are based on Red and Blue, but with added elements! [spoiler=Who's that Pokémon?]In my heyday, I feel I would be able to name most of the Pokémon up to Generation III, at least, as I'm not on top of things these days, perhaps not, I could even name some of the Pokémon in Japanese, including Generation V Pokémon! However like with other people, I do agree that in some of the later games, Pokémon designs were terrible, though I felt this was after Generation III! I usually pick Water or Grass (in my main game: Squirtle (Blue), Totodile (Gold), Treecko (Sapphire), Oshawott (Black), and you know what, I can't remember who I picked now in LeafGreen (might have been Bulbasaur), and Alpha Sapphire (quite possibly Treecko))! That said, my first copy of Generation II was a Chinese Bootleg, so technically my first Generation II choice was Chikorita! I have occasionally made my choices based on the anime, or manga: Sapphire - I went for Treecko, so May would pick Torchic; Black - I picked Oshawott, so Bianca would pick Tepig! For a change I went with Fire in X, because most of everyone I know, was going for Froakie, and decided I'd be different, which normally would mean I'd be going Grass, but I didn't like Chespin's evolved forms, so Fennelkin it was! [spoiler=I Choose You!]I've actually compared my starter type choices to the choices that appear in the various Pokémon "sources" (anime, manga, etc.), and noticed some similarities, some of which were purposely done, though the earlier stuff was coincidental, but thought I'd provide a list! Here's a list of choices where the game completely reference a "source": Generation I (Red) - Bulbasaur ("Red"/protagonist) and Charmander ("Blue"/rival) match the choices in Adventures for Red and Blue, and if Generation I unused female protagonist featured, you could extend this to match Green with Squirtle; Generation II: Gold - Totodile ("Gold"/protagonist) and Chikorita ("Silver"/rival), match the choices in Golden Boys (manga) for Gold and Black, and if Generation II female protagonist (Kris) featured earlier, you could extend this to match Chris with Cyndaquil; Silver - Cyndaquil ("Gold"/protagonist) and Totodile ("Silver"/rival), match the choices in Adventures for Gold and Silver, and if Generation II female protagonist (Kris) featured earlier, you could extend this to match Crys with Chikorita; [*]Generation III: Ruby - Torchic ("May"/protagonist) and Mudkip ("Brendan"/pseudo-rival) match Adventures for Sapphire and Ruby, and anime series including movies, as May has a Torchic, and in one of the movie openings, where Brendan cameos, he has a Mudkip, plus Adventures link can be extended, as Wally has Treecko in Adventures, and in this scenario, Treecko is unpicked; Sapphire - Treecko ("Brendan"/protagonist) and Torchic ("May"/pseudo-rival) match the choices in Pocket Monsters Ruby-Sapphire (gag manga), and the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Animated Trailer, although May does also have Mudkip; Emerald - Mudkip ("May"/protagonist) and Treecko ("Brendan"/pseudo-rival) match Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Animated Trailer, although May does also have Torchic; LeafGreen - Bulbasaur ("Red"/protagonist) and Charmander ("Blue"/rival) match the choices in Adventures for Red and Blue, if both protagonist choices featured together in the game, you could extend this to Squirtle ("Leaf"/female protagonist), matching Green in Adventures; [*]Diamond (to be played) - Turtwig ("Lucas"/protagonist), Chimchar ("Barry"/rival) and Piplup ("Dawn"/Professor's Aide) match the choices in Adventures for Dia, Pearl and Platina; [*]Generation V: Black - Oshawott ("Hilbert"/protagonist), Snivy ("Cheren"/male rival) and Tepig ("Bianca"/female rival) match the choices of Touya, Cheren and Bianca in Pocket Monsters BW: Meeting with the Legends (manga); White2/Black2 (to be played) - Tepig ("Nate"/protagonist), Oshawott ("Hugh"/rival) and Snivy ("Rosa"/Subway battle partner) match the choices in the Animated Trailer; [*]Generation VI: Y - Froakie ("Serena"/protagonist) and Chespin ("Calem"/main rival) match the choices in Adventures of Y and X, Shauna doesn't receive a Kalos starter in Adventures; Alpha Sapphire - Treecko ("Brendan"/protagonist) and Torchic ("May"/pseudo-rival) match the choices in the Animated Trailer, although May does have Mudkip in that trailer too; Omega Ruby - Mudkip ("May"/protagonist) and Treecko ("Brendan"/pseudo-rival) match the choices in the Animated Trailer, although May does have Torchic in that trailer too; In other games, there are links, but not as complete, or exact match as those above: Generation I (Blue) - Bulbasaur ("Gary"/rival) matches How I became a Pokémon Card (manga) and Electric Tale of Pikachu (manga); Generation II (Crystal) - Chikorita ("Kris"/female protagonist) matches Crys in Adventure; Generation III (FireRed) - Squirtle ("Leaf"/female protagonist) matches Green in Adventure; Generation IV: Pearl (to be played) - Chimchar ("Dawn"/protagonist), Piplup ("Barry"/rival) and Turtwig ("Lucas"/Professor's Aide) match DP Adventure (Dawn/Mitsumi), anime (Barry/Barry) and Adventure (Lucas/Dia); Platinum (to be played) - Piplup ("Dawn"/protagonist), Turtwig ("Barry"/rival) and Chimchar ("Lucas"/Professor's Aide) match anime (Dawn/Dawn) and DP Adventure (Barry/Jun); [*]Generation V: White - Snivy ("Hilda"/protagonist) and Oshawott ("Bianca"/female rival) match Adventures, if both protagonist choices featured together in the game, you could extend this to Tepig ("Hilbert"/male protagonist), matching Black in Adventures, alternatively, if was playing as male protagonist, would match Be the Best! Pokémon B+W perfectly, as Snivy (protagonist), Oshawott ("Bianca"/female rival) and Tepig ("Cheren"/male rival); Black2/White2 (to be played) - Snivy ("Rosa"/protagonist) matches Rosa in Animated Trailer; [*]Generation VI (X) - Froakie ("Serena"/main rival) matches Y in Adventures! As for Yellow, technically the protagonist's "choice" is a link to the anime, and fact the rival has an Eevee, was possibly inspiration for the anime, however Gary's evolves into Umbreon, rather than one of the three from the game! Was just playing LeafGreen, so I stand corrected, I chose Squirtle, possibly matching my choice in Blue, might look for a link for choosing Leaf and Bulbasaur in FireRed, but don't think there is one! [spoiler=Mega-Evolution vs. Evolution]Although mega-evolutions are interesting, I am disappointed, because it's a way for GameFreak to avoid making new evolutions, and it also means that they're shutting the door on some Pokémon that don't have many/any evolutions! It's a shame as some of the mega-evolutions, I'd like to have seen as evolutions, I doubt GameFreak will make a "branch" event, in which some Pokémon evolve into something similar to their mega-evolutions (some minor alterations here and there), but I'd like them to! I have a running joke that if any middle evolutionary stage Pokémon were to receive a mega-evolution, it would be that Electric Mascot, Pikachu ! On the subject of evolutions, I'm sure, like with many people, we've thought of our own, can't remember all my ideas, however I have an idea for a combined previous evolutionary stage to Tauros, Miltank and Bouffalant, which will be based on a hybrid branch evolution: First Criteria - Is it male or female? If female, will evolve into Miltank, if male, evolution will be based on a second criteria; Second Criteria - Is this evolution happening on a game with an Eastern (similar to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh) or Western (similar to Unova and Kalos) setting? If Eastern, will evolve into Tauros, if Western, will evolve into Bouffalant! I would also have the option to "cheat" the second criteria, by introducing held items of Kanto and Unova grasses, which when equipped, will allow you to obtain the desired evolved form regardless to the setting of the game! Alternatively you could have the Hitmon criteria, but I like to avoid the question of "if you can have a Bouffalant in Kanto, why wasn't there one in Generation I?" Still if I had any pull with GameFreak, I'd also request that they change the twenty year old level up mechanic for Slowpoke to Slowbro, to the same mechanic for Mantyke to Mantine! It would be more in line with the actual evolution description, I believe! [spoiler=Future: Generation VII and Remakes]Another thought I had, was that for Generation VII, they base the new region, on the UK, or just England (might be best to avoid the political minefield of simplifying the United Kingdom into a "country"), and have it link to Kalos via an over water rail-link! You could argue "why not have the new region based on Germany, Spain or another country bordering France?", but at least with it being separated by water, you avoid the question of "why could you not go there before if it was bordering Kalos?", and Kalos' underground rail network is perfect for avoiding the question of "where were the ports to the other region?", I'm sure some people hoped to go back to Johto in LeafGreen/FireRed, am I right? I might not be ! Before the digital version of Red, Blue and Yellow were announced, I did wonder if they would remake the remakes (LeafGreen/FireRed), I would have liked that, although simply for the reason that those that were pretty much Generation I exclusive characters (certain Elite Four like Lorelei, etc.), or had their roles reduced in Generation II, would receive VS. screens, kinda put everyone on par with each other! EDIT: Put everything into sections, think that's neat enough for now !
