  1. Hopefully this is the last question I'll have. Should a thread on the film just be started in the "general discussion" Anime forum? I looked but I didn't see on there yet :3
  2. I thought I might try to participate, since I haven't had much time to relax lately. Do we just watch the film and then find the thread discussing it? I think I should be free Wedensday evening (I'm on Chicago time.)
  3. Sounds interesting! Depending on the day and the time, I might want to join. I, too, keep a pretty busy schedule...but it's anime
  4. I haven't watched the version on Netflix. I'm a little divided on whether I should. I really liked the first version I watched, but haven't watched any of the versions that came out after (I did start...um...I forget what version it was called, but it had the American pilot with the glasses?) It was okay, but I never finished it since my anime buddy is the one who owned them, and I moved too far away to hang out with him. I might check out the Netflix version if I get a chance :3 (by the time I get to it, it'll be off the streaming XD It always happens with movies I want to watch.)
  5. Thanks for the welcome! Nice to meet you, too! ^_^ Thank you both! Everyone here's been super friendly and welcoming! :D Thank you thank you! Ghostly potato LOL! That's interesting XD I'm re-reading Sailor Moon now. And still loving it after all these years! I heard about the Fruits Basket reboot. I was a little sad the first series never ended. Not sure if the manga is the same, cause I didn't finish it. It looks promising, though, so I may check it out :3 I need to finish Sailor Moon Crystal. I was watching it on Hulu, but we don't have an account, and I haven't been able to see if I can watch more. I know they fixed some of the animation complaints, but I think I got to start of the Black Moon arc before I had to stop. Thanks so much for the suggestions! Gotta start digging for those now :D Oh, Wolf's Rain was awesome! It really enjoyed it! I had the two volume manga for a while, but traded it in a few years back. I wouldn't mind a re-watch of it :3
  6. Not too long ago I watched Revolutionary Girl Utena. *o* It makes me want to read the manga The Saiyuki anime doesn't hold up so well. I mean, the series started off okay, but Minekura (mangaka) probably was sick and the anime caught up and the filler was just...so repetitive! Still, the opening song and ending song's amazing for the first season XD Not sure if anyone's watched it, but I think it's shounen: I LOVED Gundum Wing. Holy crap. That was my jam! Giant robots, drama, action and a smattering of politics (but not like, real politics, ew!) I want to re-watch it.
  7. @Seshi: Oh! I don't have any anime I'm selling. I'm sorry, I misunderstood XD I traded most of it into Half Priced books (and kept the series near and dear to me :3) I like some Shounen, I think FMA is that, and I like what I've read of the original Dragon Ball I'm going to get stoned here, but I don't like DBZ XD Oops... @illusion of Terra: good! I'm 35, so it's nice to know I'll have a handful of peers :D And thank you so much for the thread referral! Edit: @Glitter spring: Thank you so much! If it's the Sailor Stars, I'm all for it XD (bad joke.)
  8. Thanks for the welcome!! Not sure if there's a way to import the list, but a few of my favs listed on my profile: Sailor Moon, Magic Night Ray Earth, Fushigi Yuugi (first season only) Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist (both series), Gurran Lagann, Ghost in the Shell Millennium Actress, Paprika, FLCL, Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue Akira, Darkside Blue, Vampire Hunter D (both films,) Ninja Scroll (film. Never saw the series) Princess Mononoke & Howl's Moving Castle Basically anything that had been sitting in the window of the Block Buster Video that had a faded cover XD
  9. Hey there! Soooo...dunno why it took me so long to decide to join an anime forum. Life got busy and I didn't realize how out of touch I was with the anime scene until some of my otaku friends were talking about stuff I'd never heard of. So...I hope I'm not totally out of place here cause I feel I *may* be older than a lot of the people. Maybe not? But I want to check out some new animes and manga and get back into it I tend to like the fantasy genre, and that's what I make my own comic about. Love love love Sailor Moon, the first part of Fushigi Yuugi, Rg Veda, Saiyuki/Saiyuki Reload, Bebop, and a ton of older anime. I'm open to suggestions for new ones. Anything resembling Record of Lodoss War would be great, too. Hope this wasn't too long. I realize no one probably cares about a newby X'D
  10. There's so many things about anime that makes it's beautiful to me! I love how artists are able to really capture the atmosphere they're trying to achieve! There's always so much detail (*of course, unless it's like stylized like Crayon Shin-chan,) and there's a fluid, smooth movement...it's very organic. The colors are often vivid and eye-catching, but can be muted if it's stylized, like with the 12 Kingdoms (I wish the author would finish that series) or Mushishi. I also love emotion and expressions, exaggerated or serious. I can just gush over anime all day XD
  11. My dudefriend and I have been trying to catch up on JoJo's Bizzare adventure. We got through the Netflix 2 seasons, and we started on season three, but he's not a fan of subs (I am...but...uh, I'm the sorta "otaku." I'd never seen Outlaw Star, so we also have been watching that together (but haven't seen an episode in a while..hmm...need to get back on that.) And I've also picked up Saiyuki Reload again...but I've yet to see where they're going to get back to the story o_O I'm like 18 episodes in, and I'd have thought Hazel would have been in the manga by now...so....
  12. I want to finish the rest of the series, but depending on your tastes (and age,) I really enjoyed Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload. Absolutely anything by CLAMP. I love Rg Veda, but Wish was cute, Shirahime Shyo was beautiful and is a one-shot of short stories. Um...they have longer series like X/1999 & XXXholic (I want to finish! It was good!) Chobits (never read, not up my alley.) Grrr...I need to find out of there are translations of Minekura's other Saiyuki works. I think it was published under TokyoPop...and...they went under. (didn't they?) Ooo! I've gotten through book 2 of Children of Whales. It's really good so far! No spoilers, though
  13. My first manga was the "Pocket" Sailor Moon from Hastings (ours went out of business years later when kids were stealing pokemon cards. I'm sure there were other contributors XD) I still have them (even though it's not a full set.) The comic was poorly flipped, and some of the pages were cropped off. It was awesome! But they never got the complete series, so I didn't ever finish the manga until it was re-released. I was soooo stoked when they did that!
