  2. I'm a little late the party, but welcome! I paint balled a couple times when I was younger... I was not very good XD But it was fun to try :3
  3. My paternal grandma was from the Philippines! That's about as close as I get X'D Anyway, welcome! Good luck with your classes!
  4. @Serge hearltess That's an interesting video! I've watched some of Yuta's Japanese courses, and I think he explains things very well (though I haven't had time to actually practice.) I appreciate you sharing it. I do want to clarify that I am referring to if the film is moved to the New York (as the setting) and is targeting a U.S. audience. I don't see the point in changing characters with names like Kaneda, Kei, and Akira to...Causaian actors. But that said, at the end of the day, I am looking for a film that is good. If they end up changing the character's background, but make a good movie, I'll be less annoyed than if we get another Dragon Ball Evolution. I wasted money to see it in theaters, and I'm still pissed (I need to get over it XD) Ugh! And yes...the flesh monster...you know they would just CGI it up...it could look horrible if they're not careful (which...let's face it, Hollywood quite often ISN'T careful about these things...) But..maybe that's partly they had the dude who did Blade on the project for a while (anyone remember the large vampire who couldn't go anywhere?) I think he left or got booted off? I watched the video the other day...I think he was canned...Lots of people have come and gone, apparently o_O I got a little confused on who was in charge of what from the video! Is DiCaprio supposed to be the director or the producer? Then they kept talking about Waititi? I don't understand if he was supposed to be a writer, director? So many people involved! My comment about diversity (which I didn't make clear, my apologies!) was related to my first comment about them potentially moving the setting the New York. If they keep the setting in Japan, which would be my personal preference, then the characters should reflect a post-apocalyptic Japan. I totally agree with you there!
  5. I'm a little nervous...I mean, it's cool they plan to maybe use elements from the comic-and the concept of parts of New York being owned by another country is...probably where the future's going (without sounding too pessimistic or jaded...) I like that they may use parts of the comic: it was a pretty big series, and there's lots to pull from. If they do it right, it could be interesting. I just hope they make a good film. And it would be nice to give the lead parts, you know, to some Asian-American actors. I think Hollywood needs to stop insulting our intelligence: people will watch this, even if the leads aren't white. The fans don't WANT to see white people playing the lead (I don't, anyway.) I would prefer a film that actually reflects the diversity of the US...we're not stupid, and I think Hollywood's insulting people by catering to an outdated philosophy. Anime nerds (me) are the ones who will be seeing this film and supporting it: I can't speak for everyone, but I don't care about having a massive Hollywood star--I want to see actors who will carry the story, and are as diverse as a city like New York. I don't think comedy is going to lend itself very well to this story, though...I think Waititi was talking something about that in the video. I liked Thor Ragnarok, and I think he's a great director, but I think that kind of comedy will be jarring for this story. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
  6. The library! And Netflix (my dudefriend has Amazon flicks...but we don't check them out often...except Rifftrax XD)
  7. I love the sound of rain, too! My dude friend puts on the sound of rain so we can sleep It's been cold here. Not freezing yet, but we finally gave in and put the heat on 68 (gotta try to keep the bill down...)
  8. Material for table cloths (uh...for a convention in December.) And animal cracker cookie packets for Halloween... ... We had no one knocking on the door...now we have to eat the animal crackers XD BOO-hoo (not serious, I love animal crackers XD)
  9. Man, we're getting so close to the next season! I can't wait :3 Also, can you believe it's already November!? o_O Edit: I think I'd actually like to get a copy of the sound track. I was able to find the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack years ago, and it was a staple on my play list for YEARS XD I like the care they put into the songs for a TV show :3 You can tell they really care about the quality and listenablility (that's not even a word XD)
  10. I just caught up with season 1 the other night. I am super excited for Season 2! I'm also glad it isn't just one season, because as much as I enjoyed it, I think ending it here would be a little anti-climactic XD Regarding the competitors...can I just say I loved the Mermaid Sisters (or whatever their name was) song! I thought it was hilarious (the lyrics) and sounded awesome. But...I like old music XD I agree most of the competitor's songs were just...okay. I think it's hard to write good songs for a future that doesn't exist, but I would have liked to see a bit more variety in the winners To be honest, the old dudes were another personal favorite XD Whoop whoop! December will be here before you know it!
  11. No prob! I was interested in knowing, too
  12. Hey o! Okay, I did some digging, and I REALLY feel this character is from FATE. I am not sure the character name, since I haven't read or played it. Or watched it. I think the text is just meme fuel, as that's a common downloadable "manga" font, and it's not one I *generally* see in manga (not to say it's never there XD) Thanks for sharing an image! It's a tiny bit easier to track this stuff down with an image :3 Here's a link to another image: And here's a fandom page that may help you find more about the series. https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Rider_of_Black Good luck
  13. Congrats! All the entries were really great!
  14. Ah So cool! Thanks so much for posting this update!! :3 You rock
  15. I'm enjoying it so far. I have a very eclectic taste in music, so I love seeing the episode titles. The songs are pretty good for animation, too. As much as I love Steven Universe, and I'm sure I'll get flack for this, I don't always enjoy most of the songs. Some are fun, but it's definitely aimed for kids, whereas this is probably for an older audience. I'm on episode 10 right now. One thing my dudefriend said was that it reminded him of Megalobox, only for music. I could see the similarities, but...I think it's they're going to be different. And I'm enjoying them both :3 If you chill shows with lots of music, a bit of humor, and a lot of competition, you might like it
  16. Welcome! Hope you're able to pick up some new titles to watch :3 If you like tear jerkers: Grave of Fireflies. I bawled my eyes out for most of this film. An action anime I really liked (and is pretty popular,) was Gurren Laggan. I'm pretty basic XD
  17. Do you remember any key words special to their world, or any character names at all? Or...um...any idea how he was dressed? Do you remember at all if it looked 80s or 90s, or was it more modern? I'm trying to see if I can find anything :3 I was finding characters with that description in Blue Exorcist, but I don't think it's what you're looking for since a school is involved.
  18. I can appreciate the art of DVD covers, and wanting to support the industry...but some of the prices when I was younger were really...unreasonable. Four episodes or 5 episodes were sometimes given, but not always. I had started buying the Inu Yasha series back in the day...and there were only three episodes per disc. If you're getting it new at like Best Buy, it was between $20/$30 a pop (not necessarily counting tax.) Especially if you're looking a massive anime series like Inu Yasha: $30 for 3 episodes (which is how they were originally sold,) and there's 193 episodes that's roughly $1,920. Probably not counting sales tax. That is not something I can afford to invest XD I regret not saving my money now that I'm in my 30s...I should have been more discerning in which series I purchased (but, hey, hindsight's 20/20.) But...that's me personality, and I'm not much of a collector, so I can respect people who enjoy collecting the art. There are certainly series I do still have that I will never get rid of that have lovely cover art and I want to keep. I just don't think it's viable to do it for every anime series that comes out XD At least, not on my budget!
  19. I really love the detail in their eyes! Looks really good!
  20. Ugh! I absolutely hate "stan" also! Just because 1) it reminds me of Eminem 2) the sh*t Stan does isn't something to joke about (even the video made that clear 3) I just like Dido's song better. Not a big fan of sampling *usually* It has to be done well before I will enjoy it. I just wanted to share this random crap that floats to the top of my brain. Gotta let it out, or it'll explode XD: Most probably don't realize that the relatively harmless "She Loves You" was already a source of Beatles' controversy because the public thought saying "yeah yeah yeah" instead of "yes yes yes" was going to make all the kids speak improper English. ... Well...I mean, not sure you can blame one song for that, but okay XD I don't mind slang...I mean...it depends on what it is. Some of it's super annoying, some it I'm just "meh, this, too, shall pass." I use a lot of 60s slang XD
  21. I'd definitely agree with the rushed feel of the film! It was still beautiful, just like the first, in spite of the rushed story. And the potion's draining of life makes sense. It pretty much sets up that regardless of the war's outcome, these guys...uh...aren't going to survive. I do feel the blonde demon was better rounded...but still needed a bit more development. I also thought her brother just kinda came out of the blue! I was like, what!? Or was the "chic" in the first movie who was talking to guy with TB actually her brother all along? Maybe I missed that I'm so confused! I gotta find the series somewhere, I'm sure it goes slow enough for me to comprehend
  22. That's good to know! I didn't realize it was still airing! Wow!
  23. Thank you I wanted to make them a little different from how I've seen most people do it :3
