  1. I haven't seen Overlord or Erased, so those will be a good place to start. I have seen the rest of those.
  2. If any of you saw my introduction thread, you might have seen me mention that I have been an anime fan for a long time, but went on a sort of hiatus which probably means I missed some good ones. Now I had been watching a little bit here or there, like I've seen Attack On Titan, Orange, D-gray man: Hollow, I tried Re: Zero and Yuri On Ice and didn't really like them, but if anyone good suggestions for anime's, I'd love to hear them. Some of my favorite anime that I've seen are Full Metal Alchemist, Hanasaku Iroha, Orange, Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso, Myself; Yourself and Tokyo Ghoul. I'm also pretty keen on movies as well like The Place Promised In Our Early Days, everything Ghibli, Wolf Children, Haruka and the Magic Mirror and several like those. So, I mean, I've seen a lot, but obviously also missed a lot, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
  3. One thing I never see a lot people talk about is Paranoia Agent. That anime is extremely odd with a lot of pace changes despite it not being that many episodes. The first few episodes are just interesting because seeing people's paranoia and self-doubt culminate to their eventual murder is really enticing and different. The whole anime could have been that and I would have been fine with it. Then however, an agent shows up who is trying to catch the murderer and it goes rather fantasy style in a modern setting for some odd reason. I mean, it all seems to be in said agent's head, as were often shifted in between what he sees and what's actually happening, but it just gets so out there.
  4. I have a thing with dubs vs subs that a lot of people I've talked about it over the years don't seem to like. The history of anime that's been dubbed kind of goes like this: It was at first, hardly taken seriously by anyone save a few actors, so if the dubbing of a show was borderline horrible and almost unwatchable, it didn't matter. Because of this, we grew into the mentality that subs are better because the voice actors were better. However, it seems to me like Japan caught wind of that and decided to teach all their voice actors how to do about 5 to 7 different voices, (5 for women, 7 for men. don't ask me why, but that does seem about as far as the variation of voices goes) that were popular at the time, and all anime characters are now required to sound pretty much the same, even if the setting doesn't fit the voices the actors have been taught to do. In turn, companies that dub anime caught wind of that and decided to up their game, allowing their actors to use a variety of different voices and hiring new actors often. Occasionally, you still get different voices out there in Japan like Maka from Soul Eater or Natsu from Fairy Tail, but those are few and far between. So, to answer the question, it depends on a few things, 1, if you like the anime voices that have been around for the last 20 years in Japan, watch the subs, 2, if you like good voice acting, depending on when the show came out, watch the subs, or the dubs, but pay attention to anything that came out before FMA, because there's a hit and miss period there and 3, if you want characters to not sound the same all the time and are watching a more recent anime, watch the dubs, because they are, in my opinion, superior to a lot of subs. Also, there are certain anime where the dubs are just the better option regardless of timing, like FMA, DBZ and Hellsing Ultimate, and that's true the other way around, because anime like Bleach and Naruto are pretty horrible dubbed, what with names being pronounced incorrectly and all. Then again, they are about the last anime's that had that issue.
  5. That's not a bad idea actually. I am a journalist of sorts. I might just do that.
  6. The last anime I watched was Tales of Zestiria the X, from start to it's most recent episode. My thoughts on it, is that it's amazing. It tells the story of the game's key moments, but ultimately alters how the characters get to those moments, which means it's a fresh take on them. The animation is probably ufotable's best, and is a good case for why CGI can work in anime. If I were to rate it, it would probably get a 4.5/5 as of right now because it's not perfect, but the fact that in can entice someone like me who has played the game it's based on twice, is saying a lot.
  7. I don't know why, but I legit was thinking AMV's when I entered this thread. You know like, the ones that used to be all over the place where people would clips from an anime, or several anime and edit them over a song. These seem to be a lot more refined than all that though. I guess I don't really have a favorite though, because I only recently got into this sort of thing, but I do like what people posted here.
  8. Not gonna lie, I rarely have a favorite song, but Movies by Alien Ant Farm has always been up there.
  9. I support it, though I've never done so with my own money, However games like the Banner Saga series, the Sequel to Psychonauts, and a host of other great indies owe their existence to successful Kickstarters and Figs. It's kinda hard for me since I enjoy a decent amount of Indies to let the few bad apples destroy the gems that have shone through crowdfunded games.
  10. Honestly, I'm pretty bad with a mouse and keyboard so I stick to consoles largely for that. I'm also not big on Multiplayer games, and consoles have a lot of single players games I prefer to play like the Tales series, Persona and a slue of other titles. I have against PC, it's just not my preference, and I never quite feel like I'm gaming unless I have a controller in my hand.
  11. For me it was Pac-man back at the arcades, My dad and I would always play to see who would get the highest score, and he'd always beat me. It was a lot of fun though.
  12. I tend to play a lot of games, so I'm actually playing a few right now, Those are, Gravity Rush 2, Resident Evil 7 and Dragon Quest 8 for the 3DS.
  13. My name as you can see, my name is RepentantSky. It's nice to meet you all. I'm a bit of an old hand at anime as I've been a fan for over 20 years. I'm not sure if there a lot of people around my age here so we may have different opinions on things. Either way, the reason I joined these forums is because I haven't been watching a lot of anime lately until about a week ago when I got into Tales of Zestiria the X, which has rekindled an old passion for anime, and I wanted a place to talk about it that seemed promising, and this forum interests me in that regard. I hope we can get along well!
  14. I think it was a solid episode honestly. The way the characters differ from the game really started showing here, especially with Alisha, and I like that about the show. It even gave Rose some interesting character development and the changes of the show are really starting to shine through, It's not just slight changes in the story anymore, it's completely adding to characters roles and stories and I can really appreciate that.
  15. I don't mind fillers. People may hate me saying it, but the fillers are what got me into most of the characters in Naruto. I don't think there was enough time to focus on them without those, and so when some of them died, it felt like it held more weight than it would have otherwise. Also, there's something to say about Bleach's first filler story, because it was done incredibly well and actually got me back into the anime. I don't think a filler has ever done that before.
  16. I always liked the dot hack anime series'. They are a bit slow but the stories they tell are amazing to me.
