Lindsey Sterling is always a high point for me, 8/10. Now you'll have to excuse my lack of patience with trying to properly code this, because often I've copied the code needed to make a video show like the rest in this thread and still had it fail so I'm not really in the mood to try this any other way if it's automatic For anyone who hasn't heard them before, welcome to Cherry Filter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omrUySShdQE Oh hey look it is, so never mind that.

I mean like, it's Link and all, how can that not be a 10/10. -
What would you do if the user^above you had a crush on you?
RepentantSky replied to FSL29's topic in Forum Games & Memes
Is it wrong that I've started looking at the chat to decide what threads to reply to? Anyways, since I'm pretty new here and don't really know anyone, I guess my answer would be kindly reject the idea, if I had any reaction at all, since you know, I don't really know anyone here. -
I guess I get to be the odd man out here and say that I find the film to be unwatchable for my tastes. For one, I don't like the body swap story line, I've yet to see anything, be it anime or otherwise that does that in a way I can enjoy, and from the beginning, there were signs of similar issues that bothered me popping up. I also don't like embarrassing scenes like the ones at the start in any form of medium, and tend to skip moments like that as much as I can, even if I miss some of the narrative and overall story because of it. Those kinds of scenes have bothered me since before I could even understand what the difference between anime and an American cartoon were, and I don't really know why, but I can never, have never, and will never enjoy them. Those two things would make the film unwatchable for me, but I can't deny that the animation is some of the best I have ever seen, and that those who worked on the film overall really found a way to mesh everything that they are good at into one amazing film. The music is also spot on throughout, even the parts I skipped, and the ending was great, and not what I expected from a film made by Makoto Shinkai-san, but honestly I think I would have preferred just a happier version of 5 Centimeters per second, which this film with those embarrassing moments is not. Had those moments been taken out, and these two simply met by chance, the ending could have played out nearly the same, giving the same satisfaction and been a film I could have enjoyed fullheartedly, and I would have happily called it the best non Ghibli film in anime that I've ever seen. As it is though, I can never watch it again despite it's brilliance because of my distaste of body swapping in story lines and my inability to enjoy, or even watch anything embarrassing like that. I do want to see all these creators work together again on a film that doesn't do anything that takes away the enjoyment I feel, because they have the potential to be the most amazing movie studio out there as long as Ghibli isn't doing things their own way and relying on places like Amazon to make new films.

I hadn't looked at this yet. I saw the credits by my name and other members name's and kind of wondered what was going on with them. I'm surprised with myself, I'm usually more detailed when exploring a new forum than that. It's a neat feature though.

Has anyone seen this short film? It's a very simple short film about a kid who goes to school with animals until a new kid joins his class. and they go on simple adventures. There's not really a whole lot to it, but the simple animation and story make for a very charming 22 minutes. If you haven't seen it, I suggest taking the time to.

Best retail shop to buy anime in your area?
RepentantSky replied to Optic's topic in Anime Discussion
It really depends. There's not a lot of shops around me as is, because where I live is pretty rural, but even the ones that do have anime are very limited. There was a time when they were great, but they don't update that often so I've managed to get pretty much everything that they sell, which isn't a lot. Most of my anime is bought online. During holidays, there's a lot more selection and certainly at a better price, but by and large, it's expensive or I already own it, or it's cheaper online etc. When they do have good stuff though, they have some of the best. -
It depends. I certainly don't have a problem with Chibi. Last year even I played two very long games with Chibi models taking the forefront, but It can also be a little overwhelming. I don't just want my anime to be cute and nothing else. I watch anime mostly for a good story, or animation or depending on the anime, good characters, if Chibi in anyway takes from that, I might find an issue with it, and I kind of doubt I'd ever watch an anime that's nothing but Chibi.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a huge fan of the original series, but just about any spin-off game that's like it, I'll play. Whether it be Berserk, Hyrule Warriors Legends, Dragon Quest Heroes, Fire Emblem Warriors, whatever. I'm okay with pretty much any game that's like the DW series.

My favorite starter, and the one I picked, was Poplio. I think it looked the best, it has just about the best duel typing of any starter ever and it's super powerful.

For me, it will always be Wartortle, because it's not just my favorite starter Pokemon, but my favorite of all Pokemon. A lot of my favorites don't come from gen 1 but Wartortle is the highlight of that generation. It's elegant because of the ears and and tail, yet still has that aggressive look about it that says it's tough. I've always looked at Wartortle as the Elegant Bad-ass.

I would like some Anime Suggestions
RepentantSky replied to RepentantSky's topic in Anime Discussion
I have literally seen all of those, but they are nice suggestions to be sure. I probably didn't do a good job of making it clear, so that's on me, but any anime that got popular on the level of most of these shows you suggested, I've either seen or decided I didn't like, such the aforementioned Re: Zero or Yuri on Ice. -
New Studio Ghibli Movie - Ronja , the Robber’s Daughter
RepentantSky replied to Wodahs's topic in Anime Discussion
The CGI characters may have been Amazon's call, but I don't like the way they move at all. It's looks fake and odd. If they'd gotten someone or even a few people to handle it from ufotable, I might be a little more on board, and I actually like Goro as a director, but there needs to be a reason to have CGI characters, and isn't one so far as I can tell. I'm weary of this for now. -
I guess sometimes. I've bought the DLC for Destiny through year one and the Left Behind DLC for the Last of Us. I won't buy random costumes or anything, but as long as the DLC is priced right and has the intent of tons of content or a good story, I might get it.

I would like some Anime Suggestions
RepentantSky replied to RepentantSky's topic in Anime Discussion
Yeah I've seen pretty much everything from Hosoda-san. As for recommendations, I'm pretty much open to anything as long as the animation is good. By that I mean that, someone once recommended I watch the anime about table top tennis and I couldn't watch it because the animation was really annoying to look at. As long as the animation is along the lines of typical animation, is probably won't bother me. -
I would like some Anime Suggestions
RepentantSky replied to RepentantSky's topic in Anime Discussion
I haven't seen Overlord or Erased, so those will be a good place to start. I have seen the rest of those. -
If any of you saw my introduction thread, you might have seen me mention that I have been an anime fan for a long time, but went on a sort of hiatus which probably means I missed some good ones. Now I had been watching a little bit here or there, like I've seen Attack On Titan, Orange, D-gray man: Hollow, I tried Re: Zero and Yuri On Ice and didn't really like them, but if anyone good suggestions for anime's, I'd love to hear them. Some of my favorite anime that I've seen are Full Metal Alchemist, Hanasaku Iroha, Orange, Shigatsu wa kimi no Uso, Myself; Yourself and Tokyo Ghoul. I'm also pretty keen on movies as well like The Place Promised In Our Early Days, everything Ghibli, Wolf Children, Haruka and the Magic Mirror and several like those. So, I mean, I've seen a lot, but obviously also missed a lot, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

What is the most mind bending anime you've ever watched?
RepentantSky replied to scarlet reaper's topic in Anime Discussion
One thing I never see a lot people talk about is Paranoia Agent. That anime is extremely odd with a lot of pace changes despite it not being that many episodes. The first few episodes are just interesting because seeing people's paranoia and self-doubt culminate to their eventual murder is really enticing and different. The whole anime could have been that and I would have been fine with it. Then however, an agent shows up who is trying to catch the murderer and it goes rather fantasy style in a modern setting for some odd reason. I mean, it all seems to be in said agent's head, as were often shifted in between what he sees and what's actually happening, but it just gets so out there. -
Should I switch from watching dubs to subs
RepentantSky replied to Luffy's topic in Anime Discussion
I have a thing with dubs vs subs that a lot of people I've talked about it over the years don't seem to like. The history of anime that's been dubbed kind of goes like this: It was at first, hardly taken seriously by anyone save a few actors, so if the dubbing of a show was borderline horrible and almost unwatchable, it didn't matter. Because of this, we grew into the mentality that subs are better because the voice actors were better. However, it seems to me like Japan caught wind of that and decided to teach all their voice actors how to do about 5 to 7 different voices, (5 for women, 7 for men. don't ask me why, but that does seem about as far as the variation of voices goes) that were popular at the time, and all anime characters are now required to sound pretty much the same, even if the setting doesn't fit the voices the actors have been taught to do. In turn, companies that dub anime caught wind of that and decided to up their game, allowing their actors to use a variety of different voices and hiring new actors often. Occasionally, you still get different voices out there in Japan like Maka from Soul Eater or Natsu from Fairy Tail, but those are few and far between. So, to answer the question, it depends on a few things, 1, if you like the anime voices that have been around for the last 20 years in Japan, watch the subs, 2, if you like good voice acting, depending on when the show came out, watch the subs, or the dubs, but pay attention to anything that came out before FMA, because there's a hit and miss period there and 3, if you want characters to not sound the same all the time and are watching a more recent anime, watch the dubs, because they are, in my opinion, superior to a lot of subs. Also, there are certain anime where the dubs are just the better option regardless of timing, like FMA, DBZ and Hellsing Ultimate, and that's true the other way around, because anime like Bleach and Naruto are pretty horrible dubbed, what with names being pronounced incorrectly and all. Then again, they are about the last anime's that had that issue. -

Last Anime I've Watched and What I think About It
RepentantSky replied to RyePotatoes's topic in Anime Discussion
The last anime I watched was Tales of Zestiria the X, from start to it's most recent episode. My thoughts on it, is that it's amazing. It tells the story of the game's key moments, but ultimately alters how the characters get to those moments, which means it's a fresh take on them. The animation is probably ufotable's best, and is a good case for why CGI can work in anime. If I were to rate it, it would probably get a 4.5/5 as of right now because it's not perfect, but the fact that in can entice someone like me who has played the game it's based on twice, is saying a lot. -
I don't know why, but I legit was thinking AMV's when I entered this thread. You know like, the ones that used to be all over the place where people would clips from an anime, or several anime and edit them over a song. These seem to be a lot more refined than all that though. I guess I don't really have a favorite though, because I only recently got into this sort of thing, but I do like what people posted here.

Not gonna lie, I rarely have a favorite song, but Movies by Alien Ant Farm has always been up there.

I support it, though I've never done so with my own money, However games like the Banner Saga series, the Sequel to Psychonauts, and a host of other great indies owe their existence to successful Kickstarters and Figs. It's kinda hard for me since I enjoy a decent amount of Indies to let the few bad apples destroy the gems that have shone through crowdfunded games.

Honestly, I'm pretty bad with a mouse and keyboard so I stick to consoles largely for that. I'm also not big on Multiplayer games, and consoles have a lot of single players games I prefer to play like the Tales series, Persona and a slue of other titles. I have against PC, it's just not my preference, and I never quite feel like I'm gaming unless I have a controller in my hand.
