What's the weather like where you are?

We've had lots of weather today. Bright warm sunshine, chilly winds, heavy rain and hail and now it's cold and I've turned my central heating on for the first time in 3 months.

Moderate warm but cold this morning. It says it's going to rain tonight and I hope so.

For my area the danger is that the fire can burn basically unchecked in the nearby national forest areas.  That area is steep terrain and plenty of trees and brush, which thanks to the recent weather is very dry and makes excellent fuel for the wildfires.  It's hard to get anything in there in the way of people or equipment to fight the fire directly too.  For the most part that area has no roads or water to speak of.  The only thing they can really do is try to direct the fire with air drops of retardant and water.  If they can get fire crews into a strategic position to cut gaps in the brush ahead of the fire that's another way to deprive the fire of fuel.  If they can manage to direct it downhill or into an already-burned area where there is no fuel then the fire will sometimes go out on its own.  Again though, given the terrain that's a hard, dangerous job, especially in extremely hot, dry weather like we've had recently

The main thing to watch out for is if the wind picks up.  If the wind happens to start blowing the fire in your direction then things can escalate quickly.  So far no wind in the forecast though.  <knock on wood>  Still, they're telling everyone who lives in or near the national forest are to be prepared to go on a moment's notice if things start to get out of hand.  Definitely something I'm monitoring closely, but so far the area that I'm in is in no immediate danger and no evacuations have been ordered yet.

I'm glad it's still pretty far away from you because I know these can escalate pretty quickly. I hate seeing anything involving fires since i know how it feels to lose everything in one  So I hope you and everyone around you stays safe and all your belongings and homes too. I'm always worried about the wildlife too though when I hear that it's burning through a lot of the forests.

78 which is pretty okay. I would still prefer it to be in the lower 70s, but overnight it's going to be low 50s at least.

It's bright and sunny and 21C, but there's a slightly chilly breeze if you're in the shadows.

It was very hot today, 90F. Tomorrow is going to be hotter and we have an air quality alert again.

It won't get back to the 70s again until next week

Same here, but it was more hot than pleasantly warm. Today was the first day of Autumn so I was hoping it would actually feel like it

Raining today here and there but not all day. Mostly it's grey outside with a lot of clouds.

We had a tornado warning earlier, that was fun. I was at school and we had to move to the basement for about 30 minutes. I don't think there was ever actually one that touched down here though but I think it was somewhere way off on the outskirts of the city. Other than that it was also thunder storming a lot here today and supposed to do even more over night. I just hope I don't wake up to the tornado siren going off at 3 am. I always hate when it's late at night and wakes you up. At that point I'd rather just sleep through it. If Imma die imma die in my comfy bed

It's cold, wet and miserable here today.

We don't get tornados here, but we do get floods and the morning news was full of reports of serious flooding in various places with roads turned into rivers and houses and shops being flooded. Thankfully my area wasn't affected as it's reasonably high ground.

Glad you weren't effected, flooding is just as bad x.x At least you are up high too so you have less to worry about.  We are right near the river so we get a lot of that too when it rains a ton. I feel like I should be more concerned about tornados but I'm so used to it
