What's the weather like where you are?

I can understand that, loud high winds always make me a bit nervous and I worry that some damage might be done to the house. I'm not really afraid of thunder but my house is in a fairly quiet road so any sudden loud noise will make me jump! I do worry a bit about lightning because a lightning strike can set fire to a house.

Anyway, it's bright and sunny outside again today and the temperature is already working it's way up towards a promised/threatened max of 28C.

I used to be terrified of thunder/lightning. I'm not so much anymore but the sound can still make me jump if I'm not expecting it like today when this building next to us got hit with lightning that Pessi was talking about in his post.

I took some videos of the storm from earlier today. The wind was soooo loud, and the rain was coming down in sheets. You couldn't really see anything and we can usually see pretty far from way up here.

Spoiler

I don't know how to upload the videos to here so I just put them on Youtube lol
As you can hear in Video 1 the wind was insane, and in video 2 the rain was sooo heavy.
It looked and sounded like we were in a hurricane lol ~

Wow! That wind sounds really insane and the rain looks seriously heavy. We had a thunderstorm yesterday evening, well, calling it a storm is an exaggeration it was a couple of feeble flickers of lightning and a very half-hearted excuse for a bit of thunder, quite a bit of rain though which was good for the garden.

There was thunder this morning again that woke me up early. I don't know what time it was because I didn't get out of bed but I think around 5 AM. When I got up there was still a lot of rain but it's cleared away now. I can still see some rain off far away and a few storm clouds here and there but it looks okay right now.

Tornado season is here so I guess that's why there are so many strong storms around this area right now with tornadic potential. Pretty much every storm that blows through has tornados and is followed by flash flooding.

The weather tonight though was pretty nice. It was in the 70s most of the day, this morning even in the 60s and it's supposed to cool off back to the 60s again tonight.

Yeah I didn't really mind the weather either today, it was hot but not humid so I didn't feel sick out in it. Which is good since I have this dog I'm watching until tomorrow and I have to take it outside 3 or 4 times for walks a day lol ~

I guess since the storms have moved out of the area it is back to being humid and hot. It was only 80 but the humidity is so bad outside that it's uncomfortable to be outside longer than 15-20 minutes.

It's still nice and sunny, but the temperature has dropped to a more pleasant 22-24C. It's also a lot cooler at night which is good because I can now catch up on the sleep I lost during the heat wave.

It's 90 today with an air quality alert, though I don't really know what that entails, I have no plans of going out in that heat to begin with.

The Mayor of London decided that the poor air quality in the capital and surrounding areas was caused by emissions from cars, so he introduced a Low Emission Zone, and then expanded it to an Ultra Low Emission Zone, which means that anyone who drives a car with a tailpipe emission above a certain figure has to pay £12.50* per day to take their car into the zone. The ULEZ even extends into the suburbs where I live, fortunately my car meets the requirement so I don't have to pay.

I was browsing the local weatherman Facebook this morning and he showed several pictures of the sun in our area with a ring around the sun because of the wildfires that are happening right now.  It said the air quality alerts today and yesterday are because of the wildfire smoke over our heads but I don't know exactly what that means for us.

It's been in the 90s today with air quality alerts here again.

I wish something could be done about all the emissions from cars and stuff but I've never really seen a good solution. Not really sure how charging people money stops it from damaging the environment xD

yeah we've had another air quality alert here from the smoke.. apparently the bonus though is that sunsets this week will be prettier and brighter because of the smoke...? Which I am totally confused by because I would have thought smoke would block out the sun and sunsets x.x

I'm not sure about that either, it seems like saying "it's OK to pollute as long as you pay the fee".  Many people regard it as yet another money making scheme.  ULEZ is, as you might imagine, not a popular scheme and the ANPR cameras that are used to enforce it are regularly vandalised, several round my way have had their lenses sprayed black or their cables cut.

This is how it sounds to me too when I read it lol. As long as you have money and can pay the fees who cares what you do! It's not really doing anything to save the environment and possibly making it harder on those who can't afford to get a new car that is better.

The weather was cooler than yesterday here but still at 87F.

It's 79 here and cloudy, but the sun has gone down so it's cooled down a lot. I was glad to here the weather will be in the 60s tonight though instead of the 70s or 80s lol

Yeah that's really not doing anything to solve the pollution problem lol ~ and like Pessi said, it sounds like it would just be another fee people working and trying to commute that may already have it hard have to pay x.x

Story of my life, I can get lost even when following my sat-nav.

Back on topic:

It's looking like being another nice day. It's a bit overcast at the moment but the weatherman says it's going to brighten up later on with a high of 24C.
