Wildfire update!

So the fire has grown to 59.5 hectares (147 acres) BUT, the growth has slowed down, the fire is still moving away from us, and it’s even moved into more accessible terrain for the ground crews to get at it and the sky visibility has been clear enough for the helicopters and bombers to start early in the morning yesterday and today. They expect it to take at least another week before they manage to get the fire out.
We’re still on evacuation alert, but I don’t think we’ll end up being evacuated as the perimeter of the fire is moving away from us. We loaded up our deep freeze and took it to a nearby relative’s house, which we’ll leave there until sometime next week just to be safe. We’re also still leaving the car mostly packed and ready to go, but we’ve started to bring a few things back into the house, just easy to grab, so that we don’t have to constantly be getting stuff in and out of the car.
As part of the structural protection measures, all of the houses in our area have been equipped with at least two sprinklers each on our roofs that spray a wide perimeter around us and make sure everything stays wet. I’ve discovered a natural knack to be standing on our front stairs when the thing turns on, getting sprayed with freezing cold water each time lmfao.

Today it’s cloudy and cooler than it has been the last few days, we’re hoping it’ll rain but there’s none in the forecast unfortunately.

I'm glad to hear the fire is moving away that's great news! I hope that things progressively get better and this is over for you soon (●´ω`●)

I'd glad to hear that the fire is moving away from you and it doesn't look like you'll be evacuated. The house sprinkler system sounds like a good idea. I hope the fire will soon be out and you'll no longer be on evacuation alert. Please look after yourselves and stay safe.

That's good I'm glad to hear this too. Stay safe and keep us still updated.

I’ll trade you a couple patches of blue sky for some of that rain, it’s a win-win!

My celebration was premature. Shortly after my latest post in this thread, not only did it start raining heavily, but the power went out. (A tree fell and landed on a power line a few miles up the road from the house.)

It's currently 74F and partly cloudy.
