First thing that comes to mind

4th of July is a pretty huge thing for most Americans. Usually you spend the day having a nice cookout with family and friends, some sports, and then in the evening you get to sit down and watch all the drunk people light fireworks and blow various parts of their hands off 🤣There is usually some pretty big firework shows the cities put on too. We are going to the one here in Louisville that is going to be on the river and I think that'll be nice.

The nearest thing we have to that would be 5th November, Guy Fawkes night, when we celebrate the failure of Mr Fawkes and his fellow conspirators to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 with King James I and parliament inside it.

In Somerset they really go to town with the celebrations with illuminated carnivals featuring carnival carts which can be nearly 100 feet long. (search YouTube for Somerset Carnivals). I used to go an see them, but you have to be there a hour before the start to get a good viewing place and the procession usually takes 2 hours to pass, and I can't stand in one place that long any more.

This sounds like it would be a really cool event to see. It makes me think of when we visited the zoo recently and they had the lights celebration with a lot of Asian styled lanterns and some were giant carts that had animal designs on them all illuminated and you could walk the zoo at night and see them all.
