I have a pre ww1 dated Scottish mess jacket (used for special occasions like balls and dinner parties) it's named to a captain James Anderson of the 7th Fife regiment. He was killed on the 23rd of August 1917 at Gallipoli farm, Ypres, Belgium. He was ordered to attack a German position and was killed attacking it. He was the only officer casualty of that day of the regiment. Ignore the the armband on the right. Not relevant The guy in the picture is the actual man himself.2 points

Aw dang, episode 5! But can we just take a moment to realize that Satoru's whole "on-the-lam" thing could've been avoided all the way back in Ep.1 if he said "Call the police!" instead of shouting "It wasn't me!" Like a madman? Sorry, just speaking realistically... I do think this anime is really great, and looking forward to Ep.6.2 points

So, I'm the type of person that likes to waste away my free time by getting new applications and finding the perfect one. Despite the fact that there really isn't a perfect application for any task, even if you write it yourself. I figured I would share my recent experience with browsers and rate them in an unbiased opinion. Also, be warned, you probably haven't heard of half these browsers. Feel free to ask any questions about any of the browsers though. Torch - Great for media users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Media downloader - Torrent app - Nice built in new tab page Cons: - Running an older version of Chrome (but is still compatible with the web store) - Media button really annoying when it bounces. - No Linux version Yandex - Great for non Google users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Free Yandex service (mail, storage, syncing, etc.) - Offers Opera turbo and can install Opera extensions Cons: - No Google account integration - Built in services can be RAM heavy Opera - Great for RAM conscious users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Lighter than most chromium browsers - Nice new tab page Cons: - Notifications are only text based and aren't useful at all - Outdated look comparable to Firefox 28 - Can't install Chrome extensions by default (can be bypassed by an extension) Chrome - Great for people with Google accounts [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Perfect Google account integration Cons: - Google tracks everything you do - Doesn't have many features in comparison to other chromium browsers Sleipnir - Great for users looking for change [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Cleaner look than most browsers - Amazing text remdering Cons: - Hard to adapt to - Minimal settings Firefox - Great for extension users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Has a lot of extensions (more than chrome, but not by too much) - Very customizable UI - Light on RAM usage compared to any chromium browser Cons: - Gecko is really an outdated engine that needs to change how they render stuff - Still on a single process (although this will change in May) Baidu - Great for media users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Built in media downloader - Torrent app Cons: - Doesn't render half of favicons it comes across including animeforums.net - Waiting notifications in the taskbar are extremely large and ugly Internet Explorer - Great for casual users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - It renders html5 faster than any of the other browsers - Very light on memory usage Cons: - Extensions, who needs those? Comodo Dragon - Great for privacy users [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Good built in privacy extensions Cons: - Just another chromium browser, not too much substance - Lags more than chrome - Running an outdated version of chrome Maxthon - Great for users who want to use Trident on some pages [FLOAT_LEFT] [/FLOAT_LEFT] Pros: - Switch between Trident and Webkit at will - Nice and clean UI that fits with Windows 8 flat metro theme Cons: - Extremely outdated version of chrome - Can't install chrome extensions - Maxthon extension store is lackluster and will probably not provide what you need.1 point

I don't know much details about this, but I heard that you can buy amazon.jp goods through a proxy. I know that a lot of people use it to buy onaholes and figuring when amazon.jp goes on sale. I don't know the details very well, and I've never used it myself. But if it's a last resort, try using a proxy to buy something off amazon. But you should read a guide on it first. I'm sure a quick google search will suffice.1 point

Really, I'm speaking from my own experience, so I don't know how it would be like for you. But I like to think my opinion on conventions are pretty logical. They are pretty bad. I've honestly never really saw much point in them after attending a couple of conventions. It's just wasting your money, unless you want exclusive stuff from your favorite artist. But if you don't use tumblr and not an artist yourself, I seriously doubt you would know any of the artist there. The exclusive posters and pins aren't really worth it, for an otherwise pretty expensive fee of entry. The figuring and such are usually way over priced and something you would easily get online. So on top of getting expensive figurings with an entry fee is really expensive fee. Figurings are just novelty items anyways, It's honestly not worth dropping 50 dollars on some crappy figure. It might be fun if you go with friends, but in all honestly, I find just chilling home watching a movie or playing game a lot more fun then convention. It's tiresome and expensive. If you have good friends who are interested in anime while being extremely fun to be around with, then conventions might be your thing. If you're going alone and looking for friends, I seriously doubt you would find anyone. I've tried, a couple of times, and aside from my socially awkward statues, I still found it a lot harder then usual. A lot of people come in groups, and just intruding one is unlikely. I don't want to advocate any stereotypes or make any assumptions, but let's face it. Most anime fans are introverted people. On top of being introverted, and being in a group isolating other peers, it's hard making "friends". It's easy to talk to people and breaking the ice, but really it doesn't get any further then that. You don't really have to, but it's pretty much ideal. There are tons of people who don't cosplay, but instead take pictures. If I were to ever attend a convention again, which I highly doubt, It would probably be for cosplaying reasons. Look for? I don't really get the question, but I assume you mean what to expect from conventions. Come with extremely low expectations. Maybe then you might enjoy conventions. Also, you should try attending some events, over just constantly staying at the shops. It's pretty boring just looking at the same things. But be warned that majority of them are pretty cringe worth. And bringing LOTS of money is important. Despite the item lack of practicality, you're going to want to buy lots of things. A bare minimum of 300 dollars excluding the fee, and trust me, if you don't bring that much you're going to end up regretting a lot of stuff. But you might end up regretting it, like I did. But hey, I don't want you to scare you from conventions, it has it's perks. It has this strange nostalgic feel to it. and I got some enjoyment from it. It's nice seeing that there are other anime fans out there, even if they majority of them are pretty new and haven't reached the 100+ title point. If you're into stuff like angel's egg and some of the more obscure anime. You won't meet much people who knows what your talking about. But if you're the type of person who likes majority of the popular anime, you'll feel at home.1 point

Hello everyone, Anime Forums has always aimed to be an friendly place to discuss anime. After all, anime is a huge piece of what our community is about! But the feedback I've been getting is that sometimes it is difficult to participate in the anime discussion threads for a number of reasons: Fear of coming across spoilers mid-thread - current episode markers are not consistently used. Using spoiler tags is frustrating as it becomes a chore and makes quoting difficult. No clear place to create specific, non-episode related anime threads for a particular title. e.g. favourite character threads. Even if they are created, they are difficult to find later as new threads are created in the General Anime section. also... [FLOAT_RIGHT][/FLOAT_RIGHT]...older shows are getting left behind We currently have ONE thread per anime title. All episode discussion goes into its dedicated thread, and we're using markers to separate episodes as each episode airs. Whilst this consolidates all episode discussion in the one thread nicely, it does present a challenge for titles that have already aired. After all, a majority of members do not watch anime titles the moment they air in Japan. Some wait a little later. Others wait until it has been localised in English and buy it on BD/DVD. And of course, I am sure everyone are discovering new anime titles to watch based on recommendations. Unfortunately the thread markers just can't accommodate anime threads that have already aired, because those markers were inserted based on the airing date - and of course everyone won't be on the same page/episode to discuss within the thread. Upcoming changes To accommodate these concerns, I am investigating a way to have separate sub-forums for each anime title. Each subforum (anime title) will allow episode specific discussions, and anime title specific discussions. This is a big change, especially for the forum database. But I do feel it's the right way moving forward. Do I need to do anything? No, for the current airing titles just continue using these threads as normal. When the new system is complete, all episode discussion will be moved into new dedicated episode threads. Thanks for your support. If you have any comments or feedback regarding this please let me know below.1 point
