  1. Anyone have tips on making time to binge watch shows? It's always tempting, but with time and stuff it never seems entirely possible ... I might be crazy but when I do binge shows, I actually prefer watching with ads on. It's sometimes annoying, of course, but I feel like ads just let you be a human now and then. Like, if you ate something while watching, it gives you a chance to clean up and not have to think about it later. And that lets you get up and walk around a little. You can use the bathroom when the OP starts if you've seen it already, and the ads will be done by the time you come back (unless you pee at lightning speed). If having a mess around you or not moving doesn't bother you, I guess it doesn't matter much, but I like having the chance to take care of details like that, and it gives me some time to chew on what I just watched, too :3 Obviously you still CAN do those things without ads, but there's much less motivation to do so.
  2. Hello! I'm new to Anime Forums but welcome anyways ^o^
  3. Uh, for Gintama, I don't quite get why Gintoki and Hasegawa are on the same level of suffering. At least Gin has somewhere to sleep :3 Also gonna disagree with Switch's (65% deserve, 50% suffering) placement. I mean, he kinda accidentally caused his suffering but 65% seems overkill to me. And he regrets it so much too D;
  4. I think it'd be cool for people to be able to stumble on anime and see that you CAN have good animation that's not explicitly catered to kids but also isn't just pornography. Western animation has, of course, some awesome shows, but almost all of them are aimed for kids and are funny/cool to adults as a sort of bonus.
  5. Welcome! I'm new here too, and I felt a little anxious even though I'm not totally new to forums. It can feel weird, like you're barging into an established group of friends, when that's not really how it is :3 It seems like a nice place here so I wouldn't feel toooooo anxious Your avatar is great by the way I don't know the character, but I like cowlicks ;D
  6. Oh! This is great, having a whole index of heterochromic characters It's too bad a lot of them in these pictures have one eye covered though ;3 I like heterochromia but the only character I really knew before this is Asbel Lhant from Tales of Graces. latest?cb=20140119144208&path-prefix=protagonist
  7. A phone case! Too many close shaves almost dropping my phone on hard surfaces
  8. I respect dubbing a lot, because I feel like good dub is a science and art form in itself. With Japanese <--> English I feel like it's even harder because of the reversed syntax, and with how (I don't know Japanese but this is the impression I get?) Japanese seems to take more syllables than English to state a similar thought. So if a good dub is really good, I applaud it. But as much as I respect dub, it's still just hard to listen to sometimes if the language sounds unnatural
  9. No one's posted Yagyu Kyubei yet, so Kyubei I like Lavi a lot too, though I haven't finished D-Gray Man yet :3
  10. I stopped watching Durarara also for basically the same reasons ... nothing wrong with the show; it still interests me but I'm just distracted by other life and other anime shows ^^"
  11. Lol same, Gintama seems to walk a fine line between "this is comedy gold" and "someone was on something when they wrote this" Thank you! Thank you! And yeah, that's a good point. I just sometimes dislike the feeling of needing to commit that much more time to watching a completed anime, whereas watching a show as it airs can't really take up more time than an episode or two a week ... unless you're spending time fangirling all over the Internet, which happens too
  12. I'm sorry to hear that ... hope a little sunshine comes your way soon. Hope you have someone to talk to. As for how I'm feeling ... I really feel like sticking a spoonful of peanut butter in my mouth o_o Does that count as a feeling?
  13. Yikes, that stinks. You can find strawberry or vanilla-flavored Pocky and Hello Panda (matcha Pocky is pretty bomb too). I really like Yan Yans, too (http://www.meijiamerica.com/products/yan-yan.html) Though I always try to conserve the cream and then I run out of biscuit. Dagnabit, this thread makes me hungry. >:c
  14. Hello! I've been lurking on this forum every now and then and I have to say, so far I really like the kinds of discussions and community you guys have here. You all seem really nice ^^ Hmm, favorite animes at the moment ... Still struggling to catch up on Gintama in time for the new arc (and laughing every second of the struggle ). Haikyuu is probably up there because who doesn't love emotionally adopting 50 volleyball children in one show? and the moment I feel slightly sad, I immediately want to watch Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun to feel better :3 I'm used to watching completed animes, so I'm trying to learn how to watch anime as it comes out in season, so that'll be interesting this fall ;D So, hope to get to know you guys and have some fun discussions here
  15. I just saw it a few days ago. I'm not familiar with the original manga/anime, so I don't have anything to compare it off of, but it was better than I expected. Most of my expectations were colored by other people's disappointed opinions though, so I'm not sure how much that says ^^ It sounds like it may not have been as deep as the original, but like TAT said higher up, I found it more interesting and thought-provoking than a standard modern Western action film. I thought the casting was fine, though Scarlett's voice bothered me a little too with how flat it was. I'm curious what the original creators thought about the whole racial controversy thing ... on the one hand, you want to honor that the original comes from Japan, and on the other hand, my limited anime experience also seems to indicate that the entertainment industry isn't as pressured about representation as American entertainment is. It WAS a little odd seeing non-Japanese actors with such Japanese names, but I mean, we've all seen plenty of anime characters that are the same way also. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm sure a Japanese cast would've done just as well or better, but I guess it depends on who wants those moneez.
