New seasonal anime. What are you watching in the spring?
Wickett replied to Bulletje76's topic in Anime Discussion
From what I understand the manga was cancelled, but I've also read that it began as a light novel that was adapted into a manga and anime, so I'm not sure if the source material is still current. -
New seasonal anime. What are you watching in the spring?

Kaiju No. 8 is, in my opinion, Shonen done pretty much perfectly. Great action, great animation, enough mystery to give the plot real potential, humor, and friendships without being overly awkward and cringy. Every single episode has had something in it that just sucked you in and heading into the season finale this weekend I'm bittersweetly excited to see how they conclude it. Another anime I started recently and am a few episodes away from finishing now is 86. A nice story so far. -
How often do you go to the Cinema? Two or three times a year. Not as often as I'd like, honestly. The movie industry as a whole is a little sad to me. I'd rather pay higher ticket prices than for theaters to go under, but it's still a simple fact that I can't afford to go often when that money could be way better spent on other things. When the money is there, there aren't many movies anymore that I'm that interested in. Also, the most recent and one of the most notable issues that have kept me from the cinemas are the showtimes. I don't understand how by the second and definitely third weekend the showtimes on weekend nights of all things are so poorly spaced out. It's either right in the middle of my usual dinner time or have me out later than I want to be by the time it's over. Typical pricing to see a movie? If you pay at the theater it's approximately $12 a ticket, but if you pay on the app it's approximately $14 a ticket after tax and convenience fee (what a joke). Do you usually buy food and drink from the Candy Bar? Absolutely not. Again, I want theaters to stay alive and thrive, but the upcharge on the refreshments is so egregious I simply refuse. I also don't really eat a lot of sweets anyway so if there is an occasional splurge it's going to be a small popcorn and I'm going to endure financial regret the entire time I'm eating it. Ever experienced a disruption? (e.g. fire alarm, technical fault) Nothing too serious. No emergencies, but I have had issues a couple of times with low sound or crackly bass. The most notable instance I can recall at the moment would have been a disturbance caused by a bunch of noisy teenagers during Godzilla: Minus One. I am not the type of person that wants to put myself front and center and complain about things, but after several very loud outbursts of laughing (not related to what was happening on screen), loudly spoken and clear to understand sexual slurs and other foul language, I reported them to the front desk. It was actually handled very promptly, thankfully. There was no sense in everyone in that room missing out on what was an outstanding movie like Minus One because of such behavior. Your most favourite movie at the Cinema? Really not sure. Psycho-Pass Providence, is high on the list because I love the series and it was my one and only anime movie in theaters. Also can't neglect to mention the Star Wars prequels with my father as a child, Pirates of the Carribean movies as they came out, John Wick 3 and 4, probably even John Carter of Mars, which I regard as an underrated movie. They can't, and that's the real shame here. In order to pay their employees and keep the whole operation running they have to have a bit of overhead like everyone else, but this of course trickles down to the customer who weighs the whole idea of seeing a movie on the value scale and ends up buying clothes, a game that can played over and over, or wait to buy/rent it later.

I read this as well, and for some reason I too don't really have an interest in reading the manga. So much of the show is action and sound so I'm going to try and wait it out.

Enjoyed this series more than I expected when I first saw it and appreciated that the seasons were 24 episodes each. Supposedly season 3 was confirmed back in 2022 but it's been completely quiet since. Also shook things up a bit that Funimation shut down, so I'm wondering if we'll see this come around any time soon. Does anyone here happen to know any more than that, or perhaps am I the only one here who even likes the anime?

I hope this is the right area to post this, as it was originally a manga made into a live action series on Netflix, which is what I watched. I took some time watching this show and greatly enjoyed it, but honestly had low expectations for the ending. I finished it this morning finally and was completely taken by surprise just how much I liked it and how well written it was. Wanted to see if anyone on here had already seen it, or had no interest in seeing it, before talking much about it in case of spoilers.

Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens to people all of the time, all over the globe, but it was nice to see a wholesome group of gamers show this much support in such a short amount of time.

Honestly, I don't ever see myself buying this game. Right at 310GBs to install not including the assured patches and multiple DLCs. The campaigns are generally short, confusing for people who aren't savvy on the lore, and the multiplayer gets sweatier all the time. Zombies used to be fun until they became so convoluted and easter egg happy that I just started feeling overwhelmed. I also read that there will be no input-based matchmaking, which is a nice feature to have and not something I believe a AAA shooter should be lacking. When the developers are as excited as they are over something like this, I think it's worth waiting to see if the game actually delivers first, and then buy the game. Preordering has been a way for a long time now for developers to make money off a good trailer, and not the actual content that the customer continues to pay a lot of money for every single year.

Old post I know, but highly relatable. Chillwave and Lofi are excellent to think and relax to.

If you were sucked into your favorite anime...
Wickett replied to Clayton's topic in Anime Discussion
This is a good question, and instead of responding to this yesterday I wanted to give it a little thought at the risk of overthinking it, but I felt like the simplified ultimate conclusion of this was interesting. None of the anime I love I would do well living in, and I'm assuming that the struggle against the evil/danger is what draws me to the stories and the characters. I would pick Psycho-Pass most likely, and given the way the Sibyl System functions there is no way that I would be considered an ideal citizen, willing to conform to anything at any time. I, by nature, would question everything and have no trust in what the system would be telling me as an every day citizen. Meaning that as soon as I was put into solitary confinement and reeducated I would need to be deemed worthy of being an Enforcer. A "hunting dog" of the police force with no rights outside of my job, but I think I would enjoy the work and the environment enough to justify it as a way of life, and free thinking to investigate crimes wouldn't be as much of a hinderance to me in how I'm seen by the system (or government). If I was pulled into such a world I would know that I would need to make myself as appealing as possible to be considerate a good candidate for such a role. I believe I would survive longer than some, but would die to something stupid and random. This was all from the perspective of being a new character in the world, not an existing one. -
I agree with this very much. I'm not sure how you would even name an anime of its kind without giving away anything about the story as a whole, but also titling an anime that to the general public is strange looking humanoid creatures bouncing around.

I've been going back and forth between Helldivers 2 and XDefiant. One of the daily challenges today was to win 2 games, which of course, took 3 hours. I don't know if anyone else on here plays XDefiant, but it's been a very fun game especially considering it's free with in game purchases. One gripe I have with it though, is that with the exception of one game mode, players are not awarded enough points for playing the objective. Killstreaks are great, but I like it when games put emphasis on a team objective.

For the last few weeks, I've had the itch to join a forum as a casual past time. Initially I looked for gaming forums, but my have things changed. Simply for context, I used to work for a company that owned a network of forums approximately 10 years ago. Back then you could find a forum for literally anything you wanted, but now forums have taken a back seat to social media and hubs like Twitch and Discord it seems. I realized in recent searches, however, that anime has maintained a stronger forum presence, which is how I found this place. Looking forward to meeting you all.
