  1. Not to suck up or anything, but have I ever told you what a great writer you are? lol I mean, just look at your post. Throw some random questions and you spin them into some of the most witty and engaging answers anyone would ever read. "Drank it, so it's empty." lol Classic.
  2. Depends. Steins;Gate anime or Steins;Gate visual novel? Because there are two different studios who worked on each of those (and by extension, presumably, two different sets of staff); White Fox for anime, Nitro+ (yes, the Nitro+) for the visual novel. White Fox does some good stuff and did a top-notch job with the S;G anime, but they're not nearly as perfect as their fans would like to think (similar to Madhouse and their fanboys, but much more overrated). As far as the famous Nitro+ is concerned, however, I would love to meet them. But since it's a visual novel company, not an anime studio (which I would feel more comfortable working in), I don't really see much that I can do with them aside from getting an autograph, shower some praises on their impressive record, get some writing advice, etc. I don't really a lot of experience on writing visual novels or developing one, so meeting them would only put me in the position of an average fanboy. On the other hand, with White Fox, as I might have suggested, they're not really one of my favorite anime studios. They've merely adapted Steins;Gate, not created it. Yes, they did a pish-posh job, but they also adapted Akame ga Kill poorly, so there's that. My favorite studio is Madhouse anyway. Yes, I'm one of those aforementioned Madhouse fanboys.
  3. I haven't seen Kiki, so I don't really have any attachment to make an opinion, but I do find such advertisements incredibly annoying as well. I remember when Detective Conan was promoting Wooo televisions. It was such a blatant advertisement without much of entertainment value. Very lazy. This Kiki advertisement does look well-animated, I guess, but it also feels like a generic high school romance (a storyline that's featured in like 80% of Japanese ads), something which I suppose the original Kiki wasn't. Boy, I could imagine being ticked off if I've seen the movie. It almost feels like Kiki is selling out in a way.
  4. Nope. Sounds like the perfect reaction. I would too if I ever made it to the Big 50. RANDOM QUESTION TIME! LOL Which of the four seasons do you love and hate most? List someone you know and describe them in five words. Do you believe honesty is the best policy? Glass half full or half empty? Or is the glass just malformed?
  5. No, no! That's a common misconception, that dancing requires some type of training. The activity of dancing is just letting your body flow to the music! Or in this case, the rhythm of the rain!
  6. Oh, in that case... then friendship is truly magic. I mean, have you seen half of shounen anime? Friendship can fix anything. The Americans were right. lol Okay, you're really asking the wrong person here. Aside from the fact that I don't read much, I also don't know any of the Golden Age writers aside from Agatha Christie, and I most certainly haven't even read any of her works. I want to say Doyle, but he's not really Golden Age, but a bit earlier. Sorry. Well, to be frank, yeah, I probably would have left if things had been left the way it did. But the community proved to be friendly enough, including the person whom I argued with, so all's well ends well. Things kinda just fixed themselves in the end. Wow. That is random. Then again, I'm one to talk, considering all the random questions I've spammed. lol Favorite flavor of ice cream: Chocolate. Chocolate is love. Tastes sweet, but not too sweet like durian and honey. Cake: Yes, I like, but not too much. Cake has a dryer taste that, when consumed too much, leaves my mouth all dried up (if that makes any sense...). Unless it's a cake with chocolate cream maybe since the cream keeps the cake moist, but I would still prefer ice-cream over cake any day. Sprinkles: Moderate amount. Not too much. I don't mind sprinkles, but too much is too sweet. I don't like desserts that are too sweet. And besides, they kinda take away from the chocolatey taste of my ice-cream... Favorite time of year: Christmas. There's just an atmosphere of jolliness in the air. And as much as I'm sick of carols, they do lift one's spirits up, not to mention being just plain catchy tunes in my head. It's a nice holiday with a nice feeling. The movie, It's A Wonderful Life ironically sums up why Christmas is such a feel-good holiday. Where would I go: Gah, this question. It never has an interesting answer coming from me. lol It's Japan, the home of anime! Like I told Brycec. Tokyo if you want to get specific. Maybe Disneyland too, since I've always wanted to visit there since I was a kid. Maybe Hollywood, so that I could meet all kinds of celebrities!
  7. Actually, I felt more like I had blended into oblivion when I tried writing in my blog. It didn't receive a lot of attention, and I didn't know whom I was writing for. It felt really empty, like there was no purpose to it. I might as well have been talking to a wall about my opinions. I did put a link to my blog in my sig back then, but people simply didn't like clicking away to an external site. I was just not receiving any traffic. It's that kind of thing that discouraged me from writing Blogger. I would rather write on a platform that I know people will read.
  8. Well, it really depends on whether if he's as, uh, amicable, as his ancestor. I mean, I'm a guy, so even if he possessed the same psychotic nature, he probably wouldn't want much out of my guts and innards. Not much ripping to be done there. That said, I'll keep my distance first, make sure to keep a weapon close and ensure my own survival. It's hardly the 19th Century anymore, after all. Even if he is to kill me, he won't get away as easily, and if he's truly a descendant of Ripper, then he should be intelligent enough to know that. I certainly wouldn't ask him to stay for tea, that's for sure. I won't turn him in or expose his ancestor's crimes either, as that might provoke him. It might be selfish, but I would really rather not have anything to do with someone as potentially dangerous as him. Gaining fame from exposing the Ripper just isn't worth being gutted like a pig. *shrugs* I don't know. Does that mean we aren't friends? :'( Interesting question, considering you were involved in one of such overreaction not too recently. Still, I wouldn't say that was the most intense feeling of hatred I ever had; there certainly were far more intense ones in my lifelong career of overreactions. lol But really, jokes aside, I really did have a lot of past experiences in overreactions and paranoia towards many of my best friends, now ex-best friends. Those were some of the most intense overreactions I had. A lot of them had to do with my own need for companionship. I was needy, and I was unhappy that they couldn't offer me enough of that friendship I needed. I had a very unrealistic view of what friendship should be like, partly due to the influence of television. So I drove them away in a fit of anger. I do still look back with regret sometimes, but I've moved on for the most part. It's tiring looking back at those memories, pointless too. All we can hope to do is try to act better next time, one step at a time... even if it's just baby steps.
  9. Haha, you give me too much credit. But I'm glad you like my writing. To be honest, after learning that your favorite critic was Ebert, I was like, "Ah, maybe I should write more like him, talking about each movie's place in history." lol But I kinda just ended up doing my own thing again, writing in my own style, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since I like to keep my reviews sincere and honest, even if my opinions can be sometimes... controversial. And to tell you the truth, I feel I haven't really found a distinct writing style of mine to stick to. I just... go with the flow and write the first thing that comes to mind about the movie. Sometimes I write about the story themes, sometimes I write about its troubled production, and sometimes I just complain about all its faults and annoyances. It shifts constantly ever since I've written my first movie review. Yeah, you're right. But it's not really just convenience though. It's also a number of other mixed reasons. I want to contribute something that only I could provide, something that's uniquely me that I could dedicate to the community. I also want to write it here because it feels more personal that way, like I'm writing for AF, not for Blogger. I guess you can say I'm just being sentimental about this. My favorite comedy ever. I get tons of laughs everytime I watched this. Yeah, it's a really underrated gem. One of Nolan's finest works that gets buried under The Dark Knight and, for some reason, Inception. I love it when movies portray the illusion of magic, because when you think about it, movies are a form of optical illusion that can sometimes play tricks on your eyes. Magic and movies have such a close relationship that it's often fascinating when a movie delves into the art of illusion. But I'll save that analysis for when the time comes.

  12. Ostentatiously accuse my father of being the suspect. Act just guilty enough that I wouldn't be suspected. Think about it: usually, the culprit is the one acting the most innocent. This is true in at least 7 out of 10 cases. The one who's so blatantly the culprit is usually the one who's innocent or falsely accused. True, I might just be unlucky enough to end up as one of those special 3 cases where the obvious suspect is found out to be the actual culprit, but I just have a nagging feeling that if I keep a low profile and act more subtly, it would attract the attention of the detective of the day even more than if I didn't, especially if said detective's donning one of those deerstalkers. lol Or, it could end up as one of those really hilarious cases where me trying to outsmart the detective in spite of such flimsy evidence ironically led the detective onto my trail instead... In which case, at least I would provide some entertainment for the audience. Again, at least I would go out with the audience laughing.
  13. Random question: are you wearing socks right now?
  14. I don't know. I feel like Holmes would be suspicious of that brainwashed person's behavior if he digs a little into his background and sees that his personality before and after brainwashing doesn't check out. Speaking of writing the perfect murder in detective fiction, what do you think of Ronald Knox's "Ten Commandments"?

    Upcoming Movies

Disney jumped the gun. They announced a string of spin-offs and sequels even before The Force Awakens was released. They're in a rush to cash in on the new trilogy before they've put in the effort to build it up properly like Marvel did with their MCU. Everyone's out to imitate Marvel's formula, and Disney's Star Wars department isn't any better at it. Ironic, considering Marvel is part of Disney now.

  21. Probably quite bored, because most of my hated movies are only my hated ones because they're so predictable and cliched, rehashing the same ol' generic plot-lines. I would see everything that's coming and easily avoid all the dangers. Generally, I would be annoyed and ticked off that of all the movies I had to end up in something like Jurassic World. Ugh. I think I might give myself an early death just to escape from the movie. Maybe say some stupid one-liner like a comic relief. At least I would go out with the audience laughing.

  24. Japan, of course, but that's such a typical and boring answer for an anime forum. lol It has such unique cities and culture that it would be lots of fun to visit it one day.
