Thanks but i've watched at all expecting school rumble. Okey let me try this. Btw, konosuba and asobi asobase are the best for me, haha.

Closest thing I’d seen to Asobi Asobase is an older obscure series called Girls High  https://myanimelist.net/anime/863/Joshikousei__Girls_High It’s not as random, but is similar in that it’s a SoL series where the girls behavior is decisively uncute 😂

For something similar to Konosuba there’s Kemono Michi by the same writer & Cautious Hero.

Some other possibilities: Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, Gokudo, Hinamatsuri, Chio’s School Road & Desert Punk.

  2. I get the feeling that Hawks’ heart is in the right place, but for whatever reason, instead of being direct about it, he feels the need to act like a smartass & push people’s buttons.
Endeavor’s road to redemption won’t (and shouldn’t) be easy. In addition to the emotional & psychological abuse he put his family through, if memory serves there was a comment about him putting his wife in the hospital. The preview for the final ep of the season looks like we’ll see Todoroki’s sister too.

It’s pretty clear that it will end setting up Heroes Rising since the movie opens with Endeavor raiding a League of Villains convoy & Hawks plays a minor role towards the end. Any MHA fans should see it when you get a chance, because it’s awesome.

  3. School Rumble is one of my all time favorite comedy SoL series. Kaguya-sama: Love is War & Science Fell in Love, so I Tried to Prove It fall into the romcom category. Konosuba & Rune Soldier are fantasy parodies.  Asobi Asobase made me laugh so hard I had to keep pausing it to catch my breath, though it’s style isn’t for everyone (pretty much the antithesis of CGDCT.  Finally Isekai Quartet is pretty good but you need to be familiar with the original series to really appreciate it.

@Ohiotaku *giggles* Somali is just precious to me but she's so full of energy I can see how that could be a bit much to deal with.

When it comes to rambunctious kids, I’m kinda like Bakugo spacer.png

Kisa from Fruits Basket or Lutz from Ascendence of a Bookworm are the type of child character I’m more tolerant of (can’t really call Main/Myne a child since she has the mind/soul of a college student, though her enthusiasm & love of books can make her act childishly :P )

    Somali and the Forest Spirit

I personally found it very disappointing. It wants to play around with serious topics without actually addressing them. And the non-ending didn’t give the impression that the characters had really grown at all. Even Golem

didn’t grow do much as simply acknowledge what was already obviously true from the beginning

I’ll still give it a 6/10 because I liked it’s visual style  & I realize a lot of my dislike is due to my personal biases/peeves. Most notably Somali is actually the type of child characters who annoys the hell out of me.

  6. To my surprise the first ep of the special OVA story is already available on CR. As a bridge between seasons 1 & 2 it focuses on Rumuru on a training mission/competition leading Shizu’s students. This is a welcome addition as I felt that those characters weren’t expanded on enough. The 1st episode was really entertaining, unfortunately the 2nd isn’t scheduled until July.

  7. Just finished the last episode. No real surprise what Maple’s trump card would be

so much fun watching her rampage in her demon form. Yet when it’s all over, she invites the rival guilds over for a party

     🤣

Overall the series has a very positive & upbeat message, as Maple pretty much ignores the traditional strategies and just does whatever seems fun/cool to that derpy little head of hers & more often than not it works out. And while she’s an absolute beast in competitions, she just wants to be friends with everybody. Having said that, not entirely sure how I feel about the announcement of a second season. As fun as it was, there’s not a lot of substance or overall story to it. So not sure where they’ll go from here. But as the game developers finally accept, there’s no way to predict what Maple will do next. (7/10)

  8. My top picks from 2019 were Vinland Saga, Kimetsu no Yaiba & Dororo (all highly recommended). For 2018 it was A Place Further Than the Universe & Yuru Camp, though if your interest is primarily in shonen, probably not what you’re looking for. A shonen from a couple years back I feel was overlooked was Ushio & Tora. The early episodes can feel kinda like monster-of-the-week, but later in the story they feel more relevant to the big picture. I’d also recommend Mob Psycho 100 & Attack on Titan has been getting interesting now that the finale is just around the corner.

  9. Lots more Rimuru ahead. Season 2 will be split in half, part 1 airing October - December 2020 & part 2 April - July 2021.  Inbetween, a spinoff/parody series will air

    https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2020/03/21-1/its-storytime-with-rimuru-as-the-slime-diaries-gets-tv-anime-adaptation-in-january-2021

And there’s also a 3 part OAV story about the time he spent with Shizu’s students. Will most likely be on Crunchyroll, but timing TBD.

  10. The new version will be complete if nothing else which wasn’t true of the original anime.  As far as “better”, the original honestly didn’t make much of an impression on me.  We had pretty active discussions here and I don’t remember anyone who was a fan of the manga having any criticism, so I would say most people consider it an improvement.

I believe season 2 is scheduled to begin April 6.

  11. Eri’s reaction is definitely a high point, not just of the arc, but the season. And Mirio & Midoriya tearing up (couldn’t ask for a better pair of “big brothers”).
I wish the actual animation of Class 1A’s performance had been better, but at least they didn’t resort to the wonky looking CGI a lot of idol series use :P I did like the bit about Jiro’s background. That her love of music has a connection to her parents & she actually had conflicted feelings about becoming a hero vs a performer. But it’s not necessarily an either/or situation.

Still mixed feelings about Gentle & La Brava. Can’t help but wonder if it wouldn’t have worked better to keep them strictly comedic characters. While giving them a chance to reform has potential, the more seriously they try to portray them, the more the awkward aspects of their relationship stand out.

I thought they would devote the last 2 episodes of the season to a mini arc on the titan-esque villain we saw earlier, but looks like the emphasis next week will be on adult heroes like Endeavor & Hawk (who played a minor role in Heroes Rising).

  12. Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here 😁

As a fan of Demon Slayer, you might like a series called Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Likewise since you enjoyed the original FLCL, I would recommend Darling in the Franxx & Planet With.
