    MAL lists it as a sequel to Season 3 which aired in 2022. Maybe changing  the title to mark a major turning point in Myne’s story. (actually a spoiler for how season 3 ended for anyone who hasn’t already seen it). Also, WIT Studios are taking over the series production which has a reputation for quality  adaptions.

    Looks like it debuts May 1st. Hopefully at a theater reasonably close.

    Not sure, I only keep Prime Video active intermittently, though it looks like Amazon is getting more invested in anime again. I just re-activated to finish The Darwin Incident & will try to find time to check out the Old Country Bumpkin isekai 1st season while I’m at it since it’s apparently getting a sequel later this year

    Definitely planning to watch Ascendence of a Bookworm & Re:ZERO, but planning to watch episodes in batches instead of weekly. I’m not sure about Slime, the size of the cast & number of unresolved  subplots has become increasingly difficult to keep track of lately.  I’m actually looking forward to the latest movie’s US theatrical release (not sure when exactly, but I assume this year). It supposed to be largely stand alone with Gobta getting a chance to play hero for a girl he develops a crush on 😁

    Witch Hat Atelier is the new series I’m most curious about. The sequels I’m most hyped for are Dorohedoro 2 & Iruma-kun 4. And I always find a number of titles that catch my interest besides.

    I wasn’t planning on watching the 2nd season of MHA Vigilantes since the first season was pretty meh & the main series is over (except for a couple upcoming  epilogue episodes). But heard there was an arc focusing on Eraser Head & Present Mic as students, so decided to give it a try. Haven’t even reached that part yet, but already a significant enough improvement that I’m likely to finish it.

    I first became aware of Azumanga Daioh via ADV Films dvd release of the series starting in 2003. I credit it as my very first slice-of-life anime & one of my all time favorite anime. I have all six volumes/discs & recently purchased the reissued bluray collection from Sentai Film Works.

    It’s anime hair, the laws of physics don’t apply (pretty low-key by comparison to a lot of others 😂)

    When I’m out grocery shopping or running other errands, I‘ve been noticing an increasing number of cars with anime window decals, bumper stickers or other accessories (like a jeep I saw with a Bakugo spare tire cover on the back)

    I remember a time when most anime on American tv could be broadly categorized as science fiction, though divided into various other subgenres: Space Opera (Star Blazers), Giant and/or Combining Robots (Tranzor Z, Voltron), Alien Invasion (Battle of the Planets), Mecha (Robotech).

    I remember a time when many isekai protagonists were female (and I don’t mean the Villainess archetype). Examples: Magic Knight Rayearth, Fushigi Yuugi & Vision of Escaflowne.

    I remember a time when you only got 2 or 3 episodes of anime on a VHS tape, it cost $20-$35 & you had to wait a minimum of 2 months for the next tape. Now people complain if an episode isn’t available 2 hours after it was broadcast in Japan and around $10/month for all you can watch is too expensive.

    A more recent trend, more anime are choosing to adapt arcs via movies instead of new seasons. And even when there is a new season, there’s an early theatrical release of the first couple episodes. And an increasing number of these movies get American releases. And not just popular shonen. For example, a couple years ago I saw the 2nd & 3rd Rascal Does Not Dream movies (sequels to Bunnygirl-senpai) at a cinema & I’m seeing Uma Musume: Beginning of a New Era at the movies this weekend. And I’m not living somewhere trendy like California or New York (SW OH 😂)

    Yes, there are way too many cut & paste isekai, OP MC & harem building series being made, but you also have series like the currently airing Journal With Witch (that I mentioned in the What Are You Watching topic) that I doubt would have been made in the past.

    Currently following this. Deals with the struggles of being a neurodivergent adult while trying to provide a home for her teenaged niece after the death of her estranged sister & her husband. Can only watch 1 episode at a time because it’s pretty heavy subject matter. And yeah, definitely a misleading title translation, there’s no supernatural, fantasy or mystic aspect to it at all.

    Tojima Wants to be a Kamen Rider has a similar mix of comedy & action as Gintama. Would also recommend Shangri La Frontier. A couple older ones I enjoyed but don’t hear much about are Ushio & Tora and Busou Renkin.
