Thank you, I’ve added your pick to the poll.

My true aim is to have a vote on our members favorites, so my list is just a starting guideline.

Well, I'm glad to have contributed. By the way, it's not the second season of the show, so it should just be "The Quintessential Quintuplets".

I wonder what will turn out to be #1. :nerd:

  2. Unfortunately, I haven't seen The Rising of the Shield Hero's anime because I have read the manga a while ago. I remember really liking it, but my memory of the more recent arcs is a little bit hazy. My opinion on most of these anime are similar, like Mob Psycho 100 II and Love is War. The only anime I've been keeping up consistently with are One Punch Man Season II and Isekai Quartet, but I wouldn't consider them to be the "best" anime.

I've started Kimetsu no Yaiba, (Demon Slayer) and while I did like the animation, I'm not too sold on the characters yet. Maybe I'll pick it back up after watching other stuff.

My personal pick would be Go-Toubun no Hanayome. (The Quintessential Quintuplets) The harem tag might turn people away from this show, but I did enjoy the manga and I am still regularly keeping up with it. The characters are really enjoyable, and the particular focus and direction the story went appealed to me.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to give a detailed response, @Banri.

I've done some browsing around the anime community, looking at channels like Gigguk, Mother's Basement, Digibro, Kurosai, etc. Currently my main channel is closest to a channel like Kurosai's, but I'm hoping to eventually head in the direction of Gigguk and Mother's Basement. (Of course, with my own flair to it like you have said.)

I didn't know that YouTube favored consistency and engagement like that. I was already planning on doing my best to upload weekly, but hearing it in direct terms like this will hopefully motivate me a bit more. As for engagement, I hadn't even considered it. I'll try my best in that regard. Using other people's requests for my channel is another great idea I hadn't considered.

    Thanks again, @Banri.

  4. Actually, naps are amazing. I can't help but feel a crash throughout the day, and a nap can really pick me up for the rest of the day. I just have to be careful to not let them go on for too long.

According to ScienceDaily, kids who nap are significantly happier, smarter, and nicer. I think the human body was designed to nap. It just seems weird to just sleep for 8 hours, then expect everyone to be fully awake for the next 16 hours without a break. Some people just need to recharge, even if its just for 20 minutes.

In fact, I'll take a nap right now.

  5. I've always thought there were things I should do in my lifetime.

    • Make a YouTube channel
    • Write a book
    • Have my writing be adapted
    • Have a community
    • Visit my home country
    • Graduate college
    • Live a steady life

I've made my YouTube channel. Hopefully it only grows from here, but it's hard to come up with an idea and put in clear terms how to make it into a video.

As for writing, I just think it'd be nice to have my work become something special to others. Series like My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness are really special to me, and it'd be nice to know that my works would be something special to somebody else. An adaptation is just a side goal of that, but it'd be nice to see it re-imagined from another viewpoint, since I don't think I could perfectly write a story on the first try.

Visiting my home country is harder than you'd think. The political climate has changed the landscape, either for better or for worse. I know it'd be hard on my parents to visit, but I don't think I should go without them.

Living a steady life might seem like an odd goal, but my life has seemed fickle, especially in the teenage years. I don't think I particularly had a rough upbringing, but my mental state was... uneven. I'd like to hope that I'm heading towards easier times, and graduating college should be a step in the right direction.

  6. Seems like Seshi has the beach on her mind today. 🤣 Funnily enough, Isekai Quartet just had their beach episode, but I'll be submitting this image from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.

    Related image

I think the characters from Dragon Maid are adorable, especially when they're fumbling around with human activities that they're not familiar with.

Rezero seems to be the weakest since the only thing I really get is Subaru is treated as a loser.

Haha yeah, Subaru really is a big loser. I still love the guy, though.

I’d love to watch this, just have to watch the source material first or it won’t be as funny

Honestly, my interpretation of the series is the other way around. I think Isekai Quartet is meant to be watched by people who haven't seen all four in order to spark interest. I just happened to have watched all four of them already, so I picked it up. Even if you haven't seen any of them, Isekai Quartet might lead people to think:

"Huh, that's pretty interesting. I wanna see more of that."

At least, that's how I see it. Though, it does a pretty bad job of selling Re:Zero and Youjo Senki, and I can see how keeping track of all of these names would probably be a headache for a newcomer.

I didn’t realize there were so many isekai anime that there could already be a parody anime about 4 of them.

Fun fact: all four of these shows are associated with Kadokawa, and all four authors of the source materials are friends with each other. It probably makes things easier to collaborate when you're already friends with each other and enjoy each other's work. They even watch Isekai Quartet together.

I'd like seeing more collaboration/cross-over anime to be honest. Maybe Naofumi, (Shield Hero) Rimuru, (Tensei Slime) and others could join for some shenanigans.

  9. I don't think I've seen a thread on this manga yet, which is a shame because it's easily one of my favorite manga of all time. Hopefully I can hear your thought about it, or I can convince you to read it.

My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness is a somber, yet lighthearted take on the self-destructive nature of depression and isolation. Because the main character feels obligated to be a better person, she's pushed into these negative habits that hurt her regularly. We follow her journey of her desperately trying to become a better person, feeling vulernable and fragile every step of the way.

I found this book to be very relatable, even though I'm a straight male. I wanted to hug the main character and let her know everything was going to be okay, but I also accepted that these ways of thinking are toxic for the both of us. I don't cry when I watch movies/shows, but this manga got me because of how much it personally appealed to me.

Hopefully I have let you guys discover something special if you haven't read it yet.

  10. Honestly, I thought it was passable. I've only seen the first two seasons, and it's had its ups and downs, but I don't think it necessarily deserved the hate it got from the anime community years ago. I think it was just an easy target because it was a popular show.

That being said, it's not particularly a favorite show of mine. I'd say that if you like video game anime, you could give it a try. Personally, though, most (not all) video anime are disappointing for me.

  11. Well, this might be the small-time YouTuber speaking inside me, but I do feel empathy for you. It's pretty tough, putting effort into your videos just for them to barely get any traction. Then, when you try to advertise your channel, you get hit with backlash and/or silence. It really does hurt like hell.

I see that you've set up an account, and have even taken the time to add things like your favorite genres and anime on your profile. You're clearly putting some effort in, but please know that Anime Forums really doesn't like it when it gets spammed.  You can find the rules here. I didn't really understand a lot until I had spent more time here, but I've come to realize that there's a tightly-knit community here. It's a bad look when you disregard that community for your own gain.

Since you've spent a while on your channel, (I looked around on YouTube, and found a channel that I think is yours) I'm assuming that you're going to keep trekking on this journey. I've been on and off with my content, but I'm here for the long haul, too. If the both of us keep uploading and getting better, I'm sure we'll be noticed one day. As for Anime Forums, the people here are very friendly and welcoming, so I'm sure they'd forgive you if you show an effort to seem like you're willing to become a part of the community. I'm a newer member myself, you know.

This was kind of rambly. Sorry about that. Maybe the empathy I have for someone who's struggling in the same way I have makes me want to encourage others, so that they don't feel as lonely as I did. I don't know.

    Good luck, buddy.

It's weird, at least for me, KyoAni's move light sided series tend to be really well done, but the more series movie or series (like Violet or Koe no Katachi) tend to be ... off. They're good, really good, but KyoAni just tends to put too much into the emotional scenes. Like, so much cliché and a soundstrack so loud that you think more about the music than about what actually happeneing.

I completely see what you mean. To be honest, I understand both perspectives of the coin, and I ultimately think it's just personal preference. I've been holding off on Violet Evergarden after three episodes, but I loved A Silent Voice.

Is it just me, or is Toei Animation one of the least discussed studios, even though its among the most influential?

Hahaha, you're right, they completely skipped my mind. How could I forget the titan responsible for the One Piece, PreCure, Dragon Ball, and Digimon anime? I think the reason why Toei is glossed over is actually because they're so influential, to be honest. They give off this "casual" feel, like what they produce isn't anime anime, which seems redundant. I think the best way to put it is like this:

You meet with a friend and you ask each other what your favorite respective anime are. You tell him your favorite anime is FLCL or the Monogatari Series or something like that. Then, your friend tells you that their favorite anime is Dragon Ball Super. I hate to sound like an elitist here, but you can understand where I'm getting, right? An anime like the Monogatari Series or FLCL have more beneath the surface. They have a lot to analyze and utilize anime as a medium to its fullest potential through stellar visuals. On the other hand, Dragon Ball is an action series that appeals to a massive audience. (Not to mention, it can suffer heavily in the animation department in some episodes.)

I'm not saying someone is inferior for liking Dragon Ball or anything like that, but I have met plenty of people that watch shows like Dragon Ball and claim to not be anime fans. Conversely, many of my friends that are into anime do not have Dragon Ball as their favorite anime.

  13. Kyoto Animation is the most likely the most consitently influential studio at the moment. Most of what they make is still talked about today. They can make funny shows like Nichijou, Dragon Maid, and K-On, but also emotional shows like The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, A Silent Voice, (one of my favorite anime of all time) and Violet Evergarden.

Also, props to ufotable for remaking Fate. They seem to be doing a good job with Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer).
