You know, it's a darn shame that I have to drive to an entirely different city just to find produce that doesn't look it fell out of a rubbish bin. On the bright side, I did find a wider variety of fruits for snacking this week: apples, pluots, red plums, pears, peaches, & nectarines.
I also plan to get some grapefruit, lemons, apricots, & grapes but I'll have to drive even further away for those so I might just go in the morning.
The best part of this is that now that I eat fruit so often I've begun to crave it instead of things like potato chips, cookies, etc. & I'm not too far from reaching my next weight & fitness goals, so this is very encouraging.

@Wedgy that's just it. I do have access to it in my area. I live within a 20 mile radius of 6 different grocery stores, 3 of which are within walking distance. The problem? Due to this crisis & rising cases here, people are stocking up on more produce as soon as it's stocked, so if you don't get there at that time you're stuck with whatever's left. There are specialty natural grocers in surrounding cities that carry mostly organic produce & they stay fully stocked but the prices are much higher. Given that I stock up on fresh produce only once a week, the drive isn't too awful. Now if all I wanted were apples, bananas, & maybe some fresh pineapples or tomatoes then the local stores have got me covered & then some. But if I'm going to be able to maintain this, I need variety.
Something fun that I've started doing is googling the health benefits of various fruits & vegetables so for example, one week I'll focus on produce that helps with blood pressure, one week weight loss, one week anti cancer properties, etc. This ensures that I'm eating a wide variety of produce & getting a greater amount of natural vitamins & nutrients. If it simply isn't possible to get the fruit I want or need, I just buy it frozen. It's not the end of the world, I just prefer fresh when I can get it.
I've also changed from having one free day each week to every two weeks & am going to change it again to just once a month. I'm doing this to help break the habit of using food as a reward. Eventually, there won't be any designated free days at all. In lieu of food, I'm using my desire to cosplay as a reward instead. The next weight/fitness goal is quite significant for me so I am going to start buying items to put together my first cosplay. I've decided on Yourichi from Bleach. Part of the reason I chose her is because she is extremely fit, so it serves as motivation. I've even started choosing some of my strength training based on her physique. She has great arms, so I've added more upper body exercises.
I'm feeling a lot better these days & that will only increase if I keep going. I'm very proud of my progress so far & am finding new ways to capitalize on this momentum.
