There are a few series that I think would have been better if they followed the source material better. FMA (2003), while not absolutely perfect, did not really give me that feeling, at least until Dante revealed her reasons for doing what she did.

I think Black Org is still kind of interesting, but after Bell Tree express arc, things got rather shallow. I really wish things kind of picked up after what Vermouth told Mrs. Kudo, as that was the perfect moment to start revealing more about them. Favorite villain of detective fiction, huh? Let's see. I find Moriarty fairly interesting, which is probably why The Final Problem is one still fairly enjoyable to me, and a close second would be Mr. Brown. There are one or two others that I like, but they more fit under crime fiction than detective fiction.

I feel this way a lot myself, even when I get dragged to some place where I am being made to stand for a long time, which ends up making my feet hurt and I just walk circles to try and alleviate it.

When I need to get somewhere on my own, I always use public transportation. I feel much safer on my feet than in a vehicle driven by me, not to mention it helps me maintain my stamina.

I would probably help with the story. As I have read quite a few books, manga or not, I can get a good grasp of what the writer is trying to attempt and tell them where they need to improve and possibly give them a few suggestions of what can be done. I tend to be one with stories too, but writing stories for others is not my thing.

Erased I would make it longer, so that everything after episode 10 would be much better, including the final confrontation (neither the manga nor anime were perfect, but the manga' final confrontation actually felt like a finale, whereas it felt like a waste of time in the anime).
