  1. Welcome to the community, Yam. I hope you like it here. Everyone is fairly friendly.
  2. If you were to try to conquer the world, who would you recruit in your crusade?
  3. Want to get back to reading a book that I started today, since I am already on chapter 16. Unfortunately, there is a bit of noise pollution here.
  4. Do you see yourself going out Rambo style in a Zombie apocalypse?
  5. If this community died, as in nobody posted any more, how badly would you miss all of us?
  6. Thanks. I appreciate that.

    Ask john

Have you challenged anybody to an old fashioned duel?
  8. Compared to the rest of you, this probably is not so great, but oh well, it was what I got with my only good hand.
  9. Thanks. I really hated how the filesystem was not completely accessible to Apache, but luckily I backed up CentOS as an appliance after getting permissions and commands right (I did it all without a GUI too). It's no wonder it is easier to set up a server using the Debian family of Linux distros than the Red Hat family.
  10. Kind of surprising today. A writer whose work I wanted to check out contacted me before I could contact him and suggested the book I wanted

  11. I see. That is fairly is interesting to know. What we were getting at is that the detectives seem to always be at the scene, and if the police were portrayed correctly, there were would awfully good reason to be at the scene and the criminal would need to be smarter It might be a difference between classical and modern detective or crime fiction. Thanks for letting us know.
  12. Went to church today, and did not feel as happy to be there as when I have an interesting discussion here, but at least there was some good.

  13. Thanks for the follow.

      You're welcome~

  14. I put anything that just cannot catch my interest quickly enough, or if they are just another Asterisk War, in which the trope that I noted I was tired of comes into play. Other than that, and porn categories, I am fairly open to try things, but a lot of what is mentioned in the OP does annoy me too.
  15. It's funny that you bring this up, because you are not the only one that noticed this disprency, since there is somebody online work used to work for the police and secret service, and his post was talking about how it tends to be common because making things closer to reality would make it to hard for characters like Lupin and Sherlock to shine. I myself kind of agree that having incompetent police is pretty annoying.
  16. In the beginning, it was great and delivered most of what I want from a mystery series, but these days, it is a hit and miss kind of thing and the cases are not always as interesting as they used to be. If you want to check it out the manga is vastly superior because the plot holes in the anime do not exist in the manga and stays pretty good for maybe 26 volumes.
  17. Is that Anokata? I cannot possibly hug them, because it could be anybody, and I am not particularly fond of hugging random strangers.

Welcome, Zyyxs. I hope you enjoy your time here. Everyone is fairly friendly.
  19. Kind of bored here, after the recent events that occurred, and so I decided to start this thread. Who is your favorite detective in either crime or detective fiction? So, that people will not need to ask, I am not limiting this to any particular medium, so anime and manga characters welcome. For me, while a few of the manga coming out today have fairly interesting sleuths, amateurs or otherwise, I think that my favorite detective would be Hercule Poirot (post Mysterious Affair at Styles). Poirot comes off as rather interesting and pay attention to not only the so-called solid proof, but actually analyzes people and takes many things into account, especially since on of the works he is featured in is solved more through building a psychological profile based off games than things that he suddenly drudges up. He might use trickery sometimes, just like Sherlock and many other detectives, but many of his cases come off as much more satisfying.
  20. Finished reading a horrible book, and hoping to get my mind off of it. In other news, as expected, my own stories went on sale on Smashwords

  21. Never saw the show, but read a few of the original Doyle works, and kind of liked them. Did you watch it on BBC or an associated channel (e.g. BBCA) or online? I kind of wanted to check it out, but none of the services I use has it online.
  22. would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck, and how would you claim victory?
  23. Got CentOS set up with a fully function Apache server without turning off SELinux. Man, that was a chore to figure things out.
  24. Kind of wondering what tomorrow will hold after what I had laid out.
