Mine was caused by my Marine Biology teacher in HS. We always loitered(lol) in his room during lunch, playing MTG and at one point he showed us a VHS tape(OMGWTF) of DNA2. I was hooked instantly!

Ranma 1/2 has an(eventual) somewhat happy ending.

I'm not looking for the standard anime with major filler(Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, DBZ, Inu-Yasha). I'm wondering if there are any anime you personally think just went on too long? Any that went for a 26 episode series when the story could have easily been completely told in 13? A title went for multiple seasons when it only needed one? Discuss... My pick? Tenchi Muyo: War on Geminar. A very simple story easily hashed out in 13 episodes, stretched out too long because "Hey, it's Tenchi Muyo, fans will love it". Ugh.

I don't blame you...Haruhi was very difficult for me to get into at first...took me 4 attempts to watch the entire thing...as far as me dropping something...Naruto...*ducks flying junk* Hey! Yes, I said it! I watched 3 episodes when I found out how long it was probably going to be...and after already dealing with One Piece and Bleach, I dropped out on that one...didn't have the time or energy to invest that much of my life into one series at the time.
