  1. Hi Crowe! Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online are some of my favourite Anime too! =D I can't wait for april either. Welcome to the forums, enjoy it!!
  2. hahaha i wanna go venive b4 it sinks!!! but will also want to go japan as well(not for anime stuff but for the food and culture)! Sent from my GT-I9100 using AN Community Forums mobile app
  3. My favourite seasons are the first season and the Orange Islands I liked how in the Orange Island season it wasn't connected to a game so the anime writers could do anything they wanted to. Really weird though how I noticed while re-watching the first season that all of his badges were handed to him

    Melbourne

Oh, poor Docklands! It has received a lot of criticism. Its had a bit of bad luck. Its main attraction is the Melbourne Star which is an observation wheel which will slowly go around and you are supposedly meant to be able to see great views of Victoria. Unfortunately this wheel had many faults and had to be closed down for years. This meant that a lot of local businesses situated in the Docklands have struggled since the tourism just isn't there. Luckily, the wheel is up and running again, it almost got closed down again. I haven't been on it since none of my friends are game enough to go on it due to its troubles. I know that in Singapore and London they have similar wheels but they're much better. I would suggest anyone who goes to the Docklands to go on the observation if they really want to but I have heard its nothing special since most of the views are blocked by big buildings. Sigh. My favourite place to go when at the Docklands though is Glow In The Dark Mini-Golf. It's really nice. Perfect for a date or a fun day out with family and friends. www.glowgolf.com.au/‎ Docklands also have boat cruises as well. I am yet to go on one but they look really cool. You can go on a cruise that has theatre live entertainment or just a simple buffet or three course meal. I agree with Optic. Definitely go to the Queen Victoria Market and the Skydeck. The Skydeck is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I believe that there isn't much to do in the Docklands so those travelling Melbourne are best to go to other parts of the city or state. For amusement parks, we have Luna Park which is right next to the St Kilda beach and its just a tram ride away. I would also suggest visiting China Town. There are some really nice clothes shops for girls there. Melbourne also has some really cool themed restaurants. There's even a Titanic inspired theatre restaurant. Melbourne has lots of theatre restaurants such as Witches in Britches and Dracula's. We also have some really cool bars. For the anime fan, there are Robot Bar and the Asian Beer Cafe. I would strongly suggest Asian Beer Cafe over Robot Bar, only cause the cocktails are cheaper and better there. Also, go into the toilets while you're there cause they're kind of unique. There is also, Chill On Ice which is an interesting bar where you go below freezing temperatures and have a nice cocktail drink in a frozen glass. Everything in there like the tables and chairs are made out of ice! http://www.chillon.com.au/ We also have outdoor cinemas. There's one in the city called the Rooftop Cinema. rooftopcinema.com.au/‎ There are a lot of nice places which are an hour away from Melbourne - they include Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm - that's where you can pick strawberries and you can also buy the most amazing strawberry desserts. We also have lots of fun mazes around. There are also some nice drive in cinemas still around as well such as www.drivein.net.au/‎ and www.lunardrive-in.com.au/‎ There's probably more I can think of... haha.
  5. Watching Chuunibyou Ren, Wake Up Girls, Imocho, Noragami and Watamote. Noragami is IMO the best anime this season.
  6. Glad to be here, looks good and i have yet to find out what this revamp and ancommunity.net is all about. of course anime but it seem this community is about to either move to this forum platform, or upgrade to a newer more stylish one, I'm not totallly sure. Don't worrie, take your time I know the feeling of working full-time
  7. I still post in my old LiveJournal. It is always a great way to express myself. I think I do agree that Facebook killed blogging when it came to personal diary entries since it was easier just to write a Facebook post about it but blogs are still widely used for restaurant reviews and for some anime reviewing sites as well. Blogs are not dead but what they have been used for have changed, I think. Optic, why don't you use LJ anymore? I think you can get friends from add me communities and I would always reply to you. I didn't have anyone commenting to me for ages on my LJ and then slowly people did admit they were reading. I was shocked!
  8. Careers/Education Finished High-School Degree in Chemistry and Communication. Yes two Uni-courses. Freelance Model Used to work at a company as an office manager/secretary as a job on the side Full time communication trainer, specialist and a manager. I run two departments in two different companies. Communication trainer as in I teach people an communication concept so they can get a contract out of a prospect (sales department). It's fun, I love it that I can teach other people things and meet new people every week. Hobbies: Modeling, as much as it is my job and I earn money of it. I love to model and yes it actually is exhausting. Videogames! Whenever I have a chance to play games I do that, together with friends or my boyfriend. Music, it is still one of my favourite things in the world. I still go to concerts and festivals a lot! Movies! I go to the cinema a lot...like at least 3 times a month haha. Anime/Japan is also still there in my life. I got my boyfriend into it too and I've actually cosplayed last Weekend and created my own costume (always fits better than buying it off the internet and it's the way you want it) and in February we're going to cosplay together. Cats, I am adopting cats from a shelter who need a second chance. One day I hope to have a house with a big backyard which I can set off so they can't escape but still can play out in the open with things I will put in my garden. Why can't they go out of your backyard then? Well I don't want them to get run over or get hurt by a cat hater but don't worry I want a huge garden. Relationships/misc: I've been together with my current boyfriend for almost 2 years and 2 months. We are living together since we were dating for 5 months (he moved in with my parents) and we have our own place for a little bit more than a year. I am not a gothic girl anymore on the outside but I still have it in me. My love for black will always stay and I do go to those gothic related fairs and dress up as an elf or anything else. I even model for a designer of Within Temptation. I 'm a real blondie now, stopped dying my hair for 6 years now I believe.
  9. Since AN: Graduated high school Studied a Bachelor of Media and Communication (majoring in Journalism) and graduated in November Had newspaper articles published in the Geelong Advertiser Work as a Cashier/Supervisor at Coles Supermarkets since 2010 - in October I transferred from Mornington Coles to Tooronga and its going to be a long journey but it means I will get the chance to improve my supervisor skills in closing and opening the store Decided to go back to university in July this year after the job market being so bad - currently studying a Master of Communication but still thinking if this is the right decision - maybe I should do teaching? I really don't know Finally moved out of home in September this year Joined an anime club in 2011, became the president a few months later and really improved the club - it felt like what AN would be like if it existed in real life - after graduating uni I was vice president until conflicts made me leave the club if I had known I was going to go back to uni I would have stayed as president I suppose Finally had a long term real life boyfriend! No more online relationships for me! His name is Alex and I have been dating him since 14th September, 2012

    Blu-Ray

What I've really admired with Japanese media is the packaging and extras are usually stylishly... intricate. The first two Sword Art Online Bluray volumes I bought came with plastic sleeve protectors. Absolutely stunning packaging and a nice collectors box: As for the money making, so true! Each volume cost me 6800 yen. And the Mobile Gundam SEED Bluray complete set I bought... well the cost was ridiculous. But I really feel the studios deserve it. I only started buying Anime recently for the ones that I found touching. Gundam SEED and SAO touched me, so I went out and bought them. Slightly off-topic I also tend to grab the OST, artbooks and figures (if they're still available and of a nice quality build). PS3 games are region free, I know this because I used to buy PS3 games from a Hong Kong online retailer because it was cheaper ($40-$50 USD versus the absurd $80-$110 AUD here for a new release) and they worked fine on my PS3. But SOME Blu-Ray movies do have region coding. Basically: (with a few exceptions) A: East Asia B: Africa, Europe, Oceania C: Central Asia The Hong Kong Blu-Rays I buy normally come in Region A... they won't play on my PS3 because we're Region B... <_<On the PS3 you can't change the coding whereas on some standalone Blu-Ray players you can... anyway I just play them on my PC's Blu-Ray player which I set to Region B.
  11. Did anyone watch this? It's a mecha anime that started a few weeks back. The title is kinda silly but there's an explanation behind it and the show shared the same art style as Gundam SEED. So far I find it to be decent but the opening is great imo.

    Hey!

Hello iMon!! How have you been, and how is Online Digimon going? Noticed the main site is down, is it undergoing renovation? Regarding Digi Legends... well I wanted to start expanding to other anime titles outside Digimon Frontier. We've pretty much exhausted the Digimon Frontier side of things. The community also shared this feeling too, so it was the best way to help get everyone involved in projects that they'd be interested in doing (there's only so much I can do by myself in terms of content, especially since now I'm working full-time). On a more technical note you will also have noted we're on the IPB suite. So far it's working out great having a single sign in without needing to use bridges (we were using Coppermine on the old gallery which felt disjointed with the main site). And welcome aboard. I must come down and visit your forums again sometime.
  13. Currently Imma watching quite a lot of anime... But these are my fav this season! Valvrave the Liberator Suisei no Gargantia To Aru Kagaku No Railgun S Hataraku Maou-sama! And I just finish watching Ghost in the Shell: Arise
  14. Begun watching Attack on Titan, gotta admit the anime quality is much than that of the manga's
  15. What languages can you speak and understand and also what is your proficiency? Hungarian (native) I was born Hungarian, which is probably a huge blessing. Hungarian is one of those languages you probably stand no chance in learning as a foreigner. It has complicated grammar, insane conjugation and lots of homophones. Too bad that because Hungary is a tiny country with practically no influence abroad and there're but 15 million Hungarians spread around the world, there isn't much practical use to the language. English (derp) I've studied English for about 10 years in school and I've been actively using it in everyday conversations (mostly online) for almost a decade now. Still, I've never lived in an English-speaking environment, so I probably sound very unnatural. At least (according to others) I don't have a bad accent. I need to use American English when fansubbing, and that probably shows, but I love British English a lot. The accent, the slang, it's just better than AmE. Japanese (don't laugh at me) I've lived in Japan for over four years now and I had the language hammered into my brains at probably the best place in Japan (TUFS JLC). By now I'm fluent in both everyday and professional Japanese. I translate about a dozen of anime series every week for various fansubbing groups. My reading speed is laughable when compared to native Japanese and I still misunderstand stuff sometimes (mostly due to the total lack of Japanese background), but I think I'm improving. German (I don't even) I studied German for over six years back in Hungary. I was about to take my advanced exam when I got my scholarship in Japan, and since then I haven't used German whatsoever. I still have a basic understanding of it and I can read and mostly understand youth literature (I still have the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on my shelf in German), but I don't think I could say a whole sentence or take part in a discussion. Probably if I were thrown into a German-only environment suddenly, my old studies would resurface rapidly, but at present I'll just stick to "Ich spreche kein Deutsch." Any new languages you would like to learn? I studied Spanish for half a year or so back in Hungary. I'd love to pick that up again. Also, Russian and Chinese. Too bad unless my future job requires me to learn them and provide courses, I probably never gonna learn them. Have you spoken any basic phrases recently of another language (e.g. travelling)? I can say "I don't speak {insert language here}" in pretty much every tongue I encountered. Other than that, I can say "Please finish boarding and leaving the train. The doors are closing" in Czech and a few swearwords in Chinese. I also picked up a few words of French and Italian, but that's more like the common European vocabulary.
  16. Sure as hell it's a very popular show (we're getting steady 100k+ downloads every ep), but I don't think it's all that exceptional. It's a shonen show full of action. The art is ages better in the anime than the manga, which is a relief (I hated the manga's art). As for the writing, the plot seems to be quite cliched with all the dark and gloomy conspiracies in the background, and the drama is the standard you can expect from a well-selling shonen (the likes of Naruto). The dialog's quite simple, but I don't mind that. Current goal: translating an episode in 90 min. (I think I couldn't manage it under 2 hours so far.)

    Your HDDs

If you ever need more storage for video editing, USB 3 is fast enough for a decent scratchspace. By that I mean if you have archived some source footage and just want to drag and drop from your external that will work well (assuming of course you're connected to a USB 3 port). Going through all my Anime DVD and Blurays on HDDs is great for making screenshots but rapidly running out of storage again.
  18. It certainly looks that way Fab. Indeed we all agree on: It should've been longer - rushed!! Preferring the SAO arc over the AO arc. I read through some of the light novel recently and was really surprised at some of the scenes. There was more context for Kirito's actions as his thoughts were written out. For example, it was heavily emphasised towards the end of SAO in the manga that he had to beat the system, to escape the confines of the system by spirit and will through Asuna. Whereas in the anime... it seemed to be portrayed more as a miracle as there were almost no voiceovers on the final SAO battle scene. Also... looks like an English dub is on the way: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-05-24/sword-art-online-to-air-on-toonami-starting-in-august The dialogue was so monotone in many parts, particularly the house scenes so I do wonder if the VAs will cope.
  19. hahaha i watched this!! Its kinda nice!!! lol this seaon seems to have lots of mecha anime!
  20. I read abit of the manga and really like the concept. Waiting for more episodes before I start the anime.
  21. SAO I liked it, the storyline was very good and interesting but they really rushed through the 75/100 levels and they really could have thought of more episodes, battles and such so they wouldn't rush it. The ending was really out of the blue, I was really hoping for more episodes. Alfheim Online It wasn't as exciting as SAO and the ending of it was way to perverted if you asked me which annoyed me, it was just so weird and I don't understand that if Kirito was like Skills level one that he could have rushed it through it that fast. I do like the anime in general but it was really rushed...
  22. I have picked up Ben-to, an anime about fighting for cheap food. o_O
  23. Ciara

    Relieving Stress

My main source of stress is work AND school. Right now, I am not working or going to school (waiting my nursing board exams.. Any day now, ugh!). When I had both, my stress reliever was food. It was bad though, I gained 20lbs (but it was actually in a good way.. I used to be so frail! Needed the muscle boost, but now I am just so untoned!) Now that I don't have to wear scrubs 7 days a week, I still go back to food (haha.. I have a lot of comfort foods), a cup of tea, reading, writing (poetry, snail mail, and maybe diary entry), video games (usually shooting games.. but I am iffy about it because it can get pretty frustating so yes, it can add up to the stress >_>), and watching something -- a movie, anime (getting back to it again), or TV show!
  24. Looks like you've made some very good connections Nick. As for me... Careers: Volunteer work with the Ambulance service for 2 years. Full time work as IT support for a school coming up to 2 years now. Hobbies: Tried making short films for 6 months. We made some nice wacky productions including the use of replica weapons and LED lightbars for our Police cars but we never had enough actors to take it really serious and thus could not justify spending money on filming permits to film in the CBD... Inspired to recreate AN again. Rekindling my Anime interest again. Possibly going mad by purchasing Japanese Blurays for awesome quality which are very expensive compared to the local releases here... Relationships/misc: Still living and enjoying the single life. Went to Europe alone last September and visited London, Amsterdam and Vilnius (Lithuania). Eye opening experience. Moving house soon.
