Animedragon
None of the anime series I like has 300+ episodes. The closest would be Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, and even between them their episode count is less than 300.

Probably the closest for me that I still have some interest in would be My Hero Academia (season 6 ended earlier this year but that still is only 138 episodes, not including the OVAs & movies). I watched around 150 episodes of One Piece before burning out on it early in the Skypeia arc. Generally speaking I feel like at least 25 episodes, but less than 100 is the ideal length for a series. I agree 25 but less than 100 is the ideal length, but there seems to be a trend towards 13 episode series, which I find to be too short. There's also this annoying, to me anyway, habit of rushing the ending in the final 5 minutes of episode 13, or worse as a series of stills under the closing credits of the last episode, the worst offender in this respect is Tsuki ga Kirei where the stills showing how the story ended look like they were drawn by a different artist so the characters don't look quite the same as they did in the series. efaardvark
I prefer the 13-26 ep format. One season is enough to set up the characters, plot, settings, etc. and start getting into the real story. The second season is the good one, assuming things are done right. After that I've found that things tend to get repetitive and/or start dragging. The monster-of-the-week battles that go on for years don't do anything for me. I get impatient for resolution and closure unless the story is really good. It is pretty rare for me to follow something through 3 or more seasons.
Animedragon
I tend to agree with you about the 13-26 ep format, although I'm quite happy with 52 or more eps as long as the story is progressing and the eps aren't just an endless series of monster-of-the-week battles. I suspect that that's why most of the series I've watched recently have tended to be slice-of-life type series.
holywhippet
Does anyone know how many episodes Naruto went for if you cut out all of the filler episodes?

IIRC the original had over 200 episodes, of which I'd estimate 40-50% were filler. I never even tried shippuden but if that ratio also holds for that then we're talking around 200 of the 500+ episodes there were filler as well. That would leave about 400(ish?) non-filler episodes for both the original and shippuden together. (Believe it or not there's sites that track that sort of thing.)
