Scariest Anime

Stuff like Junji Ito scares me pretty good, I like it though.

Paranoia Agent scares me too ~ and I guess I would consider it really bloody lol.

To be honest, despite liking the horror genre of things I don't often watch a ton of horror anime. I usually end up just watching horror movies like Stephen King things.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories is the only anime I can think of that actually made me feel a little jumpy. I found it very weird and creepy and the art style unsettling to me this was the scariest anime.

I don't watch scary or very violent anime. There's enough scary and violent things shown on the TV news and in the papers without having them in my anime as well.

The (fail) Ring | Horror movie art, Halloween funny, Scary movies

When I was a kid that puppet in unico freaked me out a bit

On a personal level it’s probably due to it’s similarities to the Salem’s Lot mini-series I watched on tv when I was 10 (1979) & it gave me nightmares. Beyond that the vampire designs are particularly creepy, especially the eyesspacer.png

And things get even more gruesome once the humans start fighting back spacer.png

Shimoneta scares me a bit because it seems like it might happen. In the series people are physically equipped with devices that ensure they behave morally, by other people's standards.

Another and When they cry comes to my mind. Mahou shoujo site is also quite brutal. Blood-C was little disturbing. Corpse party was straight up brutal and nothing else. I think Hell girl could be scary for someone, it was more depressing to me.

I just found Meiruko-chan...

I enjoyed that one, unfortunately the anime ends with lots of unanswered questions & there’s been no word of a 2nd season. So I’ve been following the manga.

When they cry

Have you watched the Gou & Sotsu seasons? They might seem like a remake at first, but are actually a sequel.

I do know of the when they Cry Sequels. Not bad, but not really as scary as season 1.

Meiruko-chan is one of those anime that they made before the manga finished. Like how Walter wasn't a traitor in the original Helsing and there aren't supposed to be any nazis in Fullmetal alchemist.

Still you have to love the concept. It's sort of like ghost Whisperer, only where most of what she sees seem to be scary demons rather than nice ghosts looking for help so she solves the problem by ignoring them

The hard part is finding something genuinely scary that doesn't just make me laugh
