417Unlocked
Do you prefer to watch an Anime with a MC who slowly over many trials through many Arcs become OP? Such as Demon Slayer My Hero Academia Naruto/Shippuden OR do you prefer your MC OP from first appearance? One Punch Man Overlord In the Land of Leadale Demon Lord Retry The Irregular at Magic High School Second Group for me. Something about the MC being untouchable makes the anime story line more imaginative. The manga-ka had to put more thought into it in my opinion that is. Kirika_Madeleine
I like Mc is already veteran but it has a room to be stronger, I like he is already strong at start but not op yet, but later it become op (I don't that train to get stronger but thought experience.)
Zeref
Somewhere in the middle I like both styles. I think to pick between I like more the ones that start off not at full potential and watch as they grow into someone much stronger. I like to watch the plot progress as they grow.

Animedragon
My taste in anime tends more towards Slice of Life and drama but whatever style of series I'm watching I like to see the MC's relationships, character and abilities develop during over the course of the story as I find this much more interesting than having an MC presented as all powerful from episode 1. Sasuke
I prefer the first type between the two. Anime such as Naruto and Demon Slayer are more my taste. 1
Skin
I personally like when an MC is strong but not unreasonably strong, aside from shows like OPM I think the potential for the MC to lose always makes it more tense and engaging. I think the coolest characters are ones who aren’t untouchable at all but still carry on anyway, like Jack from Baki, Guts from Berserk, or early Tanjiro

I agree that's what I like ~ I guess I enjoy the story and plot more when I watch them grow as the show goes along. I find something a little boring about someone who can already do everything and has no competition. I've watched both kinds though and both can have interesting stories. I guess just the first is what usually appeals to me more.

Yeah sorry about that this question is definitely about only a handful of genres. On 11/4/2024 at 12:41 PM, Sasuke said: I prefer the first type between the two. So characters who go in even if the outcome isn't guaranteed.. But now it seems if I rewatch Naruto Shippuden I always start at the pain fight or bleach I start after he got his bankai
Wickett
If done well, I enjoy both pretty equally. I'd have to say I have way more favorites that are the weak to strong progression, but anime like One Punch Man offer up a great question right off the bat of, "how is he so powerful?" Setting up a great backstory arc for later.

Okay alright, if I had to choose, I would lean towards the first style, where the character begins with little power and gradually evolves into someone with a lot of strength as the story progresses. I like to watch as their story unfolds and I feel like it creates a stronger connection for me when I see them start off facing challenges, and then overcome obstacles to become someone strong. It feels like I’ve went on an adventure with them. I get completely absorbed by these types of animes, and I can't help but feel a little bit sad when they end. The same way I feel when I finish a really good book.
Zenki
i think variety is good, take Claymore for instance, one season was all it took.

Sakura Dragon
I am perfectly content with either but, if I have to choose, I’ll go with the character starting out weak and progressively become stronger.

Twilight_Winter
I generally prefer to watch a main character grow to become as strong as they can, I am fine with watching them start out strong, but not over powered of course. I can enjoy a over powered character though, but I have to be able to like them though.
