Posting Irrelevant Art

Recommended Posts

While I enjoy making banners and signatures of anime characters I'm also an amateur photographer and while most of what I take are "normal" photographs I also like to manipulate my photos in creative ways so that they look more like art works rather than photos. Recently I've been considering creating a gallery separate from my GFX stuff to showcase some of my photo creations. It will, of course, be anime character free and mostly feature railway stuff, but there'd  be other stuff as well 🙂.

I think people should post whatever they want in their art thread. There are lots of graphic artists that like to post the banner and signatures they make to share them. Sharing GFX isn't a new thing on forums.

It wouldn't make sense to post art from around the would either in someone's GFX showcase because the banners and signatures posted there are ones that person actually made in Photoshop and not just a random picture on the internet. People spend years learning how to make graphics and graphic design is a real job people make money from as well.

Adding photography to a GFX case would just make it messy and not everyone takes photographs they want to post.

Also, calling a banner or signature someone spends hours or days making "irrelevant art" is ridiculously rude. Many GFX projects involve gathering a lot of resources, planning, and often are personal.

The topics containing banners and signatures of anime characters are showcases designated for that person's graphics collections that they have created. I would presume they are posting anime banners and signatures because this is an anime forum. You can't dictate what type of GFX a graphics artist chooses to make, so it is their personal discretion what they would choose to share on their topic of the art they've made. Furthermore, they aren't doing anything wrong since the forum section itself has the description of "A showcase for all the wonderful drawings, and graphics our members have made." Graphics encompasses items such as banners, signatures, wallpapers, and any other creations made using Photoshop.

There is a topic dedicated to sharing any art previously posted by @Sakura where any art can be posted that you like from around the world, photography, personally drawn pictures, paintings, etc,

You always have the option of simply not looking at their works if you don't like what they choose to make, rather than saying their artwork is irrelevant. I myself enjoy looking at the lovely things my talented friend here have spent hours working on.

What @Sasuke said is probably true, people are sharing anime art here because it's an anime forum. But calling people's art irrelevant when they put a lot of time, work, effort into is what @Sarada said, rude and belittling the effort they spend making it and probably all you're doing with comments like this is hurt people's feelings since their art is meaningful to them. Art can also be anything and graphics art is a huge part of art you wouldn't have any little pictures online without graphics artist.

Agree I enjoy looking at their art whatever it is whether anime related or some other theme I would be impressed and like to see it.

I do art of both anime and non-anime characters when I do GFX however I tend to lean more towards anime characters because that's what I like to do with my personal time. Plus yeah, as stated, this is an anime forum... I've made a ton of non-anime GFX over the years as well but most of those are for projects for websites, blogs, or ads that I've gotten paid for the creation of and I wouldn't be sharing them here since they were for a paid client and not something I did on my own as a hobby.

Also this ^ the section is created to be able to post graphics that you make which is what everyone there is doing so it's not irrelevant to the section.

As someone who has spent sometimes weeks on GFX projects with countless hours, and a typical signature or banner I can spend anywhere from 4-8 hours making, yeah I agree, saying it's irrelevant art is insulting and offensive to people who enjoy making GFX as a hobby/professionally. & many (not all, but many) of the things I make I feel inspired to make because of personal reasons so I feel that ~ it usually tells a story I'm feeling just like any art would.

That sounds awesome! Combining your photography skills with creative editing to turn photos into art is such a cool idea. A separate gallery for your photo creations would be a great way to showcase your unique style, especially with the railway theme, it’s such a niche but fascinating subject. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Totally agree, graphic design takes skill, time, and creativity, and it deserves its own space just like any other art form. Mixing in unrelated images would definitely blur the focus of a showcase. Everyone has their own artistic medium, and dismissing digital art as "irrelevant" is just unfair.

I feel that a board about the arts should feature art from around the world, not just banners and signatures of anime characters.

I like the idea so why not create a topic related to your topic? Like for example a good web designing! I think your onto that! Art Images mixed with codes, isnt that facinating🤔

Or if you can do something like this in your site like when you put your cursor in a video, it will shatter or explode into pieces that create another small videos! This will do using html5.

Show your skill and support the heart of this thread! Human brain are limitless unless you are in your limit,, already lol

I've created two topics. One for my anime signatures the other for my photography.

(You'll find both of them in the A-F Art Exhibit section of the Forum.)

The cold weather in January & February didn't do much for my motivation, but now spring is (supposedly) here I'm slowly getting more motivated 🙂

Inactive boards dropped my motivation unlike before it was so active and very lively. They dont know there are a lot of possibilities this age including that AI art! Some are mixing their art with AI, some are with pride, they are confident with their skills without out AI.
