Seshi
Hey everyone, I just LOVE Japanese culture and get so much out of anime that depicts unique areas of cultural exploration. Anyone else? Please share your fav anime with strong Japanese cultural aspects and explain its peculiarity. Or just tell about it in whatever way you see fit for discussion  For example I really enjoyed summer wars, for its realistic depictions of familial values in Japan as well as the examples of their unique cuisine.
Geano
Most definitely for me this is also the case. Now with that said its not by any means a deal breaker if it dose not emphasis Japanese culture, but it is always a plus. As faar as series in question here are a few examples. Da Capo 1-3 High School DxD Madoka Magcia Lucky Star Fruits Basket sub only Ace Attorney Detective Conan sub only  Ouran High School Host Club Inuyasha. This one is more on historical theory on Japanese history mind you.
Ohayotaku
Hinomaru Sumo for it's attention to the cultural & ceremonial aspects of the sport, as well as some of the strategy & tactics involved Gurazeni Money Pitch offered what I considered to be a different POV on being a professional athlete than you would get from an American look at baseball Gegege no Kitaro for it's exploration of folklore concerning different yokai and some different views on modern vs traditional values Yuru Camp for it's exploration of actual hiking/camping sites in Japan Dagashi Kashi for it's exploration of a unique type of traditional store that specializes in cheap candy & treats Zombieland Saga for referencing actual businesses, events & specialties of Saga prefecture in Japan EDIT: Almost forgot about Golden Kamuy for it's exploration of Ainu culture Edited February 14, 2019 by Ohiotaku
Illusion of Terra
Surprised no one brought up Rurouni Kenshin yet. Gives you some details (even if not totally accurate) on Japanese history (and also etiquette) at the downfall of the Tokugawa era and beginning of the early Meiji era. I find historical Japanese culture in anime much more interesting than contemporary one, for some reason. Beocat
Non Non Biyori ~ great slice of life anime that gives you a genuine window into rural Japanese life for kids. Â Hanayamata ~ another slice of life that focuses on a Japanese dance called Yosakoi. Very interesting.
