  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaQ37Efs8Qw Synopsis ------------- So the other day while I was streaming with @Davis , we came across the Blue Exorcist movie, which I was previously unaware had even been released. Being a huge Blue Exorcist fan, I of course wanted to watch this. Below I will list my first impressions and final impressions. First impressions: So, obviously I was excited. Because I absolutely loved season 1 of Blue Exorcist and am currently streaming season 2. The artwork for the cover posters, I'll just start with that. Beautiful! The animation is quite well, a bit higher quality than the first season of the anime, I believe. I also had a lot of hype for the soundtrack since it has a lot of UVERworld, which, they never fail to deliver in my opinion in regards to shounen anime. Final impressions: I enjoyed it. It had good action, good development and some nice emotional parts. I rather enjoyed the rabbit demons character development and the reflection on Rin and his brothers past, how it effected them, etc. I would have liked for the timeline to be a little better explained, but otherwise I was satisfied overall. The ending also left me a bit emotional. T_T I will not spoil anything, but it is worth the watch if you're a fan of this series. Overall rating: 8/10~

  3. I knew about the contraceptive thing and the scare tactics used by the government attached to using the pill, but am curious regarding what they're taught in school in the form of sex Ed. Any other info you can provide given your experience with your dorm mates? Just curious since I've never had the guts to bring up the subject of inequality of women in Japan with actual Japanese around me.

  4. @Kirry Technically, the movie is just a special, im not sure where it sits Canon wise or not, it is expanded on a special chapter that was published at then end of one of the manga. There are also 4 special episodes that were only released in japanese you can find if you do enough searching. Of course when, watching season 2 you need to remember to forget the last half of season one, as that was made up and not canon as the manga hadn't been made past that point, so season 2 is actually the real canon continuation of the forst series from about ep 11-13 ish

  5. Glad you brought up the topic! I took a Japanese gender and sexuality course while attending Kansai Gaidai last year, and it was pretty eye opening! We talked about the korean women who suffered under the Japanese 'comfort woman' system during WW2, current lesbian and gay lifestyles/lack of visibility, and general sexual education students in japan receive (or the lack thereof). It was really shocking to me when we discussed just how much women there lack agency when entering in and maintaining relationships. Some female japanese dormmates were also in the class but were often silent. When discussing contraceptives though they shared how little they really knew or were taught about by family and school. One girl who was close to me was shocked that so many of us use and promote the pill, (somewhere like 5% or less use it in Japan), because her mother told her that if you ever take it you can NEVER have kids again. (i felt bad for her, we set her straight) Fun fact: The pill was banned until 1999 in Japan (that's 50 years later than the US) Women are also expected to just allow men to decide whether to use condoms or not, and to never contradict their decision. Yeah....no that would never fly with me. Wish i would still take those courses D: (Sorry if this was so wordy all!!)
