  1. My favorite male character is Alphonse Elric from FMA. The whole spirit trapped in the suit of armor schtick is cool as hell and doesn't get used all that much in recent. His character arcs in '03 and Brotherhood are both excellent as well. I guess my favorite female character is Tomoko from Watamote. Her sperginess is very relatable, and I have to admit there were times in my life I was just as if not more neurotic about social interaction. Makes me wish more factors outside of DVD sales impacted the chances of shows getting more seasons.
  2. Watching some Shuffle! and To Love Ru. Both pretty alright anime in the harem romance genre. I wanted to play the Shuffle VN, but there doesn't seem to be a legitimate way to acquire the game anymore. It seems there used to be a steam release that got removed a while back, unfortunately. Hoping to get back into a habit of watching anime after neglecting to do so to focus on schoolwork, college can be a real chore. Pic in spoiler unrelated.
  3. It's what I think all live action adaptations failed to capture. This is what they should've been from the start, wacky 1:1 recreation attempts of the source material through any means possible.
  4. Sinking some time into Half Minute Hero on my PSP. Very fun RPG spoof that has the player saving the world over and over again in 30 seconds or less. A Goddess of time helps the player by freezing time in villages and allowing them to rewind time (for a certain amount of gold). Highly recommended for anyone who likes Famicom era JRPGs and has a wacky sense of humor. Excellent choice from Telltale. Objectively one of their best, up there with Tales from the Borderlands. Too bad the sequel is taking as long as it is to come out.
  5. Please note that the plugin I list doesn't prevent thumbnail ads on the front page, and that video ads are just skipped really fast after popping up on screen. This can be jarring depending on your own personal preferences. In recent news, YouTube has decided that all adblock plugins are no longer kosher. The bastards have gone out of their way to block their video player for any users detected using them. In my testing, it also prevents usage of tracker blockers such as Privacy Badger. This marks yet another degradation of legacy sites most of the world uses on a more than regular basis. YouTube is known for implementing horrible decisions for years, this being the latest in a long line of them. Being a website made in the heyday of mid aughts tech boom, and created in a much less corporatized internet ecosystem, this just marks another die off of legacy users to the site. It also marks a recent trend in legacy web 2.0 sites, which make zero profit from decades of being run under the idea that, one day, hosting thousands of terabytes of data will eventually be profitable. YouTube as a company never made money, from its beginning days to its entire history under Google ownership. These sites thrived through angel investors keeping the doors open under the idea that, because they have such a large userbase of so many people, the site would (eventually) be profitable. A slowdown in receiving investor money in recent years (due to a loss in faith in big tech as a whole) has caused these sites to go into full panic mode and do anything to make as much money as possible in order to bring the investors back. Twitter charging a dollar a year, and Reddit pay walling their API access are further examples of corporate sites ruining user experience for the sake of squeezing a few more dollars out of their user base. Those inclined enough have made work arounds which (at the time of writing) work to prevent further ad bombardment. I, personally, have taken to using RemoveAdblockThing, a plugin for tamper monkey. I also use a plugin which reimplements the dislikes counter. Like I said at the start, however, it only quickly skips through any ads video that pop up, and does not remove thumbnail ads. https://www.tampermonkey.net/ https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing https://www.returnyoutubedislike.com/install This method is the one that works best with me for now. I tested several other methods around and found this one to be the simplest to implement, and results in the most consistent blocking experience. I highly recommend doing research on the topic and finding a method that works best for you, personally. The early implementation of this has left a lot of room for bypassing this, and it will only become more difficult to do so over time.
  6. Started Noah of the Red Sea. Pretty good vampire fiction, excited to see where it goes.
  7. Started rewatching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood with the anime club I helped restart last year. Very good watch, we got through to the Scar fight where Winry points a gun at him. Very good anime, but it definitely has more of a "this came out over a decade ago" feel than when I last watched it. (Probably because it is.) Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't read the manga, I suggest watching the '03 series first though. It's a better watch order (in my opinion) because of the nature of each version.
  8. Playing through some more of Forza Horizon 4. A very modern take on a racing game, it is absolutely not a game everyone can enjoy. The over-the-top cheery vibe presented in the game can be grating at times, but it's definitely one in gaming that is far between titles. Having a good balance of genuine qualities and corniness is a fine line that is difficult to go along. Otherwise, it is a very fun racing game, with collectathon elements in acquiring as many different makes and models of cars as possible. Definitely pick up the gold edition when it's on sale for like 30ish bucks.
  9. Rewatched the entirety of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the End of Evangelion. It's credited with many things, such as increase popularization of anime in the west, as well as rejuvenation in an industry that was seeing a downturn in it's production and returns. The show overall continues to receive attention and adoration many years later, with the rebuild movies continuing to build on this large fan base. It's the show that has mystified itself with it's production and final release, with many misconceptions about Anno's intentions with the final product. The most common one is the End of Evangelion, which many proclaim was a direct response to back lash over the final two episodes. Anno expressed in interviews that the final product was his intention, and was not directly influenced by outside criticizm. Another one is the misconception of the number of death threats that Studio Gainax and Anno received. While there are a couple of emails that express this, the amount of hate directly aimed at Anno and the studio is often very overstated. A famous image of death threats being graffitied on the Gainax studio building was actually from a fringe religious group, and not angry fans. While a staple of the medium that receives discussion the world over, enough to warrent arguments of being the most overrated anime of all time, I still highly reccomend this to both those who have never seen it, and to those who have already watched it any number of times. Much of the modern anime landscape continues to be morphed by direct inspiration from this continually relavent masterpiece.
  10. I don't think so. I wouldn't be surprised if there was though, some cosplayers can get REAL dedicated to their craft lmao.
  11. My buddy went to Otakon dressed as an XOF grunt from MGS5. He had a fun time, took some pics with some other cosplayers.
  12. Playing some Sniper Elite 4. Pretty good WW2 flavored slotting simulator. The gameplay loop is much less like traditional sniping and is more in line with an action stealth game. The game favors using a silenced pistol and takedowns for the general rogues gallery of Nazis and Fascists, and sniping for higher value targets. The inclusion of some kind of sound masking in every level can make the sniping trivially easy. The only real difficulty spike if you are competent is if you go on Authentic or Authentic Plus, which removes the guide that tells you where your bullet will go when you hold your breath. Alright game overall. The game and all it's DLC go on sale on steam all the time, cop it and Sniper Elite 3 when they're dirt cheap.
  13. Three monitors are the best. You have one for games or college assignments, one for watching or listening to media, then a third for anything else you want. The excess of screen space is more advantageous than the lack of it.
  14. Specs: Intel i5 8 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 It's kept me going for the past three-ish years. The thee monitor set up I have going really makes my setup good,
  15. I read some of The Dangers in my Heart. Pretty entertaining start to (what I assume is) a romance manga. The protagonist reminds me of a person I'm friends with IRL, due to his height and appearance.
  16. Played some Pokémon Fire Red and Super Mario Land 2: Six Gold Coins. Pokémon is Pokémon, and SML2 is a very underrated platformer for the Gameboy Color.
  17. Played a bunch more of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with open RCT2 today. Very fun game, once you figure out how to get your 20 janitors to actually clean the park.
  18. Watched the first episode of "Insomniacs after school". Pretty good start for an adaptation of a great romance manga.
  19. Read some Teasing Master Takagi-san and Blame. Blame is a classic and a must read. The former is an alright romance manga. I've read worse desu.
