Apparently not. Visual Novels are NOT manga. Visual novels are like reading a book because of all the text. However they also have images to accompany the text. Some but not all even have voice acting to accompany the text. Here's an example: The voice actress for the VN and anime is the same.

Plastic Memories is fantastic. I don't remember if I cried or not..it's been awhile since I watched it. I do remember it being an emotional roller-coaster.
