  1. Gale

    FFXIV

I've seen that a few people play. This is more of a general thread to discuss things about the game. - How long have you been playing? - What do you enjoy about it? - What's your character's lore (if you have any)? - What's your biggest accomplishment? - Favorite jobs? Expansions? Songs? Characters? - What sorts of things do you like to do? Blue Mage? Raids? Glamours? Maps? RPing? This is my main character, Gale Accendus. You'll find me on Diabolos [Crystal Data Center]. I've been playing since 2020, basically when the pandemic started. I was a tank main at first, until I started dabbling in the healing arts. Now, I'm a Sage main--and I haven't looked back since. I'm more of a casual player, as I avoid current tier raids. They stress me out a lot. I just like to grind out leveling for my other jobs.
  2. 72F out right now with some rain. It'll be a good, cozy night.
  3. Someone called out today, so I was the only tech for the whole unit. Things started off strong until after lunch when things picked up. My feet are aching now from how little I got to sit down. But at the least, I did my time for the week. I picked up some McDonald's nuggets on the way home; I needed a pick me up.
  4. I went back to work today after being off for practically 2 weeks. The workload today wasn't too bad, actually; it went by at a steady and productive pace. Now I'm back at home. I had some dinner, took a shower and am playing some games to unwind. Day 2 is tomorrow, but I think I should be getting the same group, so it'll be another good day... Hopefully.
  5. Actually, I'd like to read manga. As time eludes me, it's difficult for me to sit down and watch anime. But I've been out of the loop for a few years now, so I don't know any good manga apps/websites to use. I've always had plans to read the Tokyo Ghoul manga.
  6. I had a bowl of vanilla-flavored granola and milk (basically cereal).
  7. Thank you! Trust me when I say that no one wants to be at the hospital. Not the patients, and DEFINITELY not the nurses and assistants (I can't speak for anyone else ).
  8. Ah, schoolwork. Speaking of... I watched my nephew for the day while my sister went to work. I took the time to catch up on next week's lectures. 5 chapters worth of content. Blegh... I'm surprised by how fast today went. It's my last day of spring break. Tomorrow and Sunday: work.
  9. I'm waiting for A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) book 6 from Sarah J. Maas. Allegedly, it should be coming either late this year or early 2026.
  10. Maybe when I've graduated and saved enough money, I'd like to go travelling to my boyfriend. The AC fangirl in me wants to go to Italy--namely, Florence, Rome, Tuscany and Venice. The whole time, I'd be like "Oh yeah! I scaled that building as Ezio to kill so-and-so!" But really, I admit that I've a taste for adventure. I like travelling to places with people, culture and landmarks wholly different from where I'm at. To get away from the mundane, honestly. Italy has such a rich history that I want to partake in. And being that my boyfriend has ethnic heritage from there, I would love to learn more!
  11. Light Yagami's death is nothing but poetic. He didn't go out in a spectacular fashion; in fact, it was quite unremarkable. A simple heart attack was all it took to end his life. I couldn't help but feel pity for all of his wasted potential. He was a bright student, destined to graduate to of class and make something for himself. Instead, he was Ryuk's sacrificial lamb--his plaything. The events of Death Note were all in thanks to Ryuk's boredom. So for a simple man to toss away his own humanity and set his sights on godhood, only to come up so short... Truly, what a waste. The way he passed in the MIDDLE of the stairs is oddly beautiful. As with any user of a shinigami's notebook, they're condemned to Mu for all of eternity. To enter neither Heaven nor Hell, but to be sentenced to a bleak nothingness. And the beams of the setting sun hitting him as he lays there? Absolutely GORGEOUS. A world without Light really is dark, huh?
  12. Gale is my main character's name in FFXIV.
  13. It's been a slog today. I'm not the type to idle around; I begin to get antsy, otherwise. Been playing GW2 on and off, and went to get my boyfriend's car cleaned. Nothing else, other than that.
  14. Occupation: I work as a nursing assistant (or where I work at, a patient care technician (PCT)) at a hospital nearby me. I help take vitals, do blood draws, help people with going to the restroom, and other basic tasks to help the day go by smoothly. I'm basically a second pair of eyes for the nurse. If something goes awry, I'll let the nurse know. I've been working as a PCT for 2 years now, actually! And before that, I was a home health aide (HHA) for 2 years as well. I worked for a private company at that time, and helped clients out around the home (chores, errands, etc.). School: I'm currently in nursing school--2nd semester--going for my associate's in nursing (ASN). The program I'm in is 2 years so after this spring semester, I'll have next fall and spring to do. Thankfully, we're off for the summer. Predicted graduation is in May of 2026. My mom was a nurse for 40+ years, and she inspired me to take up the profession. It's already hard work (both from working as a tech, and seeing what nurses have to deal with on a daily), but I think I'm in the right field.
  15. Food: a Filet o' Fish from McDonald's Drink: a mixture of blackcurrant concentrate and passionfruit juice with a splash of water
  16. I'm going to take a wild guess...and say Devil May Cry.
  17. You're not the only who experiences that strange empty feeling. It's like nostalgia--reminiscing over the journey you had just completed (whether that be an anime, book or video game). Any good story will leave you feeling hollow, so to speak. You were so invested in it, always expecting something to happen next...and then, it's done? It's finished? There's no more...? Animedragon puts it beautifully here: I believe that this is certainly the case. We become attached to the characters, and the lives they lead (despite being fictional). We put ourselves in their shoes and are immersed into their world. We see and feel the things they do. And when their story has come to its conclusion, it's time to say farewell... It's always bittersweet, isn't it?
  18. Final Fantasy XIV. I started playing during a rough patch in my life, and it's gotten me through so much. I've met my best friend on there (whom I still talk to this day), and it's how my boyfriend and I first bonded. It holds a special place in my heart for those very reasons. I started playing circa 2021. The story and character writing are out of this world--especially in Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Never have I played a game before that was so...'human.' I felt wholly invested in the plot, and it's one of the few video games that made me cry from sheer emotion. My interests change all the time, but FFXIV is something that I'll always go back to. Currently, I've invested about 3.5k hours--and counting!
