if what i'm looking for on them i'll use netflix or crunchyroll. i've also gotten hidive for short periods to officially support certain series, but they're not on official services i'll usually use kaido or 9anime. i tend to hop around sites a bit due to server issues or etc. i also like to buy blu rays or dvds when they're available!

personally i tend to prefer subs, but there are some series like paswg where the dub is just better lol granted i dont watch dubs very often unless recommended by a friend so i can't comment on the quality of a lot of newer ones o:

i absolutely love manga! i've been a very avid reader since i was probably 12-13? the reason i sometimes prefer manga over anime has to do just with artist intent ig? a lot of anime will cut things for time or budget or won't put as much care into a scene as i'd hope compared to the original in the manga. i like being able to see the story the way that the original artist intended. there are definitely some series that i prefer the anime adaptation more than the original manga like frieren due to pacing and music and etc, but theres a lot of series i prefer the manga i also have crazy adhd and like being able to experience the series at my own pace, imo its a lot easier to sit down and read a bit of a manga because you can stop at any point, even in the middle of a chapter, without it feeling like a weird spot to stop vs with anime i feel weird stopping midway through an episode. watching something feels like a lot more of a time commitment than just reading a few chapters if that makes sense? also like someone mentioned earlier in the thread theres a lot of incredible manga series that just don't get anime adaptations or the anime will only get one season and never complete the story lol

i've been SUPER into apothecary diaries and i've been having fun going through a rewatch of love live (and hopefully watching through the rest of the sequel series since i never finished nijigasaki or superstars lol) i'm probably going to start asobi asobase sometime soon and maybe a rewatch of k-on or haruhi suzumiya?

ohh this is hard, i read quite a few manga at my local library when i was in middle school so its hard to pin down the first i ever read. some of the early ones were definitely sgt frog, petshop of horror, black cat, and rosario+vampire! i know rosario+vampire was the first manga i ever BOUGHT for myself but i doubt it was the first i ever read

Who are your anime comfort characters?
fluffybug replied to Sakura Dragon's topic in Anime Discussion

i love learning about new artists so i wanted to ask about yalls faves! this also isnt asking your favorite manga story wise, just the artwork! my personal faves are Mine Yoshizaki (sgt frog and kemono friends), Tsukushi Akihito (Made in Abyss and From Star Strings), and Ryoko Kui (Dungeon Meshi). please share your faves and some of your favorite artwork by them!

unfortunately i can't comment on post covid numbers, but i can share my personal experience. i went to tokyo 2 times, once in fall 2017 and spring 2019. for 2019 i went with my dad and paid for our flights while he paid for our lodging. we stayed in an apartment airbnb in asakusa for 2 weeks and he paid around $1300 total iirc ($60-80 a night plus airbnb fees). for spending money (including food and fun) i brought around $1000 with me and came home with a couple hundred to spare (and this was with buying merch, eating out every night, souvenirs, etc). i'm not too sure how much things have changed since, but i know that when i went 100 yen was pretty equal to $1 usd and now its closer to 150 yen to $1 usd. i will also point out the article only looks like its about a year old and was posted in april 2024! i would be surprised if already inaccurate o:

when im deep in a reading mood it takes me a day or two for a 300 page book. 500 in one day is crazy! i love reading but it comes and goes in bursts for me lol i've never been a just a few pages a day reader, its all or nothing i'm either reading nonstop for hours or a dont read for a month. lately i've been really into the mxtx novels o:

i love creative hobbies a lot. my main ones are drawing and crochet but i'd love to get into quilting at some point too! i also play both video and tabletop games (mostly d&d) and cosplay (not exclusively anime characters so i'll count it here lol)

Hello! I completely missed this channel last night lol but you can call me Bug I'm a late 20s he/they from the midwest. I realized recently just how long its been since I've been an active member of any sort of forum and that I really missed it so I figured I'd check things out here! :) My interests vary pretty wildly but I'm mostly into psychological horror, fantasy, and slice of life lol My favorite series at the moment are Made in Abyss, Dungeon Meshi, Apothecary Diaries, Higurashi and Hibike! Euphonium. I've been into anime since I was in middle school in the late 2000s and have been a cosplayer since 2009. I'm also a digital artist who draws mostly chibis and other cute things but I'm really trying to steal Mine Yoshizaki's art style from the late 90s/early 2000s lol I'm big on figure collecting and have been getting more into manga collecting lately too so I'll probably be sharing things from my collection! I'm not very good at writing intros, but I hope to be at least semi active on here and to make some friends :3
