Princess Tutu has a pretty good dub. It's also no where near as cute and girly as it first seems. It gets fairly dark, and the characters go through some serious development. It's also our favourite anime ever.

Nah, Clannad isn't a harem. In the anime, there are several girls, but only two of them actually like him romantically. The others are just on friendly terms. They all have their respective routes in the VN, but this isn't about the VN.

If you're just talking about HTC Vive type VR, pretty sure they recently released a game called Koikaze.

Bored As HELL!! Recommend me Manga or Anime...
the_twig replied to Something Crazy's question in Recommendations
We’re not too big on manga, so you may have read these, but ReLIFE and The World God Only Knows were good. As for anime, our favourite is Princess Tutu. It’s about using magical ballet to fight ravens and revive a prince. It’s also no where near as girly as it sounds. The ravens try to eat people, and there are men with big axes trying to cut people’s hands off. It’s closer to a Grimm tale than anything else. You know, the ones where Cinderella has a bird peck her sisters eyes out, and forces her step mother to dance until she dies of exhaustion. -
We've played something kind of like this before. It was a Pokemon zombie survival thing where you had explain why your randomly generated team of 3 Pokemon would make survival easier than anyone else's. Sounds like fun.

Anime theme games that are worth getting?
the_twig replied to seemore_bhutts's topic in Anime Discussion
Yes, we do. So first off, we'll just reiterate that we're two people, just so you understand this next statement if you weren't aware. Go play the best/second best (slight disagreement) game series ever made: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It's a series of three JRPGs from 2004, 2006, and 2007 set in a magical version of the 50s. (Magical isn't quite the right word, but it's close enough.) You play as Estelle Bright, and her brother Joshua, who are Junior Bracers (effectively police officers), and you trek around the country of Liberl. It is one of the ONLY pieces of media that we've come across that has done modern fantasy properly, integrating the magic into society and technology. The gameplay is mostly instanced grid based combat, with you walking around, talking to people for the rest of the time like any other JRPG. The thing that really sets it's combat apart though is the customisation of abilities. You know how Final Fantasy 7 had those Materia things that let you slightly tweak your stats and abilities? It's like that, but the entire game is built around it. Different combinations of Quartz (the Materia type items) unlock different Arts (spells), as well as giving you passive buffs (and a few debuffs on some of them). There's rather a lot of dialogue (The second game took 5 years to translate, with a proper budget and everything), fleshing out the world, the characters, and even the random NPCs. Almost all of the NPCs say something different if you talk to them twice in a row, and then change their dialogue whenever you complete a major event. The NPCs have lives of their own that you can explore. For example there's a shopkeeper in the first town called Rinon. He's known Estelle since she was a kid, and is her go to man for buying Strega brand sneakers. He's really struggling to find a wife though, and his mother, Bloom tries to set him up with various girls around town. There's also a couple who you can talk to a few times. They start off as newlyweds, go on their honeymoon, get into an argument, split up, get back together, and then the man has an affair. They're just random people with generic character models that you don't even have to talk to, but they tell a story if you do. Almost every character in the game has a story like that. As for the main characters, lets just say that Estelle is the best MC ever, and that there's a pansexual foreigner with a lute who drinks an awful lot of wine, and that they put the fact that he had more dialogue as a main selling point of the second game. Seriously. If we haven't just babbled on about a fantasy world for long enough to convince you, then have some music. Just don't read the comments. You can pick up the first game on Steam for about £13, which is really pretty cheap. Make sure to play Trails in the Sky. There's another, newer series called Trails of Cold Steel, that is just straight up not as good in basically every way. Including graphics and music (we think anyway). -
Good choice. tell us what you think of it. If you like the general storytelling style, we know a few more shows like it. Although they don't have the crazy art.
-
Kuuchuu Buranko is the show for you. It's about people going to a psychiatric ward to be treated for various mental ailments like anxiety disorders and OCD. Also, just look at this.
-
Kaiji is a really good dark show. It's a thriller about a guy who gets caught in a yakuza gambling scheme. If he loses, he'll be sold into slavery. Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shinchinin is also good. It's about prison breaking to get away from abusive guards.
-
This seems like an expensive proof of concept rather than a proper Pokemon game. We're assuming that they're seeing how well the style is going to go down (since it looks fairly different from previous games), and will reuse the assets for the core games. We really don't like the overworld wild Pokemon. It means that you can see what you're going to battle, avoid all of the Zubats and stuff, only target the rare mons, and it just makes the whole random collection thing pointless. While that makes some sense for a Go game, it doesn't work for core Pokemon.
-
There are a few anime with similar concepts to that. You’re most likely thinking of God Eater, but if not, can you give some extra information such as hair colours of main characters, if any of the girls had a noticeable ‘dere’ type, how technologically advanced they were. Stuff like that.

World Class Anime vs What Otakus Think are World Class
the_twig replied to Beocat's topic in Anime Discussion
"World Class" is a really weird phrase, simply because people disagree about what is world class. Surely that means that nothing is world class then. Instead of looking at what are the "best" anime overall, you should look at what are the best at what they are trying to do. Steins;Gate is definitely worth a mention in that case, because the ways it explores time travel are outstanding. On the other hand, Corner of the World was definitely a good movie, and the concept was nice and original, but we wouldn't call it the best. There are better character driven dramas out there. The fact that it was about losing the war doesn't automatically give it a pass. On that front, we'll nominate Bartender. On the surface, Bartender appears to be an anime about the history of cocktails, and while that is a part of it, giving history lessons is not what it excels at. That is character development. Bartender can develop a character in one episode more than many shows can in their entire runtime. If you've never seen Bartender, we implore you to go and watch it, just so you can understand what we're talking about. In particular, episode 6 about the movie director, and episode 10 about the liquid physicist. To be honest, you don't really need to watch any of the rest of it (although you should). Also the soundtrack is great. -
Well then, lets get some Baccano! in there. It's even set in America, so the dub makes sense. Tiger & Bunny is decent. It's basically My Hero Academia if Deku was a 45 year old dad, and damn is that a glorious prospect. Dads in anime are always the coolest characters. Think Maes Hughes from FMA. And just because what the hell, Cat Shit One. It's about the Iranian war, and is probably the second best CGI anime ever made. (On the subject of CGI, you should watch Houseki no Kuni too. Free bonus recommendation.)

So we're very fond of Japanese music even outside of anime, and we're always looking for new artists to listen to. Do any of you know any good ones? A band that we're incredibly fond of is ScenarioArt. They're a three member band consisting of a male lead guitar, male bassist/keyboardist/basically whatever else they need, and a female drummer. Their fun quirk however is that the lead guitar and the drummer do duets. Have some examples. Cheating slightly, because this first one is actually a cover of a song by the Asian Kung-Fu Generation, and it was used as the OP for the Tatami Galaxy reruns. Next up, we've got an original one that's a lot of fun. And finally, we've got the one that we probably consider our favourite ScenarioArt song. We went ahead and bought most of their albums, and there are a bunch of other great songs that they've done. They're just generally a really enjoyable band to listen to.

Standard BBcode then? That's easy enough to work with. Hey awesomedude! They've got font size 72! No longer will we be trapped to the meagre size of 7!

How in the world do people actually find online friends?!
the_twig replied to EvilRedDwarf's topic in Chit Chat
So we find that the easiest way is to be vocal about what you do and don’t like. We’re part of a group that absolutely loves Dewgong for example (well, one of us is. The other technically isn’t, but is in the group anyway), and they are some of the most important people in the world to us. We talk basically daily, write stories together, play games, and we meet up IRL semi-frequently. We met @awesomedude20 on the Kissanime forums, but didn’t really start talking until he set up a Yu-Gi-Oh thread. From there on, we started talking pretty frequently, and started moderating. Just find your niche, and really explode with it, until you find someone else with the same niche. -
For the minuscule increase in blood pressure to cause a vein to rupture, they must be ungodly levels of weak. They should be getting a nose bleed every time they jump, or even walk down some stairs, let alone swing a big sword around to show off their OP and edge to their harem.

Thanks. Our forums were pretty dead, yeah. No idea about when they’ll be back up. We also mod the Discord though, so we aren’t out of a job just yet. Actually it’s a Buneary riding a Dewgong. They are our favourite Pokémon for various reasons. twig is actually a combination of letters from our real names, although Turtwig is pretty cool too.

You know us? Don't recognise a username of Viper, but given that you're Irish and like AoT, we'll guess ***l M**r**h? Best drama anime huh? Well a good one to start with would probably be Planetes. It's about trash collectors in space. Fune wo Amu is also good, but probably a bit too mellow for you to start on. SHAFT did an outstanding job on 3-gatsu no Lion, so that's always worth it. The second season of 3-gatsu has one of the best individual arcs of anything we've ever seen. if you want to bridge the gap between supernatural and drama though (actually fantasy and drama, but there's magic which is close enough), we'll suggest Scrapped Princess.

Hello there, we are the_twig, mods of the currently compromised KissAnime forums, and we were bored. Hence we are here. Yes, we do talk in the plural. That is for there are two of us on this account. We are brother and sister, and we go by the names of Aki and Imo respectively. As for anime, we are incredibly fond of the drama genre (that is different from romance for any of you who think they are the same. There are a lot of people who seem to), and some of our favourite anime are Princess Tutu, Kuzu no Honkai, Bartender, and 3-gatsu no Lion. We don't read that much manga but we did absolutely adore ReLIFE while it was ongoing (which is a webcomic, but who cares). We'll probably end up sticking around in the Recommendations section, because what's better in life that telling everyone to watch an anime about people getting injections by a rotoscoped nurse under the employment of a man who is sometimes a child and sometimes a bear in a room with a paint job done by a drunk chameleon. It's called Kuuchuu Buranko and it's great.
