Back when I actually watched Pokemon, I remember Charizard’s rebellious phase being entertaining
But I think Snorlax is my spirit animal
On a related topic, Sabrina was probably my favorite gym leader (outside of Misty & Brock of course)

Not sure, but might be Deltora Quest (I watched it on Discovery Family / The Hub about 10 years ago)

Started Kino's Journey a few days ago (I get it's short I just take a long time to finish shows) I've been liking it so far, it's definitely a good watch after a long day at work.
The original or the remake? I personally prefer the original.

@Strawberry2456 I had no idea there was this much merch for this game (largely because I’d never heard of it ) You are a true fangirl
@Animedragon
Nice collection Particularly impressed with the Macross figures. Wasn’t surprised to see Sailor Mercury & Sakura, but was to see representation from Angelic Layer.I don’t have much in anime merch myself outside of t shirts & hoodies. Mainly lithos, pins, patches, etc that were included with dvd purchases. And these Galaxy Angel Figurines included with a dvd boxset

Nothing wrong with that. If a series has a complex storyline I still prefer to binge (currently waiting on Golden Kamuy season 4 & Witch from Mercury 2nd cour to finish before taking on).

I've now found out that this series is on Hidive not Crunchyroll.
My current plan is to wait until it's finished and then take out a Hidive subscription to watch it, along with a couple of other series they have that I'd like to see as well, and then cancel the sub.
Yeah, that’s the way to go if you prefer bingeing over following weekly. Crunchyroll is the only service I maintain continuously but I’ve been combining it with Hidive more recently. Currently following 3 series on Hidive: Insomniacs After School, Kubo Won’t Let Me be Invisible & Oshi no Ko.

My favorites are the chibis (1 & 10). And the combination of megane (glasses) & ahoge (vertical cowlick) is adorable.
Of the other versions of Kaede, I think I actually prefer the older version of #3, though I like the newer version of #2. Not intended as criticism as I have no professional understanding or talent for art, just my personal feelings.
Finally my favorite of Camelia is #9.

I've seen stills of Tomo-chan and it looks heckin adorable honestly >o< I definitely need to try it.
Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Though a big part of it was the supporting cast of Misuzu & Carol who definitely need their own spinoff series

It’s been a really long time since I saw it (to give you an idea, the version I have is the individual disc releases instead of a collection). I still remember it as one of the few true yuri series I’ve seen compared to some others where it’s more implied.

Yeah, defining one’s interests by genre is kinda tricky. The series that got me into anime were scifi/space (Star Blazers/Robotech). But fantasy & supernatural elements are probably what interests me the most, of course even those categories cover a lot of ground in the broadest sense. I’m generally not a fan of drama or serious romance, but I got emotionally invested in the recent Fruits Basket remake (2019-2021). And I’ve really enjoyed a number of romcoms, most recently Tomo-chan is a Girl & My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Level 999. Though Vinland Saga’s 2nd season is probably my favorite anime from this year so far.
I prefer not to use PMs until I get somewhat familiar with people. Anyway, hope you find things to interest you here & decide to stick around.

Interesting bits of information you provided on your background. Not sure if you’d be interested, but there’s a series I’m enjoying called Golden Kamuy that has a lot of references to the Ainu, which is an indigenous culture of Northern Japan (Hokkaido). The 4th season of the anime is currently airing & I believe the manga is ongoing.

Unfortunately the only series on your profile that I’ve completed was Strawberry Panic. There have been some reverse harem or otome anime I enjoyed, but not many. I really enjoyed the recent remake of Fruits Basket though & so far this year has had a surprising numbet of romcoms or anime with a romance aspect I actually enjoy (Tomo-chan, Yamada-kun, Kubo, Insomniacs After School, Clueless First Friend, Skip & Loafer, Ancient Magus Bride, Malevolent Spirits Mononogatari, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, Sacrificial Princess & King of Beasts)

Subbed or Dubbed?
in Anime Discussion
Posted · Edited by Ohayotaku
I generally prefer the subtitled version. Like @Key Visual said, I feel like a lot of times the original VAs bringing emotion & energy to the role that the dubs miss. Plus I’ve watched anime long enough that I can usually get the cultural humor & references that they sometimes try to localize in the dub with questionable results.
Exceptions where I prefer the english dub: Cowboy Bebop • Star Blazers 2199 & 2205 • Monster • Steel Angel Kurumi.
