  1. Well that’s just freak’n adorable

  2. Finished the last of the Attack on Titan OADs (Lost Girls) last night, so guess I’m ready for the beginning of the end tomorrow
  3. Today’s high was 20F & got a dusting of snow. Supposed to get down to 10F overnight, them only make it to the low 20s again tomorrow
  4. Hey, no judgement from me, I’ve just grown a bit weary of the formula, though UY & Tenchi Muyo are largely credited as the progenitors. And I think back in the day it’s humor was a way for otaku/weebs to feel they had something over normies for not getting the references/jokes
  5. For all the hype around Lum as one of anime’s premiere waifus, if I had to choose a favorite from the UY girls, it would probably be Benten, the badass space biker & one of Lum’s BFFs.
  6. Finished the final ep (for now) of The Faraway Paladin. Despite the 2nd half of the season feeling a bit lacking, I thought it ended fairly strong & will definitely check out season 2 when it airs.
  7. I’d posted a link to an article about it in the anime news & discussion topic when it was announced over the weekend. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2021/12/31-1/classic-anime-urusei-yatsura-gets-all-star-new-tv-series-in-2022-at-david-production While I can see Nagatoro voicing Lum, I ‘m skeptical of Levi (Attack on Titan) as Ataru It has at least 2 claims to fame (or infamy, based on your tastes ) 1. It’s one of the earliest examples of the harem romcom with an unrepentant skirt chaser as the male lead. 2. Non-Asian anime noobs or casual viewers will largely find it weird & not get a lot of the humor because a lot of it are play on word of the Japanese language & references to mythical beings in Japanese folklore (oni, karasu-tengu, yuki-onna) which are portrayed as alien races in the series. I’ve only seen some of the earliest episodes of the original series & the one movie (Beautiful Dreamer), but didn’t really care for it. It’s by the same mangaka as Ranma 1/2 (which was one of the earliest uncut series I watched some of back in my VHS days) & Inuyasha (one of my 2022 resolutions is to make some progress on that one). But I think both those series are more accessible/enjoyable to Western audiences. I’m certain I’ll give the new series a look out of curiosity, but doubt I’ll spend much time on it since I have less tolerance for harem series than I did in my youth & I personally find the shameless pervert trope more annoying than the cluelessly dense one as far as MCs go.
  8. Cowboy Bebop • Star Blazers • My Hero Academia (seasons 1 - 3) • Vinland Saga • Azumanga Daioh • Fruits Basket (2019 - 2021) • Kimetsu no Yaiba • Yuru Camp • Fate Zero • Jujutsu Kaisen
  9. Attack on Titan eps .5A & .5B (OAD 4 & 5): No Regrets How Levi first joined the Scouts & the role Erwin played in it. A perfect illustration of everything that made the 1st season something special.
  10. So another year has come & gone I’m curious to what other members think of this past year’s anime. Highlights? Low points? Overall trends? Starting things off with my take on things: 2021 Favorites (New) 86 (Eighty-six) • Mushoku Tensei • Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro • Kemono Jihen • Shadows House • Mieruko-chan • Ranking of Kings • Tropical Rouge Pretty Cure • Odd Taxi • The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace 2021 Favorites (Sequels/Continuations) Fruits Basket Final • Jujutsu Kaisen (2nd cour) • Attack on Titan Final Season pt 1 • Nomad: Megalo Box • Demon Slayer season 2 • Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun season 2 • Yuru Camp season 2• Zombie Land Saga Revenge• Higurashi: When They Cry Gou/Sotsu • That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 2 Anime of the Year: Fruits Basket Final 2021 Disappointments The Promised Neverland season 2 • Wonder Egg Priority • Log Horizon season 3 • Komi Can’t Communicate • Platinum End Overall trends: production delays, recap episodes, shorter seasons, split cours
  11. Never would’ve predicted this https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2021/12/31-1/classic-anime-urusei-yatsura-gets-all-star-new-tv-series-in-2022-at-david-production though I have to admit I didn’t really care for what I saw of the original series
  12. Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy it here My experience has been that most members here are friendly, so feel free to just join in.
  13. My impression of the Fall season’s series https://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-1070430/-fall-2021-anime-awards-#58881277
  14. I watched a couple eps, but didn’t appeal to me personally. Wrapping up some 2021 anime. Last episode of The Faraway Paladin is Monday. I believe I saw where it would get a 2nd season. Honestly I haven’t enjoyed the series as much after the MC ventured out into the wider world, but it’s still ok. 2 more eps of Komi. Really don’t get the hype around this series, pretty meh IMO. Will probably finish off 7 Deadly Sins since I’ve stuck with it this far. Plan on watching the Lord El Melloi New Year’s special when it airs.
  15. 86 (Eighty-six) pt 2 and now I gave to wait till March for the final 2 episodes. But considering that it was probably the best series of the Fall season & definitely one of the top series in all of 2021, it will be worth the wait if they use the extra time to ensure it measures up. And as an aside, the CGI in the 2nd cour was greatly improved & one of the rare instances where I don’t have any complaints with it.
  16. In a bit of a surprise, HiDive picked up exclusive streaming rights to Takagi season 3. So I’ll more likely wait till it ends & binge it, because I really don’t need another subscription right now. Though it seems like I’ll be more focused on my PTW list than currently airing series.
  17. I had the anime version on VHS tape back in the day. I think most people remember it for the weird design of the main monster Gurren Lagann is another one of those series I started but never finished, even though I don’t remember anything I disliked about it.
